  • Web.com offers a variety of hosting options, but many of its features are difficult to use. Excellent customer service makes up for that somewhat, but Web.com still isn't the greatest choice for Web hosting newbies.

  • Perhaps the best-known web hosting company in the world, Web.com specializes in designing, building, hosting, and managing websites for small-to-medium-sized businesses, non-profits, and consumers.

  • Customer support can really make or break a web hosting company as customers can often turn to a live person for help with their issues. Unfortunately with Web.com, their support isn’t at a competitive standard for the price they charge. It really does impose a disadvantage, and although outsourcing can be successfully implemented for some companies, Web.com simply isn’t one of them. If their support was of a high quality, it may have justified the price given their only adequate service; yet, it really was not. Web.com, although providing a functional service, does not stand as a competitive entity in the web hosting industry.

Web.com is a very average web service. You can purchase domains and web hosting from them. They use cPanel for web hosting, which is a hosting software that many other hosting services use. However, this cPanel seems to be out of date and lacking in features from other sites such as GoDaddy(Which I use to host another site). Overall, my site was easy to put up, and I suffered no login errors, but there are many flaws and better options if money is not a problem. Furthermore, Web.com is highly rated in part due to the low cost of hosting and the low cost of domains.

    Pros :

    • Overall, the hosting portion of the site worked perfectly.
    • I was able to get my site up and all the files, including scripts and other frameworks without any trouble at all.
    • Furthermore, the price was very cheap. 99 cents for a domain and to host is very low and the main reason I went with Web.com.
    • It truly was a great choice in that regard.

    Cons :

    • My biggest complaint thus far is that they sold my information. A day after purchasing a domain and setting up my website, I received a call from a company that wanted me to buy into their program to up my website on search results. They tried to scam me into it by giving me a promo code of 50% off of a $1000 package. I was very upset and once I realized what they website was, deleted the account. Much to my disdain, several days later I got called again, trying to get me to continue the purchase. I sternly left a message to not call back.
    • The problems continue from there. Customer Support is almost non-existent when I tried. I wanted to get answers on why I was getting calls about to buy into a scam search booster. I never was able to get an answer, the ones I did talk to you seemed like they did not know what was going on or what company I was talking about.

A client of mine got a website with Web.com. They want to charge like over $100/m for the website, hosting and SEO. They lure people in for free, build the site for free, and then hit ya with the high bill. I supposed for some people they can stomach that if they're serious about their business, but it probably turns a lot of people off. It was hard on my client for sure as he was constantly broke and unable to pay the bill to get his website moved or domain out.

    Pros :

    • Free upfront to build the site.

    Cons :

    • You're locked in to paying over $100 per month, but you get valuable services for that, just not every small business wants to pay that much per month
