My first impression with Dynamics CRM about three years ago was not great. I've used many of the popular CRM products reviewed on this site, and there are many great solutions out there. If your company has adopted Microsoft Cloud products like Office 365, the Windows operating system, or other elements of the Dynamics business application family, Dynamics CRM Online is a great option for small businesses and large enterprises, For full disclosure, I work for a Dynamics CRM partner which also offers other Microsoft products. A few years ago when I first tried it out, I wasn't at all impressed when I tried their v4.0 product. I have had my frustrations with Microsoft products, and I have expressed my views on them. I've really been impressed how much has changed over the past few years, to make it easy for sales, customer service and marketing professionals to track support cases, opportunities, client interactions and generate reports.

Pros : - Dynamics CRM Online isn't just a "watered down" version of the Microsoft solution, it is very powerful and offers a really flexible, user friendly experience. - There are a number of ways you can customize MS CRM Online for other business processes beyond CRM - HR, memberships, volunteers, events, and there are quite a few professional/amateur sports associations and teams who have bought Microsoft CRM because of how much the solution can be tailored to different use cases. - Microsoft is evolving to make their products compatible with different device platforms, and with apps for iOS and Android, and browser flexibility improving all the time, times are changing. - There are a number of ISV solutions, such as Click Dimensions, The Portal Connector and InsideView which can add a lot of value to Dynamics CRM for marketing, self-serve customer portals to Dynamics CRM. There are a lot of integrations with other Microsoft apps like PowerBI, OneNote, and Dynamics AX, but that's to be expected. You can find many addons

Cons : As a Canadian user, I don't have access to Cortana. I'm not sure how much I'd use it to be honest, but watching some of the promotional videos it seems to be pretty cool. There seems to be a compatibility issue between the new Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10, but Microsoft will likely get that addressed really soon. The CRM search function has improved, how you can search across the entire system from a central place. Sometimes I have you looked for a contact I knew is in the system I haven't been able to find as easily as I should. No software is without its quirks, but Dynamics CRM has evolved a great deal, and has gained a lot of marketshare in the process.

I think it's fair to state that if you are a startup, you have to move along to find another software to manage your Sales process. Simply because this a huge system, that has a lot of experience built into, big community (but not so organized and the responses from Salesforce is what you'd expect from a dinosaur) and a huge marketplace to look for apps. If you are a startup, you need something easy to maintain, something that you can setup and start using it right then and there. None of this is found in Salesforce. But it is one of the most flexible systems I have every known. If you have money to pay for the Enterprise Edition. We have the Pro Edition and meets our needs half way. That's the way it works that version, almost anything you need to do has a sign on it that says "If you want this, move to EE.". Very frustrating, but if you have a bit of imagination, you can find a way to work around those problems and use most of it.

Pros :

They liberated the workflows for Contracts, a bit limited for our needs, but serves the purpose of verification and authorization of contracts. The Reports are the most flexible feature they have, along with the custom fields. Dashboards are a great way to communicate metrics and create operational boards. Not really the system, but they have a huge marketplace to look for apps, with the ability to extend greatly the features of SF.

Cons :

I have experience with Pro Edition. So:

  • If you want full workflows, buy the Enterprise Edition.
  • If you want triggers, but the EE - etc. Forecast doesn't work because it lacks of the ability to configure the right permissions. Their UI/UX sucks. Dashboards only have the ability to hold 20 components.
  • If you want several metrics and need to use the metric component you can easily reach that limit, Charts in Reports are very limited in configuration and charts types.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 is a large program and has many moving parts, which do require some configuration and effort to get working properly on premises. The online version should appeal to small and even medium-sized businesses with limited IT resources. Tight integration with Microsoft Office and other Microsoft offerings should make this a very appealing release for any organization looking to streamline their sales and marketing automation.

For a company just starting with online collaboration, or looking for an easy upgrade, Capsule could be at the top of a list to consider. It offers the sales-oriented focus that small teams need. But if you’re already running another software management system, is it worth switching to Capsule? That’s a tough call. As promising as Capsule is for small groups, it still requires a big effort to manage properly. This capsule is worth trying, but it still might hurt to swallow.

CampaignerCRM is a robust, easy-to-use tool. Its great support and training make this a great free option for sole proprietors and a great value proposition for larger businesses in need of customizing complex sales cycles in the Sales Process Manager offer.

I've used this app primarily while conducting marketing efforts. It has been particularly valuable to me as I previously had to contact one of my analysts in the office to provide information on upcoming meetings/contacts. Now, I am able to easily pull the data and log info myself - cutting out the middleman.

Capsule CRM is a very capable CRM for a range of orthodox business requirements. If you are doing anything unusual you could easily find its limits but for many it could be a tool to support significant business growth.
