  • Constant Contact is easy to use, looks professional, and demystifies email marketing. It was a bit glitchy in testing, however, and is occasionally stingy for the price.

  • For small businesses and startups, Constant Contact is a great option. It is a cost effective tool with a very flexible pricing setup where the rates are based on the number of email contacts. But what makes it really special is that they strive to provide the extra effort to help their users become more proficient with the system by conducting live webinars, classes, and day-long courses. Plus, the team is constantly working to make Constant Contact very intuitive.

  • Pros:

    • Free Trial Period
    • Great Template Library
    • Good for Beginners
    • Import / Export Lists
    • Security
    • Anti-Spam Policies

    Cons:

    • Overpriced
    • Difficult to Cancel Services
    • Customer Service Complaints
    • Limited Customization
    • Autoresponders; does not allow auto-responders.
    • List Management Limitations

I used Constant Contact as I was starting out for email drip campaigns, events, and newsletters. I found it to be really easy to use for non-tech people and good to launch a start-up business with. They have a very friendly customer support staff that don't use the very technical terms that confuse non-tech people.

I also liked the templates that they offer, and there are quite a lot of integration options on my website and other platforms for online use. If you are managing your own small business and need to save money on simple but effective email marketing, I would recommend them.

It does not take a lot of time to get started or to connect with your website and usually they give you a trial period which is good for getting your feet wet without having to feel like you need to get a lot of contacts into the system while the clock runs, every new system takes time to get used to and the trial period they offer gives you that time to learn, see some traction and gain insight into how you better use their platform for your success.

    Pros :

    • Easy to learn interface and dashboard.
    • Very inexpensive for what it provides.
    • Great as a starting point for businesses who have no contact and customer database or who are starting out with email marketing.
    • Another thing I liked is that the templates they offer are much more nicer looking than some of even the more robust online programs available and can be used for almost anything related to business or even non-business such as events, email newsletters, email drip campaigns or whatever you are needing.

    Cons :

    • I ultimately was looking for more of an all in one system to use for my online business that is not included with Constant Contact. It works well for a growing business and if you want to include a Zapier or other API into other systems it works, but having many platforms for an online based business can get overwhelming once you are handling so much traffic and follow up with leads and customers.

As recently moving into a marketing position (from sales), Constant Contact has been a breath of fresh air, especially compared to some of the other eMarketing systems in the space. Not only does Constant Contact allow my team to quickly set up newsletters, whitepapers, offers and more, but it also tracks everything very well. When looking at eMarketing, understanding WHO you are reaching out to is sometimes more important than HOW you are reaching out to them. What I mean by this, is that it's always important to understand your audience. Constant Contact gives my team the ability to track and deliver the right messages and news to the appropriate audience based on what THEY want from us. Being able to give our clients, prospects and general population the ability to chose when, how and how often they receive our information, makes life much easier for our team in-house.

    Pros :

    • Cheap: while there are SOME eMarketing solutions in the market that are free, they don't offer the robust options that Constant Contact offers.
    • Look and feel: Constant Contact gives my team the ability to set up news letters and content that match out company. This allows us to separate ourselves from the rest of the 100's of emails everyone gets on a daily basis and really portray what we have to offer.
    • Contact Management: With Constant Contact, we have the ability to manage who we are reaching out to, understand what they are looking to receive from our company, and provide them the appropriate information.
    • Feedback: Constant Contact offers a simple, yet useable survey to collect feedback from your audience

    Cons :

    • Feedback: I know I mentioned this as a "pro", but that was more that they just offer a survey. If you are looking to collect feedback that your organization can use, and your audience will take, Constant Contact is not the tool for you.
    • The surveys in Constant Contact are not visually appealing, and the reporting is basically useless.

Constant Contact has a lot to offer entrepreneurs and small businesses. It’s easy to learn and navigate at a price that is accessible to most people. Besides the email capabilities, it offers easy to set up event pages.

    Pros :

    • Good price point.
    • Easy to learn.
    • User friendly.
    • Ability to easily create events.
    • Easy to import your contact list.

    Cons :

    • Until recently, your autoresponder would take 24 hours to deliver the first email.
    • This is problematic for people expecting immediate downloads.
    • They have fixed this but it took them months to do it.

After using a couple of email marketing systems, we signed up with Constant Contact and love it! Generating emails that any email platform can resolve easily without broken code and graphics that display easily on machines and mobile devices is perfect. I've used constant contact on large 30K plus campaigns bi-weekly for several years, and the returns are fantastic. Customers will print those coupons and bring them into the store to redeem. They work! Generating reports is fast and easy, and I like that we can have reports automatically sent to us so that to keep us updated on our progress and see what is working and what needs improvement. Your support at Constant Contact is also top notch. They are willing to help you with anything you have questions with at the drop of a hat, and that is unheard of these days. Usually, companies will schedule a call with the only technician they have on staff but everyone at Constant Contact is very helpful at all levels. The ability to send out customer surveys fast and easy is a HUGE plus! Those surveys can also feature logic based questions which react to a customer's response by changing the direction of questions or asking for further detail. Ex: "Are you happy with your purchase?" if the customer answers " Yes" then it can move to the next question. If the customer answers "no" it can open a dialog box that asks for an explanation as to what occurred so we can improve our service and address any issues that may be trending with a particular product, store, or employee. The social media aspect of Constant Contact is also a fantastic feature for companies who sell products or services to users of social media. You can post the same survey to your social media accounts like Facebook, with ease!

    Pros :

    • Easy to use interface.
    • Great feature set including surveys, email blasts, marketing groups, reports, and more.
    • Social Media integration is simple and easy to use.
    • Logic based survey questions are excellent.

    Cons :

    None!

Constant Contact is your basic email sender. It's not an amazing platform and is more "microsoft" than creative.

Pros : It get's the emails where they need to go and gets them there fast.

Cons : The emails don't look near as good as Mailchimp created emails.
