  • Pardot Use Cases and Deployment ScopePardot is used as a communication tool companywide however mostly marketing/sales uses the systems for marketing automation, drips, prospect tracking, etc. It addresses the roadblock our sales team faced when our prospects' buying patterns and behaviors changed. Pardot allows us to get the right information in front of the right people, at the right time.

Pros : Training. We used a Pardot partner for implementation who nailed it; but we like our access to Pardot Advocates and we also became certified end users. Good knowledge base.Drips. They are easy to set up.Integration. So many marketing tools can connect to Pardot to achieve the maximum impact.

Cons : I am not in Pardot, personally, enough to know the problem areas.

  • A simple to use but powerful marketing automation tool. Easy to follow drip campaign functionality. Automation rules have a lot of power (although one annoying issue as listed below).

Pros : The Pardot for outlook and lead deck apps are fantastic and really powerful.

Cons : Reporting is fairly basic and hard to get much depth The sync with Salesforce could definitely be faster. The lead database is generally fine but hard to do the occasional manual updates you might want to do, i.e. quickly select a few leads and add them to a campaign without having to create a whole automation rule. Automation rules can't be rerun - they have to be cloned and recreated which is fairly stupid.

  • What do you like best?

Pardot is great in that it has many connections to external services that give you better insights into your contact's digital body language. From the Wistia connector (which allows you to see which videos & how long your contacts are viewing) to the Google Analytics connector (which allows you to see interactions with your web properties) it's awesome to be able to segment based on very granular interactions. This gives our sales & marketing teams incredible insights on our prospects and customers.

    What do you dislike?

I mentioned the connectors earlier. One thing I would love to see is the ability to segment users based on their interactions with Wistia videos.

Pardot is great marketing automation software for marketers, especially if you've never used marketing automation before. It can be a little bit clunky at times, and it does require some knowledge/thought about how you're going to perform certain actions, but there's usually a way round it, and there are many people in the community willing to offer help and advice!

    Pros :

    • Pardot has a great new interface, particularly in the Engagement Studio, which visually maps out the journey leads take through a nurture campaign. It's nice to look at and provides a very simple, easy-to-understand summary of your campaigns, how they're running, click through rates, and how many leads you have at each stage.
    • The sync with Salesforce is also very useful as it means that you have more customization options available. It also means you can easily sync with campaigns and all sales data, allowing you to report on all numerical data in one place. As Pardot is owned by Salesforce, there is a lot of support around this sync, and there are so many people you can talk to for best practices on using the two together.
    • In general the community around Pardot is really useful too - there are success and user groups where users share ideas and ask each other questions (both online and offline) and every day Pardot host an office hour when users can call in and ask any question around Pardot they want - whether it's technical or strategic. This is a great way to get help when stuck or just get general ideas and learn best practices.

    Cons :

    • There's some lack of flexibility in Pardot - you have to go to different places to perform different actions, and sometimes you can't run specific rules. For example, you can't create a dynamic list of prospects created between x and y dates. However, there's usually a way around it, and you can always go back to Salesforce if not and make the change there.
    • Reporting and the WYSIWYG email builder are not great within Pardot either. I'd recommend running more detailed reports in Salesforce if you're using the two together, and building your own email template from scratch if you have the capability.

The navigation is very confusing. It makes it hard to find drafts vs. emails and what have you. A lot of the headings read the same way, so one is not sure what folder to search in or where to start. Once you get into an email template, then it's not terrible to use, but it's not the easiest program either.

    Pros :

    • I don't love Pardot. I think they make it more complicated than it needs to be and could be simplified. There could be less sections to save in by joining similarly named header tabs. This would eliminate much of the confusion in where to start and where to keep drafts and where sent emails are saved.
    • One thing that I'm loving is that we are able to connect to our database in NetSuite. That is a huge help – we use the connector, and it flows automatically.
    • I would much prefer to use Pardot for everything and get rid of NetSuite, as Pardot is actually a lot easier to use than NetSuite. I still don’t think Pardot is that good because it does not take much to be better than NetSuite. If you are looking to move up and away from NetSuite, then this would be a perfect step in the right direction.
    • You don’t have to take on all of the components of Pardot but can use the basics of the program.

    Cons :

    • This program could really use an overhaul.
    • The WYSIWYG should be easier to use, and the navigation should be more clearly structured. It does not automatically update the HTML, so when you review the email, it does not look how the WYSIWYG editor looks.
    • I constantly have trouble finding where things are being saved. We use this program through many different people, and there are many different similar places that emails and documents can be saved. It really could be better streamlined with focused titles.

I've had the pleasure of integrating Pardot as marketing automation in our company. The system is superb for B2B marketing automation and integrates fully with Salesforce. The integration process has been very smooth due the high level of support we received from Pardot support team. he system has so many advantages and can take your marketing efforts to the next level. If you know how to use Pardot and get it fully implemented across your marketing team and the wider teams of the business, you can rest assured you're at the top of digital marketing and have a great platform established for all inbound marketing activities.

Pardot integrates very well with the website. We use Wordpress, and it has been very simple to integrate the forms and make sure all data gets captured in Pardot. Pardot is also great for creating landing pages, again in order to capture data. I'm also using Pardot for posting social posts across a large number of channels - everything can be measured and tracked, all the way through to the sales funnel in Salesforce. This is a Salesforce product, and as it is with most Salesforce products, you get extremely good user experience, and they value their customers more than anything. I've never felt better supported than with this marketing automation tool.

    Pros :

    • Extremely easy to use and navigate around.
    • There are hundreds of website to help you if you get stuck, and the system is really fast compared to other marketing automation systems. It's very easy to build your own templates in Pardot.

    Cons :

    • The basic email template builder is not as creative as other systems I've used.
    • Unfortunately, I'm not able to create nice looking HTML emails myself, and would need to ask my design team and developers to help. But for time being, I haven't had the need as Pardot template builders have provided what I needed from it.

Pardot is a great service, but definitely has its drawbacks. Pardot offers a wide array of marketing based services ranging from analytics, email automation, dynamic content, to landing page creation, form styling, and SEO tracking.

Pardot takes some technical expertise and requires a fairly long onboarding process, but support is very attentive and will hold your hand through the process. The product is self can be a bit pricey, and the amount of help you can get and features you use is based on your level. Pardot should be able to handle any size businesses needs and can create complex mechanisms allowing for in-depth marketing communication, tracking, and lead generation.
    Pros:

    Pros :

There are many positive features to Pardot, and the service offers many useful tools for your business:

    • Pardot crowning feature is its integration with Salesforce that is way more in depth as they are owned by Salesforce.
    • Create drip campaigns that are easy to use and intuitive. Drip campaigns send out emails and run prospects down a pipeline that you design and are able to gear it to your purposes.
    • Tracking code allows you to see what prospects do on your site and where they go.
    • Pardot allows you to compare your organizations' SEO to competitors.
    • The editors for forms and emails are in depth and allows a lot of flexibility with templates or using your own code.

    Cons :

Pardot has many areas that do need improvement, while normally this would not be a big deal, Pardot is owned by one of the most robust CRM systems to date, Salesforce.

    • Pardot has issues with their editors at times, that are difficult to use.
    • Their landing page editor is extremely difficult to use, and while it is intuitive, it needs a lot of help. HTML access would be a nice start.
    • Form styling requires an immense amount of technical ability, as if you don't know how to code, you will have the most basic form.
    • Their sales people are young and relentless and at times mind-bogglingly uncoordinated.
    • The fact that an organization that is owned by a sales driven CRM has had confusion with selling an account that is already sold is beyond me.
    • They are quite expensive and therefore not a good fit for small organizations.

I've been using Pardot for a little over 2 years, and I've been impressed by how intuitive it is but also frustrated by the lack of no-brainer features and latency issues. Pardot is one of those tools that is as powerful as you make of it. You can automate your entire marketing process from emails to landing pages to lead tracking to lead scoring or just use to it send out mass emails every few days.

    Pros :

    • Before I dove into Pardot and started using it to manage our lead pipeline, I had no previous experience; I didn't watch any tutorials, webinars, or have anyone walk me through it.
    • But within a week, I had figured out the most essential features. This is why I think it's very intuitive.
    • It can also be extremely powerful if you're willing to explore all that it's automation rules, drip programs, and lead tracking functionality has to offer.
    • And since it's a Salesforce solution, it integrates fairly well with the most popular CRM that's out there.
    • I've always had a positive experience with Pardot support team. They are fairly quick to respond to cases and are always courteous.

    Cons :

    • While the automation, lead tracking, and drip programs are great, the email and landing page creation is not intuitive and not very user-friendly.
    • You have to have in-depth knowledge of CSS and HTML to create an email and landing page templates since their "WYSIWYG" editors are lacking in customization and lead to errors often.
    • There are also certain features missing that, to me, seem obvious.
    • There is a massive list of features that users request and vote on, but it never seems like they're implementing these features. Recently (in the past 3-4 months), Pardot has been experiencing latency issues regularly (once a week).
    • This can become quite a major issue when you have a time-sensitive email that you're trying to send, and you can't even send yourself a test email because of the latency.

Marketing Automation did really well, that's what I'd say about Pardot. From Day 1, everything made sense. It's a very quick ramp to doing some intense Marketing Automation and Salesforce Integration. It's easy to measure Success. Also, it's flawless to integrate into Salesforce.

    Pros :

    • So I've been using Pardot for 3 years now. I had 0 Experience with Marketing Automation before opening Pardot.
    • I used outside sources to take care of these things and other programs. Very Expensive consultants, with very little transparency. Pardot changed all of that.
    • The simple user interface opened up the world of B2B Marketing Automation and Salesforce Integration.
    • We quickly were able to implement forms and tracking throughout our entire website and began to build an army of prospects.
    • Again having 0 experience with this type of work I was able to complete all tasks asked of me.
    • This program made me think of marketing differently.
    • Our Marketing team became an engine of Sales

      Cons :

      • Overall I had very little problems with the Pardot ecosystem.
      • My earlier complaints were the lack of certain abilities in the Salesforce Integration process.
      • Things didn't always appear correct in the Salesforce application vs. the Pardot. But having used them for about 3 years now, they have not started to slow down in improving this process.
      • They are quick to respond to requests and always updating the system. So not much of a con.
      • The last thing I would add is, there could be improved integration into Wordpress sites.
      • The current system works, but it doesn't offer the ability to do a whole lot outside of HTML coding.
      • It requires the use of iFrames for things like forms and landing pages
      • I'd like to see this fully integrated and not need the framing to work correctly.

I would like to be able to avoid an overly positive review on this product to avoid scrutiny, but I have only the best things to say about its period. The customer service team is impeccable; the user-interface is flawless, fluid, easy and enjoyable to use; the functionality is jaw-dropping, and the ease at which you can use the software even if you're inexperienced is incredible.

    Pros :

    • Pardot syncs with Salesforce impeccably, and it seems as if this was a match made in heaven.
    • This allows us to create reports and monitors analytic with ease and complete clarity, and our lead transfer and conversion process goes very smoothly.
    • I know if we schedule an email blast or marketing effort with Pardot, that the job will get done, and the results will be clear and leads waiting in the queue for our team to qualify and pursue in the morning.
    • It is also easy to set up a mini campaign or “drip” campaign for email marketing at the drop of a dime and get the results of interaction with a target audience.
    • My organization will often times create the appearance of an email blast effort for 100 or less contacts, and allow us to focus on key targeted individuals behavior to understand how they are interacting with our company’s content and analytics on conversion from that particular effort.
    • It is possible to embed a cookie within a simple email like detailed below, and you can track the interaction of that prospect ongoing with your website (yours only, not anything they do, obviously).

    Cons :

    • The ONLY complaint I have about Pardot is more of a convenience one; in that it can take a long time (sometimes 24 hours ) to upload a lead / contact list of recipients into Pardot to engage them in a campaign.
    • This isn't usually an issue because we schedule our releases well in advance, but if anything ever comes up where we need to issue something NOW, we can be left without a paddle in that respect, and forced to release it ourselves in the old fashion way.

I didn't really like Pardot the first time I implemented it; I thought it fell short compared to Marketo and Eloqua. But that was some time ago. And Pardot is a different tool now. And here's why - they've listened to their customers, made the right improvements, and backed it up with arguably the best support among marketing automation solutions. Which has turned it into one of my top 3 MA tools. If you're looking at Marketo, Eloqua, or Act-On, you should add Pardot to your short list. You'll be running campaigns quickly with Pardot - even if it's your first marketing automation solution. And if you're a Salesforce user, you'll benefit in the long term based on what I've seen of their roadmap.

    Pros :

You'll be up and running quickly with Pardot - their workflow is easy to understand, so even if your team is new to marketing automation it will make sense. When I implemented Pardot, it was for a team of event coordinators and marcomms people who didn't know how to spell HTML let alone run a campaign. But even though they had a less than modern marketing skill set, they were executing their own campaigns in no time. That's thanks to the editor in Pardot, which is very simple to use. For the more advanced user, the integrations with Google Analytics and Adwords are simple and powerful. I've also found that I can create practically any layout for landing pages and forms.

    Cons :

If I had to compare Pardot to Eloqua or Marketo, I'd say Pardot has some catching up to do when it comes to campaign flows. The conditional logic isn't as robust as more mature solutions, but they are constantly improving it, and depending on how complex your nurture and drip campaigns are, it may be just the right fit for you now.
