Shopify Review by Cloudswave

If your company lacks an eCommerce solution or you’re simply not impressed with its current version, you need to make it a priority to find something new. The good news is that there are more eCommerce platforms today than ever before, representing countless options for your company to take advantage of. Unfortunately, this could mean you have a lot of work ahead of you in terms of finding the right one. Make a mistake here and you’ll be back to square one with less money to show for it. Start your search with Shopify, though, and chances are you won’t feel the need to look much further. It’s one of the most popular eCommerce platforms in the world for good reason. Let’s look at some of its more prominent features now. Read all the way through, too, so you can learn about a great Shopify deal Cloudswave is currently offering.

A True Turnkey Solution

One really great thing about Shopify, as you’re about to see in detail, is that it offers a complete turnkey solution. You don’t have to worry that, after paying for Shopify, you now need to go out and find eight other platforms to complete the package. While some companies may decide to invest in complementary software, this is by no means mandatory. Plenty of businesses use only Shopify for their eCommerce needs and see incredible results. All you have to do is bring the actual products and services, the business knowledge and content to the table. Shopify can basically do everything else.

Speed and Security Included

Right off the bat, let’s look at two features that help Shopify stand out from other turnkey options in the market: speed and security. Now, many of you may think this isn’t something you should have to pay for. After all, don’t you already get charged by your hosting company for these things? Yes, you most likely do. However, it’s unlikely that either is as good as it could be, which is where Shopify can help. Did you know that many studies have shown that visitors to your site who have to wait more than four seconds for a page to load will most likely leave? Obviously, that means a lot of them are leaving after three seconds. Every tenth of a second matters in the world of eCommerce, which is why you should put Shopify to work in this department. On top of that, your eCommerce site needs to do things a lot of other sites don’t, like process credit cards. That can slow down your site more than you would ever want if for no other reason than you have to make sure this information is handled in a secure manner. Should even one person get their data compromised, you can expect that your business is going to take a huge hit. Some companies never actually recover from that kind of an event. If your site is found to be out of compliance with PCI standards, it won’t actually take a hacker to ruin your business. Some organizations make the mistake of thinking that third-party vendors are the way to go. Make no mistake about it, vendors like PayPal and Google Wallet didn’t achieve their reputation without being great at processing payments. However, you can do a lot better. With Shopify, you have true pros dedicated to this side of your business. They’ll take care of compliance, caching, defending against hackers and a whole range of other issues that matter when you have an eCommerce site.

Inventory Management

Hopefully, knowing the people at Shopify are handling your security and keeping your site screaming fast is a big relief. That doesn’t mean your site will automatically be a success though. For one thing, you need great products. They won’t be enough, however, if you don’t properly display them for your customers. Once again, here’s where Shopify won’t disappoint. The platform is tremendous at allowing you to display your products in a number of different ways. You can use high-resolution images to make sure your customers see them crystal-clear at every angle as well. There also won’t be any issues with altering your inventory. Whether you want to take an item off the store, add a new one to your inventory, change the price, change the picture, alter the description or just about anything else, this platform has you covered. No matter what market you’re targeting, it probably moves too fast to put up with any unnecessary delays. It’s important you can react quickly whenever necessary.

Tremendous Customer Support

Another area where Shopify really shines is customer support. It can’t be said enough that this is very user-friendly software. Still, it’s best to anticipate that you’ll probably have issues at some point. When this happens, you want to know that helpful people are just a phone call away. That’s exactly what you’ll get with Shopify. In fact, the customer service provided by Shopify is why more and more people are switching from pairing WordPress with an eCommerce solution and just going with this turnkey option. This should be especially attractive to those of you who are running a small business. You most likely don’t have an IT team to turn to when something goes wrong. Furthermore, being a small business means you most likely can’t afford a problem that shuts down your revenue stream for even a day. For any non-emergency issues, the platform comes with a FAQ section that will probably contain most of the answers you want. There’s also email and a chat component for questions that aren’t urgent. Whether you need help running your store or you’re a web developer who needs someone to point them in the right direction, you’ll find that Shopify’s reputation for amazing customer support is well deserved. Even if everything else the company offered was just average, the service factor would justify your subscription.

Marketing

It should go without saying that your eCommerce site needs to have some great marketing regardless of what you sell. If you’re in a saturated market, you have a number of competitors trying to take your business. If you’re in a niche market, you can’t afford to lose a single customer. Luckily, another area where Shopify really does a great job is online marketing. It will become abundantly clear that the people behind Shopify’s marketing tools actually have real world experience. In fact, a lot of people have signed up for Shopify simply to get their hands on the toolbox they offer. Besides the ones you’ll get with the main package, the company also has a number of other ones on the App Marketplace. This is great because it means you’ll get some amazing resources for drawing attention no matter what. However, if you feel it would be worth it to spend a bit more for a specific goal, there are other assets out there. To be clear, the basics offered by Shopify will be more than enough to put your site on the map. They didn’t treat these basic tools like throwaways they had to include. Instead, each and everyone is obviously the product of a lot of care and hard work. One marketing component that has set Shopify apart and also contributed to much of its popularity is the ability it gives you to create effortless landing pages. Those of you who only have one product to offer or don’t have the resources to support a website with multiple pages should really look into landing pages. If you like the idea, you’ll love what Shopify can do with them. For things like email marketing and AdWords, Shopify has you covered as well. You’ll have a number of options for customizing either campaign and adjusting as necessary going forward.

Search Engine Optimization

SEO is a type of marketing, but it deserves its own section here. That’s because the team behind Shopify has done a real service for its customers by handling their sites’ SEO code for them. Their code is crawlable and clean. Once again, this is a huge benefit for those medium- and small-businesses that probably don’t have their own coder on staff. Outsourcing this job can be expensive and risky. Not doing it correctly can be the same. There’s still plenty of room for custom input though. From meta descriptions to title tags, the platform allows you spaces to make sure that the SEO code is giving search engines unique descriptions of your site. This software will even help with your copy by checking for duplicate content, something no search engine will reward you for. Other essential functions like Sitemaps and webmaster tools are covered too.

Design

No one wants their eCommerce website to look like it came off the shelf. Cookie-cutter solutions usually mean cookie-cutter results which render your website virtually useless if competitors are doing the exact same thing as you are. This is one reason so many people have flocked to WordPress. It offers endless possibilities as far as design goes (though it lacks in other areas). You have to give Shopify’s team credit for not dropping the ball here. With all their other amazing features, they could have easily produced a lackluster design element and probably have gotten away with it. Instead, they knocked it out of the park. Out of the box, Shopify has some great designs you could implement immediately. That being said, you can also improve on any design available without having to put in hours of painstaking work. As soon as you purchase your package, you’ll have a number of different themes to choose from for free. If you don’t see anything you like, check their marketplace for even more options. Some of you may still not be happy with what you find. Your business may be especially unique or it might be that you have a very specific idea in your head you’d love to see online. In that case, you’ll be glad to know that all of these Shopify themes can be customized by a designer or developer to create a 100% original shop.

Add-ons

Speaking of the ability to customize your site, Shopify has a library full of add-ons for this purpose. Obviously, no platform could ever accommodate every single feature a store owner could possibly want. This is why, just like Apple, Android and Facebook, Shopify has its very own app store. Developers all over the world are constantly working on new apps to offer customers like you. There are whole communities of developers based on this product alone. Shopify has provided the world with its platform and core functionality, allowing these developers to do the rest. While you’ll definitely need to pay for many of them, there are plenty of free apps too (MailChimp’s The Chimpfield app is a great example of a free option that is absolutely amazing). With so many apps already available, you probably won’t need the help of a developer to build the features you want for your store. Just go to the app store and there will most likely be one waiting for you.

Shopify is an excellent software especially for the local brands who want to sell their brands but due to their budget being small, can not afford a well-integrated e-commerce website. I sponsor a small brand the Brumano, I needed a proper selling plan since I do not have an outlet I preferred selling it online. my friend recommended me use Shopify on facebook. this is how it started. I started selling on facebook through Shopify software. it was very easy to use. the best part was I didn't need to hire someone to create me a website, or run it, or do the coding. I was able to do it all by myself. Shopify on facebook was very easy to compare to using Shopify as a whole web site.

Creating an e-commerce website through Shopify was fun too, a variety of themes were available, the fonts, the designing. everything was up to me how to design my website. the website adds attraction to your brand. the cheaper the website looks people think well the product will be the same. but this was not the case with Shopify, designing was simply elegant and versatile. they keep the standard of the product.

    Pros :

    • The initial setup of this website is very easy.
    • The e-commerce website built with Shopify works faster than many other websites.
    • They ensure the security of the website.
    • The steps to create a user-friendly website are certainly very easy.
    • The pricing is pretty affordable too, I prefer the Shopify packages which are for $79.
    • With its marketing tool, it becomes easier to advertise your brand.
    • Designing is very easy, no need to learn the entire programming or hire a professional.
    • They offer 24/7 customer support.

    Cons :

    • On the in-store blog, the ability to reply to one's comment is unavailable, thus no social connection.

With so many options to choose running an online store, Shopify came up on top with its all-in-one e-commerce solution that I have recommended and implemented to several of my clients since 2012.

As we recognize that there’s a lot that goes into running an online store, and the choice of platform is endless. This decision can have as big of an effect onyour business as choosing brick and mortar location or a distribution locationthat can make or break your business.

Shopify isking when it comes to online store platform. It takes a lot of planning atfirst, but when you have it set up, the operation is a breeze. Plus, the continuing improvement that they placed to improve its processes.

Consider Shopify as a turn-key ecommerce solution that will provides everything you need to startselling your products online. Whether you're running a small business or medium large, they have all the solutions that will fit what you need.

    Pros :

    • Hosting reliability, speed, and security.
    • This is crucial to all of my clients. They need eCommerce hosting that is reliable, fast with extra security to process all that payments. And yes, Shopify delivers.
    • Shopify reliability is beyond question. With 99.9% uptime guarantee, your store will always be up and ready to take incoming orders.
    • Speed is another crucial item. For every second that a potential customer waits for a page to load, the higher the chance that they will leave and go to your competitor.
    • Security is the big elephant in the room, some eCommerce platform claims to have it, but majority fails on delivery. Shopify works with big third-party vendors such as Google Wallet, Moneris, and PayPal to make the sure that its security is up to date and aligned itself with the latest security standards.

    Cons :

    • Let’s dive in straight to the negatives.
    • Most of my clients hate the Shopify pricing. For a small online stores, $30/month will be hard to swallow. However, you do get all the amenities that you will need to boost your sales performance. But for some, it still represents a barrier to entering Shopify.
    • The next con of using Shopify is the initial setup process. It is required someone with a technical knowledge to get it started. This is why anyone who expect to make money in the next hour they signed up Shopify will be disappointed. Regardless, this will happen to all the custom-made product you ever purchased.
In Shopify case, a technical know-how is necessary to build a proper foundation for the custom e-commerce store to run properly.

This is one of the rare bits of software I'd give a 10 rating to and be fully comfortable doing so. Shopify is a must have for any engaging in e-commerce and who wants a professional website without blowing the budget on a software designer or web development firm. The software is so user-friendly and straight forward that anyone with even minimal (arguably zero) experience level in web design can create a website that any company would be proud of and eager to send their customers to.

    Pros :

    • The vast amount of tools and features available to you with your Shopify license is astounding. There is no way you will find yourself lacking the tools you need to create an outstanding website unless you have such a robust need that you should be hiring this work out anyway (you can even have Shopify create for you if you contract their team separately). This software could service small startup and entrepreneurial clients all the way to Fortune 500 companies with their capabilities.
    • The biggest pro period is the customer service... You can literally contact support 24.7, and you will always receive a fully engaged and knowledgeable support staff team member who takes the time to understand your issue and works with you until the issue is resolved and you are satisfied. I can't stress quite enough how true this is, and implore you to realize how valuable this when you are creating something as important as your website to be the platform for your entire online business.
    • Mobile Support is awesome too, ensuring your customers who are primarily mobile phone or tablet users have a great experience, and they will!

    Cons :

    • The only con that I've found in this software is that it is not free, and obviously, that is unrealistic and idealistic. I would, however, gladly pay the relatively low cost of the software for the fact the value of what you get in return is so wonderful.

I loved how this system really gave you the control to customize and set up your page the way you wanted it! I had a vision in my head of the way I wanted the page to look and it once I completed it, it looked exactly the way I wanted it to! Overall, I was so impressed with the quality of the product and system and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to start their own dream business!

The best thing about this system, is you do not need any experience in graphic design or any designing skills because they offer over 100 professional templates, or you can also create your own template using HTML or CSS. Start running your own business, I loved it!

    Pros :

There are many aspects of this system that were wonderful:

    • I was able to accept orders with when I received them, I would get notifications from my phone and email when a new sale came in. Then I would be able to fulfill one or many orders with just one click on the mouse or touch of the screen on my phone. This was so easy to help manage my orders and not loose track of any order!
    • The shipping process was also pretty easy and enjoyable. I was able to easily integrate shipping with every large, major order and provide my customers with a tracking link to follow the order process.
    • There are 70 or more international payment options, so I never had to worry about losing a sale due to payment options.
    • I could even advertise for gift cards and discount codes for my customers to apply to their order!

    Cons :

    • The only issue I had was with the pricing. After I completed the 14-day free trial, I had to decide which plan I wanted to buy to continue my plan. There was a basic plan for $29 a month where you could sell in your own mobile store, on social media sites, and in person. There was a Pro plan for $79 a month where they had all the same basic features that I listed above, but also had enhanced reports, analytics, and lower transaction fees.
    • And there was an Unlimited plan with the same Pro features as listed above along with the lowest transaction fees and real-time carrier shipping. This was difficult for me to decide which plan to go with because of the transaction fees I had to figure out which would be a better deal for my business.
    • I ended up figuring out the Pro plan would be the best deal with the lower transaction fees, but it took some research and crunching of numbers to get there.

Shopify can help customers who want to quickly create an Online Store to sell one's products or Services. The features available on the site are quite user-friendly, and one can easily navigate and select the right theme and options catering to one's requirements. It provides a list of features like purchasing your domain, web hosting services, marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). SEO forms the crux of any Online Business, which if properly designed and executed well, can get you recurring customers without major advertising spends. It also supports Google Analytics.

With Google Analytics, one can track Sales, Referral's, demographics of your customers or prospective customers. Analytics helps Vendors to understand their Customer's behavior and tweak their website or online store to lure those customers based on the analysis.

    Pros :

    • Shopify has inbuilt professional themes, which one can use to design the Online Store. It has themes for each nature of the business. If you are tech savvy, then it also gives you full rights for editing the HTML and CSS, which one can use to tweak to one's requirement.
    • One can link already purchased a domain to this online store created on Shopify or else one can purchase the domain from Shopify and link into your Online Store.
-One can also customize the layout and themes as per one's requirement to change the feel and nature of the Online Store.
    • It also provides a blogging platform, where the customers can comment on the blog articles.
    • All moderation activities can be controlled by the moderator.
    • If one doesn't have the expertise to Customize the template, then one can also use the help of Shopify experts, who can help to customize the Online Store as per your requirements.

    Cons :

    • Though it has Online Website Builder, but it doesn't support all the features that a full-fledged web design software housed offline supports.

Shopify is a great e-commerce platform for start-ups, mostly, mainly because it is very easy to use, user-friendly and intuitive. It has a wide array of beautiful and customizable themes, so if aesthetics are a big deal for your e-shop (and, from a marketing standpoint, they really should be), you have plenty of options to choose from, and it's very difficult to go wrong. You do, however, need to know some code to make some of the changes, particularly if you want to move the layout around. All in all, it's a very comprehensive tool: you can have a self-hosted blog on it, manage your products very efficiently, use coupons, create tags and categories, and do a lot of the things you can need from an e-shop. That said, in order to get the full spectrum of Shopify capabilities you WILL (and this is a fact, if you want a truly functional e-commerce platform) need to purchase apps, and costs can add up, especially if they are recurrent (such as monthly) payments.

In terms of payment options, there's plenty to choose from, but if you're very keen on having a particular company process the payments for you, you should take this into consideration before choosing a theme, and even before choosing an e-commerce platform at all, as not all companies are compatible with Shopify, and some themes make PayPal integration difficult and hard to follow for customers –I can't tell you how many times I've seen this keep a purchase from happening.

Customer service and their own blog are impeccable and very useful. In conclusion, while it's a great tool to begin with, in which your product can be beautifully highlighted and efficiently sold, it has certain drawbacks, and you should do a lot of research according to your specific needs.

    Pros :

    • Lots of available themes.
    • Easy to use.
    • Does the job.
    • Great customer service.

For a "site-builder" type of system, this one is incredibly versatile and easy for non-developers to use to put up a working and robust shopping cart quickly and easily.

    Pros :

    • The biggest pro for me was that you can add your themes and customize the theme to suit you.
    • Most site builders don't give you those kinds of options.
    • This makes it easier for it to grow with your business.
    • It integrates with several online payment gateways - so you have lots of options.
    • It also has a lot of shipping options.

    Cons :

    • You are beholden to Shopify and whatever they want to charge you for processing credit cards.
    • So when they raise rates, you don't have much of a choice but to pay them.
    • There are a lot of third-party apps to increase functionality, but that also raises what you pay, so your affordable solution can quickly cost a lot before you know it.

I have used a number of eCommerce platforms in the past, and Shopify always seems to stand out from the rest. While Shopify mainly targets online shops, it includes a website builder which is user-friendly and very simple to use. In general, I have found that it is simpler than a number of website builders provided by competing eCommerce platforms. While Shopify includes a number of useful eCommerce features out of the box, there are also a decent amount of third party plugins which can be added, to further enhance the feature set. This is similar to WordPress, with the difference that Shopify includes more shop-oriented features by default. On the rare occasions where help was required from Shopify support staff, this was delivered in a polite manner, with a very friendly attitude. This contrasts with Weebly's customer service, which leaves a lot to be desired. Another reason to use Shopify, is that it has its own payment processing system, which allows customers to make payments directly through the website, rather than having to resort to third-party payment solutions such as PayPal and Google Wallet. Having said that, this comes at a cost though, as Shopify pocket a fee for each transaction made. In fact, Shopify is far from cheap, especially when considering credit card processing fees besides monthly subscription fees. These pricing plans also contain SSL certificates, so at least there is peace of mind involved, in terms of security. While there are a number of eCommerce platforms available, another important reason to use Shopify is that it is highly optimised and performs very well, which contrasts greatly with a CMS like Drupal which is quite bulky and slow. Statistics indicate that online shoppers often abandon their orders due to long waiting times, so a Shopify-built site is a good choice for preventing this. All in all, Shopify is definitely one of the best eCommerce platforms available at the moment, and should definitely be taken for a test drive!

    Pros :

    • User-friendly website builder.
    • Decent amount of third-party plugins.
    • Helpful customer support.
    • SSL certification means websites built with Shopify should be secure.
    • Generally much faster and more optimised than WooCommerce, BigCommerce and other eCommerce solutions.

    Cons :

    • Shopify is not cheap.

Shopify is a great tool if for your website.shopify allows us to have an e-commerce service in our websites. I built an e-commerce website using Shopify and, believe me, it was worth the subscription. The website had a user-friendly interface, it was easy to use, there were templates, different color layouts, effects, picture layouts and many more options when building a website. It saves us money from learning to programming for an e-commerce website and from hiring someone else to create you an e-commerce website as Shopify have made things easier for us.

    Pros :

    • The ability to email/communicate with customers.
    • Affordable SEO optimized.
    • Easy to use.

    Cons :

    • No POS on Android.
    • Customizing websites needs an expert advice.

Shopify was extremely easy to use if you have a small business that wants to start doing come e-commerce. I build an e-commerce website through Shopify as a side gig from my full-time job. It was for a ponytail wrap. The website was extremely user-friendly and allowed you to edit, preview, and decide whether or not you wanted to actually save those changes or not. There were quite a few templates to choose from, all with different looks and feels. All of the templates also used a variety of color options, picture layouts, shopping cart functions and more.

Shopify's dashboard was fairly simple to use, my one struggle was figuring out how they labeled certain things and what they were called. There were some cases I would be in a window editing something and not totally sure where the edit would appear on the website. As someone that has no website knowledge when it comes to e-commerce websites, that was rather challenging at times. Other than that though, uploading product images, the store logo and all of the information about the store/products was extremely easy. I didn't have to do any formatting when it came to that. Everything laid out extremely nice and was easy to use.

Another added bonus when it came to Shopify which is important on an e-commerce site was the ability to handle payments easily. Since I was dealing with a small business they do most of their sales and payments through PayPal, I was able to enter all of the PayPal account information easily, and it went seamlessly into the shopping cart function of the website, which was perhaps one of my biggest stressors when it came to building an e-commerce website. As making sure, the transactions are valid is so important not only for the store owner, but for those buying the products.

    Pros :

    • Great template options.
    • Payment options were so easy to enter and included when you sign up!
    • Uploading product pictures/store logo was easy.

    Cons :

    • In the dashboard, labeling was somewhat confusing, and I was not always sure what I was editing. Sometimes had to use trial and error to see what changed on the preview page.
