While JIRA is the only bug tracking software I have used, I've come to really enjoy it think it works pretty well. This also depends on how your business uses it, of course. We use JIRA and a lot of other products that integrate with it, such as Hipchat and Confluence. As I run our beta programs and help solve tickets, I'm constantly communicating with our devs. They do a good job at creating sprints, this allows me to track those sprints and all the bugs, fixes and features that are going along with it. This makes things easy for me to stay on top of what's happening with our products without having to have tons of meetings or chat sessions. Overall I'm very pleased with this product and would like to continue to use it going forward with other companies.

JIRA Use Cases and Deployment ScopeAs a small software startup, we use JIRA to manage our development pipeline. We log development ideas in the platform, identify priorities, communicate regarding developments and clarification, and keep track of what's been implemented. We're currently maintaining one version of our software while developing a completely new version from scratch to be launched later this year. JIRA helps us keep track of the priorities and projects regarding both of these develpment tracks.More about Jira

What do you like best?Plugin system is good. Support is quick to answer emails.What do you dislike?Overly simplistic, buggy (not overly so but enough to be annoying), inability to save drafts, and I absolutely disagree with their philosophy of combining severity and priority.Recommendations to others considering the productIf you find it limiting, attempt to code plugins to work around the limitations so that it fits your needs. Would be a good opportunity to offer a developer a pet-project to flex his/her skills, or perhaps a capable intern.What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?At a previous company we used FogBugz to track bugs and partially to handle support requests. For how my team used it, we were able to work efficiently enough, though we were hindered by its overly simplistic nature and bugs at times.More about FogBugz
