  • Handy to check tasks while traveling

I use Asana to keep track of my tasks on the go. The mobile app has a home screen that lists all your tasks. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to scroll through all your tasks if there are many. This is alleviated by the search bar feature, so you can search for a specific task if you know what you're looking for. You can mark tasks as complete in the app, and it syncs with the app on other platforms as well, which is very handy.

Pros : Simple design, easy to see and read

Cons : Can be hard to see how all the tasks are organized. For example, when I am on my "home" screen, there is a giant list of tasks, but I am not sure - are they organized chronologically? In order of importance?

    Love it.

Simple, cheap and effective. Once you get use to it, you wont go back. Been using it 1 year now and has helped us be more productive. Try the free version for yourself, but it's not until your in a team that you really see how good it is. Issue: which I could assign to multiple people or create team.

Pros : Easy to use, robust.

Cons : Need a bit more assigning functionality and time keeper.

    Asana Project & Task Management

Our nonprofit organization has tried more project & task management solution then I can even remember. Asana, however, is a remarkable project/task platform that is both affordable and rich in features that don't get in the way. Asana is more than just a project management solution, it's platform that enables users to create project/task templates that can be customized, and a workflow to keep things going, such as sending out reminders to team members about upcoming or late tasks. There is also a fairly large resource network where templates can be downloaded and/or purchased. We have used Asana for recording the minutes of board members, editorial scheduling and idea management. It has provided our organization with a powerful solution that is easy to use, and affordable.

Pros : There's a lot to love about Asana, so it's hard to single out anything specific.

Cons : The GUI is easy to get a handle on, but it can be somewhat overwhelming for new users. I would also suggest making it clearer to users that they have a personal & business dashboard.

  • Asana - better team work

Asana Use Cases and Deployment ScopeI started using Asana for every project I run. Slowly more people in our organization started using it and we are currently less than 200 people working on the premium account. Different departments use it on a daily basis for managing their teams / projects. This is a great tool that is simple to use and customize. I would like to see better integration with TFS / JIRA and Salesforce so existing tools can talk with each other.

Pros : Simple to use, no need for admin to customize your projectsGet in fast and collaborate easilyInteract with your email system for those who still ike to use itEasily deploy across your ORG along with your customers

Cons : Free integrations with TFS / JIRA and SalesforceAdd features for the management team (Directors / VPs)Improve defects and SCRUM management capabilities

Asana - All In One and Everything You Need

Asana Use Cases and Deployment ScopeAt our company, we use Asana to manage all of our marketing and development projects and tasks. The platform is also used company wide to manage SOPs, interview process, on-boarding, bug-tracking, client relations, and AB test tracking, employee vacation tracking and more. It has helped us consolidate communication and reduce email overload by keeping relevant conversation and project artifacts in a single place with easy access and retrieval. It has streamlined our communication and collaboration on projects.

Pros : Full customizability - Asana does not force you to use their specific method of project management; instead, it allows you to customize the platform to meet your or your company's specific workflow.DRI - Asana does go by the concept of having one Directly Responsible Individual per task, which helps eliminate confusion.Extensibility - many other tools plug into Asana, allowing us to do things like consolidate a list of SOP's as Asana tasks with Google Docs links. We are also able to use plugins

Cons : Reporting - it would be great to have full reporting available for tags, tasks, and projects. Currently, reporting is partially implemented and somewhat improved through third party plugins, but it could be much better.Navigation - it's not always easy to navigate to places as it can sometimes be confusing when jumping between tasks.Better calendar integration with Outlook/Google calendars could be useful for shared calendaring. We have work from home and vacation days that we add to our calenda

Effective organizational and team collaboration software for our small organization.

Asana Use Cases and Deployment ScopeAsana is being used across the whole organization to manage multiple projects and tasks. We use it to collaborate teams across many different projects. Of particular help is Asana's email reminders of tasks to be completed; this keeps critical tasks uppermost in our minds. The new project dashboard provides a visual representative of how a project is progressing.

Pros : Asana supports the management of many detailed tasks and keeps those tasks uppermost in our minds by emailing reminders of which tasks are upcoming and which tasks are due.Asana simplifies team collaboration of complex projects. For example, within each task each team member can make comments, voice concerns, or ask questions. Then, each following that task receives an email update, and can respond. So within each task a running commentary and record is kept. Also, files can be added to each tas

Cons : Asana has many functions that I wouldn't know anything about without accessing the "Help" guide. For example: I had no idea that I could turn an email that I received into a task. However, the "Help" guide is clear and detailed.Asana is not totally intuitive in using and accessing all of its functions.

  • With a generous free version policy (up to 15 people in a workspace), Asana is worth a try to see if it can help streamline your collaboration and interaction with co-workers, friends, or even family members.

  • Asana, in my opinion, is an exemplary task management tool. Sleek, simple, and elegant, this software functions with ease and efficiency. I appreciate the fact that it is offered free for groups of up to 15 people and made financially accessible for students, non-profits, and start-ups. Every company has to start somewhere, and Asana is the ideal choice for small businesses struggling to get on their feet.

  • Asana’s modern design, adaptability and robust set of features elevate it to one of the best experiences you can have using an online application. For small teams of under 30 people this can be the perfect task manager and for larger teams, I can see it bordering on small to medium scaled project management. If you have a few hundred users and longer, more complicated, workflow needs, you might be better off using Basecamp, another excellent online application.

  • Asana is a great project and task management tool. Asana is much simpler than other task management tools, and its ability to manage complex projects simply makes it almost in a class with heftier project management tools like SmartSheet. If you don't need Gantt charts and other classic project management tools, Asana is a great choice.

  • Good for Scrum, Sometimes

    What do you like best?

Asana is really nice to track your progress, if you know how to properly turn big goals into projects of smaller goals and tasks. It's also fun when the unicorns come up because you've been doing a good job.. It's also awesome that it tells you if you have multiple of the same tasks but elsewhere in a project. And the assignment of tasks with followers is helpful.

    What do you dislike?

The only issue with Asana is that it doesn't load very well sometimes. And sometimes the task requires more than one person but the task in Asana allows only one assignee. It would also be nice if there were more specific recurring tasks, similar to daily but only every weekday instead of everyday.

I generally have Asana in my Chrome window always open, but when I close my laptop and re-open it, it takes hangs a bit while trying to reconnect to the server.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's really nice if you want a visual representation of how your entire company is working. (If you are working in a small company) It could work well for small teams so there's no miscommunication on who's working on what. But if you're willing to deal with the small bugs in Asana every now and then. It's definitely worth it.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

We use it every morning for scrum so that everyone knows what everyone else is doing. It also helps with it comes to planning meetings every Monday.

    Asana - The tasking tool

    What do you like best?

Really easy to enter in tasks and share them with a specific group. I use this tool to organize my day and week as well as collaborate on meeting agendas and project ideas.

    - It is very easy to learn with a lot of easily discoverable conveniences.

    - Great for a team that needs to be more tactical.

    - Allows you to setup up time based tasks AND subtasks.

    - Makes it easy to email tasks to your asana projects (very helpful with the zero inbox concept and way better tasking than outlook)

    - Have ipad and android versions.

    - Interesting (good so far) project permissions

    - I don't feel like the app over-emails me

    - All tasks that are assigned to you are listed out in one place

    What do you dislike?

    - They really need to step up their mobile game, it's better than not having it, but come on! I tried to have my iPad open and as I completed tasks, easily check them off...not so easy to do. They don't make good use of the extra space on the iPad, I feel like it is really a phone app that they didn't (but should have) redesigned for the iPad.

    - It doesn't do so well for a data repository, the point is to close out tasks, so for documents that need to live or have many different revisions we use email or slack.

    - They have really bad themes, especially the one where the birds fly around on your screen and over your data...so distracting and annoying. I feel like I'm being punk-ed. Please get rid of this and do some simple color themes and/or allow us to upload our own background.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Asana solves a very specific problem and it does it very very well. If you notice that individual or group tasks are falling through the cracks or realize that your project teams need a task based collaboration place, this product is for you!

They still need to improve their mobile app, but overall the product is very very good!

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

Asana really helps us keep everyone on the same page and individuals on task.

    - Great for fast pace projects to store next actions with the responsible party, decisions, and open questions. These projects usually have many changes in directions, open questions that you usually get lost and decisions are forgotten. It's easy to have asana keep track of things so nothing falls through the cracks.

    - I also use it to make sure I have a good list of my priorities and that I can deliver them on time.

Nightmare product that duplicates your present work load

    What do you like best?

Nice to see tasks............................................................ thats it.

    What do you dislike?

Messy and disorganized. Horrible integration with other software platforms. Non-intuitive buttons. No file system to organize documents other then within a project. How about all insurance documents together with a link from the projects to them instead of having to add them to each project seperately. I want to see all real estate purchase documents..... you have to go to each individual project; if there was a single project this is fine but with 30+ it is a pain in the ass.

Doesn't integrate with office products well. If all of your staff and your customers and vendors use different software platforms then using Asana requires double the work load.

Overall the product is a complete waste of time.

We call it Facebook for work.... a convoluted mess.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have nothing, give this a shot. This is like adding one Apple computer to an office of nothing but PC's; everything has to be done different and requires extra work and effort with a minimal gain as the result.

    Dont waste your time.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

I have received no benefits from the product. We have one rah rah Asana employee that believes that the whole world should revolve around this platform....it doesn't and never will.

If you enjoy doing things twice, or three times, add this into your company. If you want Asana to work for you then you must use only this platform and get all of your clients and vendors and employees to join you.....otherwise...dont bother.

They are trying to reinvent the wheel and for companies that dont already have a wheel this may work, although I still believe it is a messy disorganized product. For companies that already have a wheel... this is a nightmare product with nothing but head aches.

  • Asana is ideal for teams of 30 people or fewer. The application lets the user create milestones with tasks that are assigned to individual team members. Users can stay on top of each team member’s work load and easily provide updates and information through the application. Users who are unhappy with their current organization app might consider Asana, although others may not find anything new to entice them to switch.

  • I just can’t recommend Asana. If you’re comfortable using a free, dull tool that happens to have some keyboard shortcuts or you can’t afford a different tool for your business, I can see you being content with what Asana offers.
