Cloudswave Score for Dwolla

Dwolla is making waves in the credit card processing industry. The company offers a low-cost, low-risk payment alternative for merchants. The only drawback to the service is that both the merchant and customer need to have Dwolla accounts. Therefore, the service is best used as a supplement to a traditional credit card processing service. The service is especially useful for business-to-business payments and rent payments.

I’ve been using Dwolla for a while now to receive payments from several companies, and it has been extremely easy to use. The fees are lower than other services, and the functionality works well too. The main problem I’m finding so far is that not enough companies are using them, and as such it makes it tough to use them often enough. Once there is a larger number of companies and individuals using them, I’m sure they’ll become my go-to payments network.

I’m always on the lookout for alternative payment methods that can either save you money or help you process more efficiently. At the very least, you should add Dwolla as an additional payment option…similar to Paypal. There might not be that many people using Dwolla now, but the user base is growing daily, and the savings you can see from even a few transactions will be well worth it. Especially if you sell big ticket items.

I have had my Dwolla account for several months now and have been very happy with it. I do not feel that they misrepresented themselves in any way and their customer service has always been prompt.

For small, trusted transactions then I would absolutely use Dwolla over PayPal. For large payments, I’m not 100% convinced Dwolla is ready. I’d like to see better data about fraud situations before I jump in full force. One way to protect yourself would be to have a separate bank account that you only keep small amounts of money in to transfer to and from your Dwolla account. That way if your account is somehow compromised you don’t stand to have your entire checking account wiped out.
From Payment Systems
To sum everything up, Dwolla does provide a very user-friendly environment for online transactions and the low transaction fee of $0.25 for transfer of funds more than $10 really is an eye-catcher for the customers. Plus the security safeguarding the money ensures a tension-free customer-service provider relationship. No wonder why this company has achieved so much after just a few years into the e-commerce world.
