About Tumblr

Tumblr is a re-envisioning of tumblelogging, a subset of blogging that uses quick, mixed-media posts. The service hopes to do for the tumblelog what services like LiveJournal and Blogger did for the blog. The difference is that its extreme simplicity will make luring users a far easier task than acquiring users for traditional weblogging. Anytime a user sees something interesting online, they can click a quick “Share on Tumblr” bookmarklet that then tumbles the snippet directly. The result is varied string of media ranging links and text to pictures and videos that takes very little time and effort to maintain.

There is little to no learning curve involved in using tumblr. Features are intuitive and quick to establish. Users simply sign up and begin posting in a minute.

  • Tumblr Use Cases and Deployment ScopeIt is very simple and easy to use. My work is very visual and Tumblr provides a great platform for more visual posts.

Pros : Easy to post visualsEasy to search tagsEasy to implement

Cons : More professional optionsBetter personalizationMore font options

  • Although , It's not the platform for someone who wants to have total control over every aspect of a site's design. Big businesses, hard-core Web designers and long-form bloggers typically use other kinds of blog software. It's hard to recommend another platform for those who want to get their toes wet in the world of blogging or who'd like to connect to a pretty vibrant, rapidly expanding community. All in all, Tumblr is fairly foolproof, quick and easy to use, and increasingly popular.

  • Overall, the app now looks more polished in terms of the user-interface, is faster and has not compromised much on its functionality. Existing users shouldn't shy away from updating to the new version while new users will enjoy blogging on-the-go with Tumblr in its all-new avatar.

Tumblr definitely is the best website there could be for a blogger. I myself just started on it. I would just simply put my diagrams up online and slowly and gradually, a number of people became regular followers. The thing which particularly fascinates me is the ability to change our themes. The themes can be anything like whatever we want, this feature, this particular feature sets it apart from any other platform. With tumblr, you feel like you own the website, like you are the creator, the designer behind what others are viable to see. You can add references to directories, such as the ability to browse through posts published a week earlier, or a month earlier, or a year earlier, or back to a particular month in any year. The layout can show posts as an exhaustive list with many pages, or a continuos stream like Facebook. This is what pertained me to join tumblr.

Also it isn't like there is no audience, believe me, tumblr has millions of subscribers. It has people of all interests and of every niche. What bugs me though is it is limited to only those who upload graphic content, if you are a writer or an ordinary blogger, then I would never suggest a look at tumblr. I was rather stunned to see many prominent features missing from it, but it isn't any website maker either, so I am still pleased to look at it how it is. I have gained a huge fan base in a short time here at tumblr so I have to say, it is definitely worth a go and a definite change from the looks of facebook pinterest.

    Pros :

    • Well you do have a huge fan base and the ability to create or post new content is fairly simple.
    • It has a feature similar to instagram's repost.

    Cons :

    • It does however have a disadvantage over the ability to customize everything, other than that, I see no flaws but only a huge potential.

A great place for image-based content and a great site for people who want to get into blogging. It’s very easy to use, requiring very little training. There’s also a Tumblr app so that you can post and edit blogs directly from your smartphone. Overall, I like Tumblr, but I think it might be better for personal use rather than for brands. A blog hosted on your own corporate web page would probably carry more credibility and will allow you to post lengthier content.

    Pros :

    • It's free, and you can get your page set up very quickly with virtually no training.
    • You can customize your blog with different pre-made themes to change the appearance to your liking without needing design experience.
    • You can schedule posts to go out directly within Tumblr, so you don’t have to use Hootsuite like you do with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and virtually every other content-sharing site.
    • I like that you can add a lot of photos to each post- up to 10. You can also follow other people and reblog what they’ve posted.

    Cons :

    • Tumblr is for content that is less text heavy, so it's really only ideal if you plan to share very visual content.
    • If you need an outlet for more lengthy content, such as blogs or articles, you'll be better off publishing that on other sites, such as LinkedIn or on your corporate blog
    • There are likely a lot of people using the theme that you’ve selected, so if you want more unique design, Tumblr might not be the space for you.
    • Additionally, the dashboard is a bit less intuitive compared to WordPress.

For a true beginner, getting attracted by Tumblr is not at all unexpected. Tumblr makes it easy to design a blog. People can follow other's blogs as well. The usage of Tumblr is particularly very easy, and this has in recent times attracted mammoth-like attention from the bloggers around the world. With lots of customization and advanced features does Tumblr come up with but the most experienced bloggers would stick around with Blogger by Google. Blogger has what a developer needs where as Tumblr is for those who keep on updating photos every now and then. Still as an enthusiast, Tumblr is a worthy choice.

    Pros :

    • Simple to use.
    • Intuitive.
    • Lot of customization.

    Cons :

    • Advanced features missing.

Tumblr is a great free blogging platform and hosting. My friend used this app, and she was all crazy about Tumblr this Tumblr that, I used to be like what is Tumblr that you are crazy for, then I started using this app. Wooww!! I discovered and created the stuff that I love. If you love stuff, then just start having fun by using this website. You'll probably never be bored again. The site is big, simply labeled and friendly icons enable you to post several sorts of content. You could post a blog entry containing a text, or a link to something you saw on the Web, audio, video, photo, the app is none less, The colour schemes of the app look very stylish and modern, which is a refreshing change compared to the old version. I started using Tumblr few months back, and when I started using it, I stopped using any other application as it was so fun to use. It is a very creative. People use Tumblr to showcase photography, paintings, design, and different art. If you need to customize your blog, you will see some options on the top menu bar: Pages, Services, Community, Theme, Advanced, Info, Theme, Appearance, and Services. The most fun ones to play with if you're new are Themes and Appearance, where you can add and adjust free Tumblr themes. There are several types of posts, which includes, text, quote, link, chat, audio, and video. It's amazing, I am so in love with it, t makes me creative, expressive, and just I can find myself here. It's like home even though it is just an app with a bunch of photos. I recommend it to you.

    Pros :

    • Good for beginners.
    • Very creative.
    • It's free of cost.
    • Has a great user interface.
    • Posts with minimal text.
    • Good for visual blogs.

    Cons :

    • I prefer the list of followers in alphabetical order because it is easy to find the blogs.
    • The needs to be a way to see the date of the posting. With the new update, it's getting slower.
