  • I've used HubSpot at two different jobs now, and in both cases have found it very simple to use considering the powerful features. Compared to other similar solutions like Marketo, I find HubSpot much more user friendly. I have always been impressed by the quality of the support, even though it can sometimes take time to get assistance.

Pros : Easy to use, flexible, saves time, high quality support

Cons : Price can be tough for smaller businesses and start-ups, support response time can be long

  • Hubspot offers a great suite of features and the opportunity to manage every aspect of your online marketing from one location. If you’ve already picked up a program for your email marketing and your social media profiles, and already manage your website on a CMS like Joomla or WordPress, it’s hard to fathom using a program like Hubspot as a replacement for these existing (and mostly free) systems, especially when it comes down to the price tag.

  • What do you like best?

The HubSpot software is so intuitive. Creating emails, blogposts, landing pages in Hubspot has helped my team cut their work in half. We all really enjoy the clean and easy to use interface and the ability to integrate other apps and software. However, the best thing about Hubspot is how micro we can get with segmentation. Segmentation is the foundation of effective marketing. Hubspot allows us to not only customize our lists, but get a very clear understanding of every one of our customers behavior so we can better serve them.

    What do you dislike?

The only thing I wish Hubspot would do is make updates to their social media and analytic dashboard. As social media is becoming increasingly important for your brand, it would be nice if Hubspot could eventually get more granular with social data so we didn't have to turn to other software to get more specific readings (Twitter growth, Facebook growth, engagement growth within our hosted Linkedin Groups since we are a B2B, etc)

Compared to using a tool like Eloqua, Hubspot is much easier to use. Setting up forms, landing pages and emails is much easier and efficient than a tool like Eloqua. It's great that you really don't need any coding experience to use the tool, but it also makes it very rigid to make changes to the templates they provide. Support is very responsive, but the amount of time I needed to use it really makes you aware of how much improvement the tool needs.

    Pros :

    • I enjoy how easy the tool is to use. It takes seconds to build forms, unlike other tools like Eloqua and Liveball, which are much more time consuming. Landing pages don't require any coding experience at all making them very easy to build. It's easy to set up email campaigns as well.

    Cons :

    • The reporting add on is absolutely terrible. It's nearly impossible to report on anything using the tool.
    • Reporting in general I find is very challenging to do in Hubspot.
    • Everything lives in different places making it impossible to report on multiple things in one place especially when you try to build out a dashboard.
    • When using Hubspot for email be aware that they will not send emails to anyone who has hard bounced from anyone in their database.
    • So your emails could not be delivered because they hard bounced when they were sent an email from anyone of Hubspot customers using their tool.
    • We recently discovered this when several emails weren't delivered from people who had never hard bounced from our emails.
    • After doing some research we have actually realized that this information is actually not accurate, so Hubspot is now is the process of fixing this issue.
    • So emails were being not delivered based on inaccurate information in the Hubspot system. It has been a complete disaster and has taken over a week for Husbpot to take responsibility in fixing the error.
    • I enjoy how easy the tool is to use. It takes seconds to build forms unlike other tools like Eloqua and Liveball , which are much more time consuming.
    • Landing pages don't require any coding experience at all making them very easy to build. It's easy to set up email campaigns as well.

    Wow! I am thoroughly impressed with HubSpot from almost all aspects. andnbsp;The interface is very clean and it felt very intuitive with minimal guidance or tutorials. Support was available throughout our trial and very accessible for any questions. I hate to say it, but it turned out HubSpot was not within the budget for our organization so unfortunately, I did not get to use HubSpot beyond our trial period. However, we are a startup and as our organization grows, we have basically committed to returning once the time is right. andnbsp;Looking beyond the price tag, HubSpot really feels like an (almost) all in one marketing platform! I say almost because a small part of what we were interested in was the social media monitoring/management. andnbsp;

HubSpot seemed more centered around monitoring than management so for what it is, it worked very well but it left us hanging on only that one element. Our developers loved the email template builder and kept saying things like "interesting" and "really cool!" andnbsp;I loved it for its CRM which is one thing I'm happy they offer for free so we can stay connected with the brand in a sense for the time being.

    Pros :

    • The email template builder, with the help of our development team, created some beautiful and professional looking emails.
    • It was great how they can build the HTML design and leave editable boxes so marketers like myself can go in and customize the messages based on a series of templates depending on the purpose and not mess up the design.
    • The CRM was great. It was super easy to create custom fields and field types as well as control which fields are displayed so I could hide the default fields not relevant to our business.

    Cons :

    • Price! When price is heavily determined by size of contact list, and the nature of our website boasts a list of nearly 60,000 contacts even in its early stage (before 2-3 years of engagement), there was just no way to fit HubSpot into our budget. andnbsp; The team tried to work with us on a custom pricing, but it just didn't feel reasonable.
    • We really do hope to use HubSpot again some day but we couldn't come to terms with it at this point.

Happy HubSpot user for over 3 years now. Can't say enough about the initial onboarding process. Very thorough training and the HS staff are more than helpful in getting you set up with branded templates for your e-mails, landing pages, etc. No design work required.

Once set-up, the training videos and the help resources will be your best friend. Walks you through how to set up a tightly integrated campaign from content creation to optimization to list segmentation, HS guides you through how to run successful campaigns with helpful tips along the way so you don't miss an opportunity.

With social media monitoring, reporting along with your e-mail and blog tools all in one place, it's by far the best marketing automation tool I've seen.

    Pros :

    • The Salesforce integration has been awesome, very simple to set up exactly what contact info pulls through to account records in SF.
    • Simple editors for e-mails and blog entries and the tips for optimization have really been helpful.
    • The landing page tool really changed how we looked at our marketing efforts and we're now truly employing inbound marketing techniques to gather contact info in exchange for tailored content. It's made segmenting our lists that much easier as we're able to see who has downloaded what content and base lists off that info.
    • Dashboards are great for sending off weekly/monthly reports to senior management to show campaign effectiveness and lead generation numbers.
    • *BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE*- seriously the most helpful of all customer service I've ever encountered. I run into some coding issues sometimes when I want to mix up an e-mail template, they'll go right in and fix it for me.

    Cons :

    • The reports function is a bit basic. They do have an add-on feature for purchase that allows for a bit more of a deep dive into ROI for marketing efforts. I still find a lot of intangibles in our marketing activities that need to be accounted for to calculate ROI so my growing Excel spreadsheet is still working fine for that instead of reporting right within HS.
    • Seem to be rolling out many new add-ons for purchase as of late instead of making changes to the existing model for all users.

So how is Hubspot as a marketing automation tool? When I started my career in marketing, I started out working with Hubspot. As a newcomer to the industry and without any marketing automation knowledge whatsoever, I needed a system that was easy to use, easy to navigate and very simple to understand.

Hubspot did deliver on this. The user interface is really simple and straight forward, The design of the website is nice and user-friendly. Hubspot is a system that allows you to connect all your websites and forms to make sure you gather all of your data in one place. The process of exporting and importing data to Hubspot is very simple and very straight forward. You can create your own marketing templates, and the system allows you to be creative which is something I really enjoyed.

In terms of integration with CRM, this is something we never managed to do with Hubspot and in the end, this is why we changed to another marketing automation tool that had direct integration with our CRM system. When you have a bit company with many sales people, it is very important to automate the process of creating inbound marketing leads and lead them on to the salespeople via an automation process in a CRM system.

    Pros :

    • Very easy to use, very simple, user-friendly and allow creativity.
    • I would recommend Hubspot to all beginners in the industry, if you are at the beginning of the journey of implementing marketing automation.

    Cons :

    • Like many other marketing automation systems, you buy a licence with a certain amount of data available. I found, that we were always really close to hitting our limit - which is not the systems fault, but internally and lack of budget from my end.
    • It could be a bit tricky to go and find out what to delete in order to get more space available for leads. andnbsp;

This is a wonderful Inbound Marketing tool.

    Pros :

    • It is easy to navigate.
    • Benefitial to start up companies.

    Cons :

    • Some parts are harder to navigate, but the HubSpot team is always willing to lend a hand.

Hubspot rolls many different tools into one, meaning that you don't need to have a different piece of software for each different part of your marketing. I've been using Hubspot for 3 years and it has always been easy to use and quick for people to learn. It's a greta piece of software for SMEs looking to focus their marketing and really understand their ROI.

    Pros :

    • All the tools are easy to use and access. Social media, blogging, campaigns, landing pages, SEO, emails, CTAs, reports, keywords, competitors, workflows and more are available in the software.
    • It's great to be able to follow the buyers journey, from visitor to customers and get accurate information on what is working and what isn't.

    Cons :

    • The software is not cheap but the tools are worth it.

HubSpot is a good place to view activity on specific leads. There is a lot of information provided help to understand what a lead is interested in or what are their current needs. Although this tool is specific to Marketing, it is a truly helpful tool for Sales as well. By view the profile of lead, I can see which pages they have visited, which items they have downloaded, the exact time they had performed these functions, and much more.

HubSpot also allows integration directly into Salesforce, making it easier to view this information while viewing that leads provide in Salesforce. I can also view actions that have been taken with these leads through our marketing automation campaigns, which automated marketing emails they have opened, downloaded collateral from, or visited a website with a link within the email.

    Pros :

    • Being able to see what type of information the lead is interested in through our company's automated marketing campaigns provides me information that I can use to start a conversation with that lead.
    • If they open an email focusing on one product and not another, I can determine what their needs are and focus on that, rather than having a broad conversation and attempting to make a sell for a product in which they may have no interest.
    • There is a lot of additional information that is useful, such as when they first visited our website, what their first interaction was, and how they have progressed through the lead lifecycle.
    • The "Search in Google" option is very helpful if I want to learn more about the lead that I am unable to find within HubSpot or Salesforce, such as a LinkedIn Profile.
    • I can also view when a lead has requested to opt-out of emails, letting me know they are not interested in our solutions.

    Cons :

    • There is quite a lot of information that HubSpot can provide, but needs to be filled out manually, such as social media profiles and detailed contact data.
    • I'm not sure if or how this can be done automatically, but it would be very helpful.
    • It would also be helpful if there were a sales dashboard that can be viewed.

We have been a customer of HubSpot since 2011, and within the first months of starting, we saw both an increase in website visits and leads. As we continued to develop content and follow best practices recommended by HubSpot, we have seen tremendous growth. In February 2011, we had fewer than 10,000 visits per month, and January 2016, we exceeded 70,000 visits for the month. The added benefit of the increased visits and leads is that their quality of the lead has improved as well. We have had a close rate approaching 70%, which is outstanding.

    Pros :

    • Easy to use.
    • Customizable.
    • Many tools included in the annual subscription.
    • Always adapting and increasing product value.
    • Customer service is outstanding Free CRM.

    Cons :

    • The annual subscription is expensive; however, if you factor in an included CRM, free website hosting, and other tools available, the all-in-one HubSpot becomes much more affordable.

Hubspot Sales is a great tool to learn more about your contacts and their interaction with your content, whether it is a sent email, a website visit, or a multitude of other interactions with content you have shared with them. The tracking begins when they first visit your site, and the record made when they convert to lead. Impressive.

    Pros :

    • Know when your emails and linked content are opened. Find out when your contacts are revisiting your website.
    • Know when your contact reaches a page that is an indicator they are close to converting.
    • Track which content is leading to higher conversion rates.
    • Possibly determine what content a person views that makes them decide not to be a customer.
    • Integrates with Gmail as well as Outlook very easily.
    • Gives a quick synopsis of a lead/contact profile within email services to help remind you of the person to whom you are writing.

    Cons :

    • Must be used with discretion. It can be strange to contact a person while they are visiting a page and comment on it; however, with proactive live chat, it might not be as weird.

    Pros :

    • Great landing pages.
    • Easy to build contacts.
    • Great analytic data.
    • Great resources.
    • Training available.

    Cons :

    • Has a small issue with email deliverability but the problem was diagnosed and a resolution was found.
