About Stripe

Stripe is a simple way to accept payments online. With Stripe you can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and Diners Club cards directly on your store. Stripe has no setup fees, no monthly fees, no hidden costs: you only get charged when you earn money! Earnings are transferred to your bank account on a 7 day rolling basis.

Stripe supports the Subscriptions extension.

Stripe also supports re-using cards. When a customer pays, they are setup in stripe as a customer. If they create another order they will be able to checkout using the same card. A massive timesaver for returning customers.

  • We have been using paypal for a few years but out customers where finding the user journey a bit cumbersome (paypal really tries to have you registered and it makes the payment process rather slow if you do not want to give away your contact and payment information). We have integrated stripe with freshbooks as this is a native integration so the transition away from paypal was really simple and quick. To really be a no brainer for a European company they still need to work on a few things (see cons below) but our clients are happier which is the most important

Pros : Easy sign-up and set-up Slick interface Effective support

Cons : No liquidation in USD if you are in Europe Fees are ok but FX-rate applied are higher than what you can get directly with your bank

  • Without any doubt, Stripe is a major contender in the new, simplified, stylized online payments industry.
Stripe gets a highly commendable 4.5 stars right out of the gate, thanks to their honest marketing, fair rates, and high-quality tools.

  • Stripe rates as a better-than-average merchant services provider according to our standards. Stripe’s transparent pricing model appears to satisfy the majority of its clients while its reserve policy, cancellation policy, and customer support are responsible for most of the company’s complaints.

Paypal and Stripe go head to head competing for the title of payment processors. This platform has a very very simple approach, they charge a flat rate of 2.9% plus 30 cents per successful charge. (This is if you are doing less than one million dollars a year.) The high volume rates I do not know how much they are. The values also change by country basis. The base for Stripe's competition, Paypal is the same BUT PayPal has discounts based on volume.

Stripe is very big on security. By using Stripe.js (Javascript library) the credit card data is never ever sent through your server. Instead, the data is not stored and is sent directly to Stripe. This is really great because you will not have ANY credit card numbers on your server (That is a very big plus) You will never have a server breach and get in trouble. This is one of the amazing things that stripe has. If you are big on security and credit card fraud then this platform is for you

The API is something that I love about using Stripe. The API is VERY well documented and not inconsistent at all, that makes the product to be used seamlessly. Opposed to pay pal that has a very bad API integration experience.

Lastly customer service. Stripe has many channels of email support and also have a IRC channel where developers like me can chat and get live help from engineers (This is the best) The only thing that the customer service at Stripe really lacks, is the phone support. Either way, you can get your message heard and you can get help from a number of sources

In conclusion, if you are using Pay Pal you should give Stripe a chance, I did and I'm very happy.

    Pros :

    • Easy.
    • API integration.
    • Customer service.

    Cons :

    • Not volume discounts like Pay Pal

Stripe offers payment processing simple and hassle free. It's reliable, captures customer payments with as little information as you want to capture and never seems to fail. Most importantly fees are only charged for use. My business has been with Stripe for over two years and it's been pretty smooth all the way.

    Pros :

    • For my business, it mattered that Stripe offered a ready made integration to the platform (Bigcommerce) that I use. Installation is easy and works well within the checkout process alongside other options like PayPal. It's really important to have a pure card alternative to PayPal and at very low-cost Stripe fills that need. There being no monthly minimum fee is really great if you're a new or small business trying to establish, and the payment processing rates are then very competitive.
    • What I like about Stripe is the speed of the transaction helped by the limited number of hurdles (actions) that are required of the customer to complete the sale. Stripe have a really friendly team so any queries are well handled, and deposits to my bank are seamless and timely.
    • We've lately started using Stripe to process card payments where the customer is on the phone or present at our business. While this is only a small part of what we do it's good to have the facility and saves on the expense of a card reader. The transaction capture is simple, the customer details stored for next time, and an email receipt issued to the customer almost instantly.
    • Stripe can do a lot more than I need it for so it might still be worth checking out even if you have more complex business need.

    Cons :

    • I only have one issue with Stripe which is that the dashboard is a bit painful at times, perhaps not as intuitive as my mind needs! While the business and transaction reports offered are perfectly good, I don't always find it so easy to access them. andnbsp;

Setting up a new merchant account, integrating it with various checkouts/services, and processing cards is simple with Stripe. You can literally have a new account set up in minutes and processing.

    Pros :

    • Integrates with many services and allows even more integrations when paired with services like Zapier.

    Cons :

    • None to mention.
    • Service always worked well for us and is very easy to use.

Stripe is one of the best online payment processors for all types of businesses. It offers you a complete peace of mind regarding security of the customer credit card information and other compliances allowing businesses to focus on their core competencies. It offers a quick set up, and you are ready to accept as soon as the set up completes. It skips formalities like creating a merchant account to be functional unlike PayPal which requires merchants to create a PayPal account first and the money comes first to PayPal account and then can be transferred to bank account later on. Stripe directly transfers the money to the bank account.

    Pros :

Stripe supports Bitcoin and Apple pay though Apple Pay is only for physical purchases. Stripe supports payments in more than 100 currencies. It has special set of Connect tools specifically designed to facilitate payments for online marketplaces. Apart from providing foreign currency transactions, it helps in verifying international sellers, gives the flexibility to choose the transaction description on the credit card statement and also provides the option for scheduling the payments. It offers an API through which it can be seamlessly integrated with any existing application. It charges a nominal fee for chargebacks and refunds the entire fee if the chargeback is ruled in the favor of the merchant. There is no monthly fixed fee even if you are a small merchant. Also, no credit card information ever reached the merchant’s server and helped merchants achieve PCI compliance. Stripe is very generous to allow moving your credit card data if you ever chose to change your payment provider. Otherwise, you will have to ask all of your customers to sign up and save their credit cards again.

    Cons :

Stripe charges a fixed fee and a 2.9% of the transaction amount but unlike other payment processors, it does not offer additional discounts for high-value transactions. There is no customer support over the phone and a lot of times email responses are template responses. The payout takes a long time of 7 days while other competitors like PayPal offers payout in 1 day.
