  • I really like AVG AntiVirus Free 2015. It was easy to install and has all the features you'd expect from any antivirus program you'd pay for. It's completely free and can easily replace any antivirus program you have on your computer right now.

  • To sum it up, those looking for a fast, reliable and efficient antivirus solution may at least give AVG Antivirus Free a try. Its virus definitions can be kept up-to-date with AVG Anti-Virus Definitions. Those looking for enhanced malware protection can test and/or purchase AVG AntiVirus Professional or AVG Internet Security.

  • AVG Anti-Virus software is an average performer with well-considered features. It does not win in tests conducted at independent software testing labs. It maintains a database of known threats so that it can block them, and it uses cloud technology to quickly deploy defenses against zero-day threats almost as quickly as the hackers can hatch them. It understands how to protect you and warn you against internet attacks. And it protects you in social networking contexts. Support is excellent, and AVG goes the extra mile by providing live chat.

  • AVG is a big name in AV, with its free software offering a basic level of protection. We chose to evaluate this over the paid-for software, because it’s the most popular version. Internet Security 2015 is the paid-for service, and includes additional features that could potentially improve its results, including Cloud-based file scanning, which analyses files before they're ever downloaded to your computer.

  • AVG AntiVirus Free 2015 has a new look, and its Web TuneUp tool enhances browser security. It's a very good choice for free antivirus.

    Pros:

-Quick virus scan, quicker repeat scan.
    -Good ratings from independent labs.
-Site Safety tool warns of risky or dangerous websites.
-Blocks tracking of your Web surfing by advertisers.
    -Cleans up browsing traces.
    -Optimizes PC performance.

    Cons:

-Phishing protection less effective than Chrome or Firefox alone.
-Site Safety didn't flag malware downloads or phishing sites.

  • AVG AntiVirus Free 2015 has improved upon a well-designed security tool kit. While the busy layout takes some getting used to, the underlying antivirus engine continues to show improvement, outperforming previous years' results and many competitors, and AVG's Zen is a great boon if you're managing multiple devices.

  • AVG AntiVirus 2015 encrypts data and won't bog down PCs, but doesn't have the best malware protection.

    Pros:

    -Light performance impact.
    -Data Safe encryption feature.

    Cons:

    -Less-than-perfect malware detection.
    -Limited extra features.

Windows 8 users may prefer AVG Antivirus Free to other free options, since AVG's interface is designed to fit in with Windows 8's "modern," tile-based layout. AVG also provides above-average malware detection with minimal system impact. But we found AVG more irksome to use than its competition, because the program interface aggressively advertises paid features, sometimes implying those features are included in the free version until users click on their tiles.

You can't argue with AVG Antivirus Free's malware-detection rates, though — they're the second best in this review suite, and above industry average. And our performance tests showed that AVG did not significantly affect the computer's speed while it was doing a malware scan.

  • If you need antivirus software, but you are on a budget you may already have looked into free antivirus software. While the majority of free antivirus software on the market does not provide the same amount of coverage that paid versions cover, AVG Antivirus Free 2013 gives its customers more protection, more customer service, and more support for considerably less money.

  • AVG Anti-Virus is an effective antivirus solution that possesses both a robust feature set and an intuitive interface. The company maintains one of the best threat databases in the industry. We particularly like its zero-day infection system. AVG understands all the complex threats that your computer faces in today's rapidly changing online world, and it shows.
