Getting my iMac and Win8 PC to share data in a straight-forward way was proving extremely difficult. Sharing folders between the two using inbuilt functionality is a very unstable way of doing things, and very unreliable. I work most of the time with my Mac, and wanted to back my stuff up to the PC in order to use Acronis to back that up online. Having tried a variety of solutions (cheap FTP stuff was utterly unreliable and other trials didn't seem to work either) I had almost given up. I gave goodsync a try and it does genuinely work. I was hoping that I'd only have to buy one license to be able to sync stuff between the 2 machines, but this isn't the case. I did have to buy a license for Windows as well as a version for Mac. Ultimately it works flawlessly and very quickly too. I've only used it across my local network so not sure how it would work over the Internet (I think it has that functionality but not sure!) Definitely recommended for cross-platform backup / syncs.

In closing, IBackup is a bit of a mess. The core service works well, but the documentation, pricing, and security leave a lot to be desired. The general cold shoulder for Mac OS, security-wise, makes me think IBackup/IDrive isn't really serious about supporting it.More about IBackup
