If you're new to email campaigns and list building then you should give MailChimp a try. Mail chimp has a free level, and even the paid services are very affordable. Build and manage your lists with MailChimp. This is great if you're running a few campaigns beyond just having people sign up for a newsletter. This is super simple and works great for beginners and more advanced users. If you know what you're doing, or not at all, MailChimp is a great CRM. It's easy to track and segment your lists with MailChimp. They have great support and it's only $10/month for base plan. Create beautiful emails and run trackable campaigns with mail chimp. Mail chimp is definitely a good substitute for those that cannot afford Aweber or ExactTarget, etc. I have used it in before, and would recommend this tool for most people today. I can't stress enough how easy they make it to manage your lists. Side note- if you're new to list building and leveraging emails in business, please do some research first. That way you will understand and know exactly what and why you are doing what you're doing.
As an email marketing software, iContact is very affordable and user-friendly. It is easy to learn by anyone with a basic knowledge of this type of program. You can import your current lists easily and add people you’ve met online without them needing to opt in at your website. This is very good for speakers who gather most contacts at their appearances.
MailChimp mobile app seemed like a great idea when I downloaded it. Unfortunately, it seems to be the very basics of the service - on a mobile device.I still keep it on my phone in case I need to check to make sure a campaign sent. But that's just about the only thing I feel comfortable using it for. I wish I could create a campaign from scratch. Albeit, I'm not sure how the user experience would look on my end - lots of intricacies involved in terms of moving and placing texts and pictures. Still, for this app to be accessible and beneficial to me, I'll need a lot more features built in that allow me to create and revise campaigns.Even better - it would be neat to be able to take a photo and have an option to sync that photo into an email campaign, from the photo app itself. Perhaps MailChimp should look horizontally into the photo market, and create less intricate templates that allow a user to take a photo and then immediately merge that photo into a template that is easy to edit, test launch, and revise? For me, the greatest value of mail chimp is actually the integrations it provides with other services like EventBrite, Google Docs, etc. that allow me to leverage multiple technology platforms to capture user data and then manage it inside of MailChimp. I often use it as a "list bed" for storing data that I may even use to launch a "normal" email campaign from my Gmail. So, the app becomes virtually meaningless to me unless it has a mobile-friendly approach to integrations of daily life functions - like taking photos, recording audio, giving presentations and sending them quickly to friends or others to see.Perhaps the app could be pivoted towards a "social" focus while the browser version is the natural choice for "professional" campaigns? Just spitballing, here.

What do you like best?I came into a new marketing position at an events-based company. There were leftover templates pre-created in iContact by the previous marketing associate. I liked the fact that I could just reuse these templates, or use them as a working grounds for customizing succinct messaging with relevant information, which I assumed would be more efficient for campaigns. I was terribly wrong. What do you dislike? The editing features on iContact are outdated. The image upload has a 200k limit. The image upload was glitchy when loading. The text formatting was glitchy (issues with bolding text). The draft save didn't always work. Sometimes it saved. Sometimes it loaded previous versions. This caused severe issues when sending emails. I've caused customer support several times about these glitches. A customer representative from iContact actually told me that because of recipients recognizing the server information of iContact, over several years time, it may be likely that the unopened emails would eventually move the iContact server (our company) into the junk mail folder, reducing the open rate of our subscribers. When asked if they had created a solution to correct for this issue, they had none. Today, a previous draft email made its way to our recipients, instead of a current email. My hope was that the email could be retracted. I called customer support to explain the issue, and he...Recommendations to others considering the productDo not buy their product. What business problems are you solving?
