  • This is a program that comes with no surprises. If you're just looking for a way to make an FTP transfer, this handy tool will get the job done in no time. It is also a good program to use for someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with file transfers. As long as they have all the information they need to connect to a server, it should be easy enough to understand even for a beginner.

  • It has a very simple interface and this makes it easy to use by anyone. Save different site profiles and connect to remote server with one click.

WinSCP is used by many computer technicians or developers because it is a free open source client that acts as the SFTP client function, or FTP, or WebDAV, and also SCP client for Windows. It was developed to easily perform file transfer between a local computer and a remote computer (FTP or SFTP server mostly) in a safe and reliable.

    Pros :

    • The installation of the software is fast and really takes up little space, 2 megabytes or so, this can be installed by simply downloading the executable WinSCP.exe directly from the official website https://winscp.net/.
    • The user interface is really very basic and simple, already at the first use will be very clear what parameters to set to establish a faster connection.
    • The secure transfer sessions take place using the Secure Shell (SSH standard), guaranteeing that any information exchanged is visible only to those directly affected. (Between these there is also the possibility of using SCP, also based on SSH).
    • It is possible to upload or download files, rename files, and remote folders, as well as create new ones, change the properties of each of them to enable reading or writing to specific users, as well as create shortcuts to avoid the presence of multiple copies of the same file.
    • Among the accessories figure then a system for synchronizing folders, so that the remote copy tracings exactly the content of its own local folder.it is also available in Italian language.
    • Being totally Windows style interface will allow you to interact directly with the files almost like he was working in a Windows folder (in Windows Explorer).
    • You can make changes to remote files directly from the program (therefore without the need to unload and reload the file on the remote server), and you can also create new files, change its properties, or synchronize them with your local folders.
    • Once you connected to the server, you can save IP and password, so you do not have to retype them.
    • Another curiosity is that is easily integrated with Putty, the software also it often used by system engineers and developers to have quick access to the SSH shell.

    Cons :

    • I have no objection to this product, it is free, it is very light and does exactly that for which it was developed.
