Pivotal Tracker Use Cases and Deployment ScopeWhen I worked with it, it was being used across the whole organization. It addressed the problem of keeping track of projects involving agile development.
Pros : The UI is very good. You can have it across multiple platforms too.You can track side by side backlogs.See cross project collaboration and apply agile methodologies to your projects.
Cons : I thought at some point that if the project got too big, everything would have become clogged. You need to have a very strict convention on how to manage it with multiple people so that this doesn't happen.

When building out our web application (Methodologee), we needed a story-based project planning tool/agile software that allowed our team to collaborate and execute all the features instantly. We were referred to PT by our Senior Developer and loved using it.
Pros : Great agile software, easy story writing tool, API to the feedback and knowledge based tools we were using.
Cons : The mobile app was not that great but it might have improved by now.

I have mixed feelings about Pivotal Tracker. It really is quite easy to use and I believe that most software designers would find it helpful. I don’t, however, see that it has much real-world application for industries. In short, I do not recommend using it unless you are an agile software developer. I just don’t see the point. There are dozens of better, more standard applications out there for basic project management requirements. Pivotal Tracker is essentially a niche software, and it does not work well outside of that niche.
That said, in my opinion this program manages software development very well. Pivotal Labs has created an intelligent, unique application in Pivotal Tracker, imminently practical for certain purposes and certainly more well-suited for the software development industry than other management programs. The scheduling apparatus is flawed, and I wish that Tracker wasn’t hampered by such confusing and obscure terminology, but pointless vocabulary aside, the actual functionality of the software is pretty ingenious.
