QuickBooks Review by Cloudswave

QuickBooks may be a new accounting platform, but its pedigree goes back to 1983. Before this software took off, the company behind it was making Quicken. That offering was so popular, it soon had 85% of its market. 11 years before that, though, the company behind this title, Inuit, was getting started. If you thought 30+ years in the industry would do anything other than sharpen this organization’s ability to produce amazing, feature-rich software, QuickBooks will soon show you otherwise. However, if their unrivaled history doesn’t convince you, then let’s take a closer look at what this platform has to offer.

What Is QuickBooks?

For those who are completely unfamiliar with any of the above, let’s hit a quick summary about QuickBooks. It’s accounting software that’s mostly marketed toward small- and medium-sized businesses. A lot of business owners use it because they don’t have the budget for an accountant. With QuickBooks, they don’t necessarily need one and their results won’t suffer.
QuickBooks also makes it possible to conduct transactions by accepting payments and immediately making a record of it. You can use the software to then manage and pay bills with this money as well.

User-Friendliness

The majority of us have a hard time just making a budget, much less sticking to it. Perhaps you were never very good at balancing a checkbook either. You might be the type of person who hesitates before checking their balance at the ATM too.
Whatever the case, you’re certainly not alone and the success of QuickBooks is evidence of this. While it definitely helps with far more than just these basic tasks, the point is that it makes everything so simple.
You don’t need an advanced degree to use QuickBooks. You don’t even have to be very financially-savvy. The fact that millions of people have started their own business simply because they had a passion for it is a testament to how well QuickBooks works for the average user. Did all of those business owners go out and buy a copy? Sadly, no. However, the stats show that a lot of them did and were better for it.

Support and Tutorials

Still, if you’re having trouble committing to the idea of using QuickBooks, there’s hope for you yet. Inuit has done a tremendous job of providing help to those who are worried about using their software. Even after you buy it, begin using it and see how easy this platform is, given the sensitive nature of your finances, it’s only natural that you’ll want to make sure you’re doing everything correctly.
This is where the company’s website is a priceless aid. They have a help section, like you’d expect, but you’ll also find some very detailed tutorials too. You don’t have to worry that this is going to be one of those platforms you pay full price for but only use 10% of. These tutorials will walk you through every last detail of what is possible.
Their site’s small business center is also a treasure trove. Type in any question you have or just browse around. Chances are you’ll learn a thing or two you weren’t even aware of. The QuickBooks blog is also a great resource. They update it daily and cover everything from new software to experiments you may want to try for your company to tips for using QuickBooks.
Finally, as if all of this wasn’t enough, you can get in-person help from a QuickBooks expert. Most people will have dozens of profiles to choose from within a 10-mile radius of where they live. Can you think of another company that offers this level of assistance?

Sync Up with Your Bank

While QuickBooks is awesome, at the end of the day, the buck stops with your bank. QuickBooks doesn’t actually hold on to any money for you. It’s vital that you still check your statements regularly and monitor your company’s account.
Inuit thought of this. That’s why it’s so easy to sync QuickBooks with your bank account. You can download transactions for both your bank and credit card whenever you want, categorize and reconcile them with your QuickBooks software and make sure everything is in order.

Get Paid

Although QuickBooks doesn’t technically handle your money, it will do a good job of making sure you get more of it. With this platform, you can effortlessly email invoices to your clients and, most importantly, accept payments online or through their mobile devices. You never want to put a delay between you and the money you’ve earned and with QuickBooks, you won’t have to.

QuickBooks Is Mobile

Given how much QuickBooks can do, it would be pretty crazy if Inuit hadn’t made it mobile-friendly. Well, you can put those concerns to rest because QuickBooks can follow you wherever you go. Take care of business on the plane, in the airport, the cab or from your hotel room. If you get an email about your company’s finances, just bring up the app to take care of it.
As you’d probably expect, the app works on smartphones, tablets and your computer. Inuit did a good job of ensuring that the interface doesn’t suffer because of the size of the screen.

Security Features You’ll Love

Ever done a ton of work, say, on a word processor and then something went wrong? Maybe your computer froze or the battery ran out when you weren’t paying attention? Whatever the case, you lost everything.
This is definitely frustrating, but it could be apocalyptic if the same happened with your finances. That’s why QuickBooks was designed to run a backup of your information automatically. You never have to remind yourself to hit “save” or do something similar.
Of course, you also know there will be plenty of people looking to save your information too. Inuit didn’t take any chances, so you’ll get to enjoy using a platform that has security on par with major banks.
Running your own business is hard enough without having to keep your accounting straight. With QuickBooks, it’s like you have your own private accountant in the palm of your hand.

My company has been using QBs for more than 5 years now. I especially enjoy the ease of use and user-friendly format. Even without accounting knowledge you can quickly get up to speed within QuickBooks Online. We have never used QB desktop so it would be unfair to advise online over the desktop. We like the simplicity of having it always at hand, wherever you are – working from PC, laptop or phone. Our requirements are constantly changing, so QuickBooks Online is a great solution.

Pros :

  • The ease of several functions are excellent, particularly payroll, invoicing, time and expense, and financial statement report generation. The business problems solved by using QuickBooks Online is the ability to automatically generate and invoice tax documents from the accounting records. This is an excellent tool to be able to automatically generate payroll, 1099s, and other documents, especially since these reporting demands are ever increasing.
  • We are now taking care of accounting and bookkeeping all in two/or three days of the month, rather than taking multiple days across multiple apps. It also offers my bank and credit card transactions reviews in one place, where you can approve them and categorize them. It makes it easy to see exactly how much of our money is going where in any given month.

Cons :

  • That said, I dislike that you can not (at least I was not able to figure out) how to prepare completely standardized reports from the data that is available in QB online (e.g. sales report by state, etc.), so I had to perform manual, time-intensive reviews of sales. Another complaint is if you do not use QuickBooks or Intuit for your credit card payment processor there is no easy integration with QuickBooks Online. Finally, service fee taken when a client pays me through the app is a bit high in my opinion especially as most of the payment apps take lower fees.

Bill.com Use Cases and Deployment ScopeMy clients use Bill.com as the system of record for disbursements to vendors and for reimbursement of employee expenses.  This solution is being used across each organization and enables multi-level review and approval of payables obligations, central repository for documents from vendors and mobile management and access to vendor, cash flow and remittance information for management review without having to access each firms' accounting system.  Bill.com seamlessly integrates with accounting systems --- my clients use QuickBooks, both hosted and online, NetSuite and Xero.  Bill.com also integrates with Expensify, so employee expense reports can also go through multiple-level review and payments can be tracked and made electronically.

This accounting software includes everything you need to increase efficiencies, streamline business processes and satisfy reporting requirements. Using QuickBooks 2015, you can invoice and bill clients, track customers, manage employees, and track inventory. With a few add-ons, such as direct deposit and payroll processing, it can perform all business tasks easily, freeing your energy up to do other things, like visiting clients and growing your company.

I have been using bill.com for about 2 years. The problems are many and too much to list here. Today I contact bill.com for the 1st time (nearly impossible as they do everything they can to hind a phone number) I requested that our accounting software consulting company be removed from our bill.com account and I am told that only the terminated firm can "release" our bill.com account and it is 100% up to them. Keep that in mind if you choose to try this service. If you end your relationship with your software provider they are still in control of your accounts payable tool???? Totally unacceptable to our company and think long and hard before you make the same mistake we did and using bill.com for your AP needs.

What do you like best?I don't know, I can't get access because there is no support on the weekend. I would like to have tried it, but can't! What do you dislike? There is virtually no support on the weekend. I have had QB in the past and evidently there have messed up my userid/password and they are not around to help AT ALL. I decided to try QB again because the idea of using it online sounds great. But if you can't get access to it, what good is it.
