AVG is another of the most popular free antivirus, definitely one of the easiest to use and has a great recognition engine virus, malware or spyware. The user interface is really simple though I personally do not think it is very attractive (I do not like the big square like Windows 8 style), but it is very intuitive and greatly facilitates the user experience.

McAfee Total Protection (ToPS) for Compliance reduces remediation time from months to days by providing unique, countermeasure-aware, impact/risk assessment capabilities. The tool correlates endpoint and network countermeasures with new vulnerabilities and provides a third dimension to the vulnerability impact assessment by adding the status of the current countermeasure to vulnerability severity and asset criticality.More about McAfee Total Protection

"Still, excellent features and low pricing aren't all that make up a security suite. Compared with some other 2012 packages we've looked at, Total Protection has some definite warts. Among them are a poorly organized, text-heavy interface that makes getting to settings a chore, as well as weak virus removal, and virus protection that isn't all it should be for zero-day malware."More about McAfee Total Protection

This suite offers antivirus and firewall protection, plus a browser safety toolbar. It's relatively light on resources, but the firewall is low-powered and the antivirus killed one test system. You can do better. Pros: -New, streamlined user interface. -Minor effect on performance. -Firewall correctly stealths all ports. -Firewall stealths all ports. Cons: -Malware cleanup left one test system unusable. -Phishing protection no better than Internet Explorer alone. -Firewall program control limited. -Firewall caved to direct attack.More about Ad-Aware Pro Security

AVG is a big name in AV, with its free software offering a basic level of protection. We chose to evaluate this over the paid-for software, because it’s the most popular version. Internet Security 2015 is the paid-for service, and includes additional features that could potentially improve its results, including Cloud-based file scanning, which analyses files before they're ever downloaded to your computer.More about AVG AntiVirus
