  • I wholeheartedly recommend Babbel. It is a very well put together language program that helped me see a noticeable improvement in my German. I wouldn’t rely on Babbel alone for your language studying, but instead I think it could be a valuable part of a balanced language routine.

  • For an inexpensive and little-known language-learning program, Babbel exceeds expectations, delivering high quality courses for anyone who doesn't mind an online-only program.
I've been exploring Babbel's courses for a few weeks, focusing on German but dabbling in Spanish and Italian a bit to get a sense of how much different courses vary. Considering I had never heard of Babbel before I started testing it, I approached the online language-learning program with more than an ounce of skepticism regarding quality of the content. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise.

  • A favorite of on-the-go language learners. Babbel's web-only option and impressive apps make it an ideal choice for mobile users. While Babbel's content can't compete with heavyweights like Rosetta Stone or Tell Me More, reviewers and users say its interactive online lessons, excellent app, speech recognition and vocabulary lists make learning a foreign language both fun and achievable, without breaking the bank. Babbel offers full courses in seven languages and vocabulary-only courses in four languages. One cautionary note for Swedish students, however: many native speakers on message boards complain that some of the terms aren't accurate.

Babbel is an online learning program that delivers thirteen quality language courses. Once students registered, for free, they can download their first lesson; after that the membership is paid. It asks them to allow speech recognition so they can use a mic for speaking skills practice. They develop listening skills by listening to words in the target language; then they have the opportunity to record their own voice. I like both, the App and the website from Babbel, it focuses on listening and writing skills, its main focus is repetition for learning. It visually reinforces what students are reading in the target language, presenting lots of new vocabulary words at once.

By reading new words, the learner acquires new knowledge through acquisition. Great tool for the kinesthetic learner and a great way to incorporate technology into your repertoire, students can use their own devices to practice through the App or the website. I liked it because it allows students to take the beginner or advanced level depending on their knowledge so we can differentiate in class. In addition, I like it because it incorporates grammar, visual cues, audio and allows students to practice their knowledge of the target language.

The lesson is presented with a New vocabulary a dialogue, grammar instruction and a thorough review of what you’ve learned. It usually takes students from fifteen to twenty minutes to go through a lesson and at the end a numerical score is given as feedback. The App is for free, which is always a plus. It uses boards to match words, students translate complete sentences and read grammar points and language nuances throughout the lesson. At the end of the lesson, it gives students a score!

    Pros :

    • I like how Babbel is presented, great content, awesome explanations, drill repetition and thorough review at end of each lesson.
    • Very much like a traditional class instruction.
    • It is not very expensive.
    • You can buy a month to month membership if you prefer.

    Cons :

    • It is not set up as a game so it can be intense at time.
    • Try to use it along with other more interactive games to balance it.

It's fun to use Babbel to learn foreign languages, especially useful for people who want to pick up a long-forgotten language or who are too busy to attend regular classroom courses. Amazing! Thank you!

Great for the beginner who wants to know Italian for a vacation or a year abroad...I have studied with Babbel for over two years, and luckily, I found cloudswave.com offering a discount for this year's subscription renewal. I like the product overall; the website is easy to navigate and they have improved the lessons frequently over the last two years. The negative that I can express about the product is that I am not satisfied with the grammar lessons, as they do not separate or dissect the verb tenses enough. It works well for beginners (level A1-B1), but for the intermediate speakers, they are lacking. I use the website to learn new vocabulary now, and I am now self-studying to refine my verb tense usage since Babbel does not offer the lessons.

I am terrible in learning new languages in conventional ways. Babble helps me learn any language I like (Swedish in my example) in an easy way. This is the first time ever I can learn a new language! Babbel method should get a 7 out of 5 from me, but I could only give a 5 out of 5 :(.

I love learning with Babbel - especially as you learn to speak the language not just understand it. The lessons are a good size, you can choose what topics you want to learn, and the methodology seems very comprehensive as you learn visually and by hearing with words repeated in different lessons. Grammar is taught in bite sized portions too. Well done Babbel.

It's great. I love the iphone app and I really enjoy how it has different people speaking so I can hear the different accents. It also does a great job (as opposed to duolingo) at explaining things, such as syntax or phrases that merit explanation rather than repetition.

It is really good, I am beginner and started to learn Spanish, The screens are really userfriendly and understandable for the begginner level also it is cheap. However i have some problems about microphone, i am not sure that if it is Babbel's problem or my computer. In any case sometimes it is not working. I already suggest Babbel to my firiends but i would like to see Engish lessons with Turkish explanations for who wants to learn English .

What an excellent way to learn a language. I downloaded this app one week ago and I feel miles ahead of where I would have been with any other method I have tried. Have it downloaded on my laptop, iPhone and iPad so whenever I have a spare moment I study and do the exercises. I can't say enough about this program, I love it and will continue to learn it and become fluent in Brazilian Portuguese. Bobby Dean - satisfied customer

This is a great program, especially now that they upgraded the mobile (Android) program to be the same as what's on the computer. Easy, fun, and reinforces learning with reviews and open responses.

A very useful and interactive program. It tracks your progress, gives reminders and concentrates on areas you need to improve. Babbel approaches language learning from a number of different angles which keeps your brain active at remembering not by wrote learning. Babbel takes the approach of teaching you the structure of the language, giving you a strong base to start from, then introduces word and sentence structure together with pronounciation. A worthwhile investment for learning another language at your own pace.
