  • Norton 360 includes core modules to cover anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, a two-way firewall and browser protection, but also provides parental control, online storage, online backup, PC tune-up and identity protection.

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition reliably protects workstations and servers from viruses and malware. If you choose the on-premise installation, the software updates automatically. If you choose the cloud-managed service, it gives you management control through a web console and you don't have to worry about providing resources to run the solution; deployments are effortless.

  • Symantec focuses on protecting against malware at every level, and the latest Norton AntiVirus (2014) does more than ever to block real-world malware attacks. This focus costs it points in static antivirus testing, but the product is effective. I use it myself.

Symantec System Recovery (better known as Backup Exec depending on the version you bought) is a great tool that allows you to manage in full autonomy and an extremely centralized backup of the various servers, thus allowing complete control from a single tool avoiding the waste time and various oversights.

    Pros :

    • The power of Symantec is definitely the ease of use (the Symantec Management Console is really well done, complete, well grouped and well divided into tabs), the different possible operations (eg. Full backups, incremental backups, backup to removable media , CD, etc.
    • You can also map many differents network drives.
    • One of the most useful and very convenient features is, for example, the possibility with which you can make a backup of a server as an "image" and restore it even to different hardware.
    • It obviously works on both physical and virtual environments, can therefore also be used for a virtualization plan.
    • Often it is also useful if you need to make a migration of data or entire infrastructure.
    • Backups can follow different schedules, can include individual applications, files, various settings until you get a complete operating system.
    • You can also set several restore points to restore not carry too heavy duty.
    • Another functionality is to have granular restores, with this feature you can then go and retrieve the individual files you need and restore it in its original place (for example, if a user has accidentally deleted a single file from a single folder).

    Cons :

    • Using the interface of the agents you can add various "plug-ins", these allow you to customize the product as possible to meet your needs, the majority of these, however, requires payment extra.
    • As standard option (add- on excluded) backups are only allowed in Full option, this will then prompt you require more free space on the servers, most of the backup processing time (which is not very performant) greater attention to the management of the various servers, more maintenance.
