At first approach, Kaspersky manager interface is really very slim and compact and emphasizes its antivirus functions, however, remain quite hidden other features related to security tools, for ex. all the different monitoring tools and advanced management (additional tools menu). This is (for an average user, or rather a novice user) just fine but if you want to "play" a little more, and you'll have to do a double shift. It offers all the classic scan types then: complete, personalized (if you want to choose or exclude something), fast, external devices, and task manager. Like all Antivirus has available the quarantine tool that allows you to store all the infected files or deemed potentially dangerous. It's going to be up to us to decide what to do with these.

Pros :

  • I've Always preferred its malware threat control features, I consider it one of the best and one of the most updated it has the settings / Schedule option, in this you can schedule periodic scans, and this is so useful (set to off by default). Instead, it enabled the automatic update of new malware definitions.
  • I found the reports tab very interesting, this allows you to monitor various executions of the scans, useful if you are analyzing why has arisen some abnormality or to go back to the time when the virus was infected.

Cons :

  • The engine is not lightweight, just monitor how many resources used by the task manager (especially running) to realize this.
  • Difficult to interpret (for a novice user) is the functionality of the discovery of vulnerabilities, in practice, Kaspersky suggests autonomously what he said can be a problem in terms of safety.
  • It is also encouraging what have to fix and what does not (always according to him), this, in my opinion, can be confusing, but is rightly in the advanced tools panel.
  • It also provides different control functions of the various browsers, such as the blocking of pop-ups or privacy management or cookies, etc. I think that for an advanced user is pretty useless because it is not advisable to give this "task" to Kaspersky also to avoid further complicating the navigability.

Antivirus software in ways is almost like a bad word in the computer community because while it is necessary - nobody actually likes it. It costs money every year or so, and takes up precious system resources constantly scanning everything that passes through. Without it, though, your computer would be a train wreck in a short amount of time from essentially walking through a sewer naked, that is unless of course your computer is never on the internet and never has anything plugged into it that has been on the internet such as a thumb drive. Then you're probably ok, but that isn't too realistic.Enter Avast! Internet Security. It combines a pretty lightweight program, all things considered, that actually does a really good job at keeping your computer safe. The active scanners / shields on the system are updated constantly via Avast's cloud connection, usually receiving definition updates multiple times a day as new things are discovered. Its firewall does a fantastic job at blocking known malicious connections from ever reaching your computer by blocking them with a notification on the screen advising you of what action it took. Even emails in most typical clients are scanned beforehand for malicious attachments and quarantined immediately upon detection. You can even set it to handle SPAM email removal if your current provider's tools aren't quite up to snuff. It does, however, have a nasty habit of throwing up an advertisement for its other products every now and again even though you're in a paid version. Behavior like this is to be expected in their FREE licensed version, but is truly annoying considering you are already paying for the software. It is one thing to receive an email promotion now and again especially around renewal time, but to have physical pop-ups in the corner of the screen is not acceptable in my book.As a whole though I highly urge the product as the pop-ups aren't frequent and your system isn't bogged down to a crawl from just trying to protect itself.

Pros :

  • High performance and low impact design.
  • Very affordable pricing.
  • Constant updates.
  • Built in Antivirus, Firewall and Spam Blocker.

Cons :

  • Advertisements regardless of paid version.
  • SPAM blocker can be a bit aggressive at times.

On one hand, Kaspersky has proven itself to be a secure, competent antivirus program over the years. This year is no exception. But the glaring issues of heavy resource usage, poor technical support, and less-than-ideal usability are all dings against them. Overall, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 is good antivirus software, it just needs a better interface and better tech support.

Avast Internet Security falls right in the middle of our rankings this year. It's a solid Internet Security suite with great extra features. All and all, Avast Internet Security 2015 is a decent antivirus and antimalware program as long as you don't need tech support.
