  • What do you like best?

    As someone who creates hundreds of campaigns each year, I like a system that doesn't limit me and provides a smooth workflow across all key elements (email, landing pages, campaign logic, filtering, and reporting). Eloqua saves me time, makes me more productive, and has the flexibility to get the results you want with the least amount of effort.

    What do you dislike?

    I don't have any major complaints at this time.

  • It’s a good value, despite the relatively high cost. If you can handle the learning curve, it’s a good investment. Eloqua has top-notch features and support, and customers tend to think that despite the price, it’s a good value. Once you master the learning curve, the possibilities are limited by your personnel—not the product.

    I mostly used Eloqua's email marketing (also known as "mass emailing") capabilities. I've also used other marketing automation solutions like Pardot, Net Results, and Marketo, but when it comes to the email features, Eloqua is the best that's out there. Other pieces of the marketing automation solution, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired.

    Pros :

    Eloqua is a marketing automation solution. This means that it's main purpose is to automate the lead generation and lead qualification process. With this comes multiple pieces: landing pages, forms, emails, drip programs, content, etc. Eloqua does all of these well but its email marketing piece is its strength:

    • While you would want your email marketer to have HTML experience, with Eloqua it's not a must. Eloqua's WSYIWIG make sit so easy to build emails that you hardly need to go into the HTML to edit the emails.
    • Creating drip programs with Eloqua is one of the most satisfying experiences you will have with email marketing. The interface is just fun to work with.

    Cons :

    • Because Eloqua has so many capabilities, it can be overwhelming. The overall user interface (besides the email marketing piece) is not very intuitive. The naming conventions for the menus are confusing, and you can waste hours of time just looking for a file.
    • It can be incredibly slow at times. When there's an urgent email that needs to go out in 2 hours but your files are taking forever to upload, it can be quite frustrating. Sometimes it took days to receive exports of lists. This happens with every marketing automation solution, but Eloqua experiences delays and literal lags more often than any others I've personally used.
    • It's expensive. We had to stop using Eloqua because it was so expensive. From what I remember, it doesn't give you much customization; you can't pick and choose features to cut down on the cost.

    Eloqua is definitely a powerful tool when it comes to email marketing with all the functionality and metrics you can use. It also works well with other tools like Salesforce and SnapApp. The tool is very difficult to use and requires a lot of manual work to set up email templates as well as landing page templates.

    Pros :

    • The reporting metrics in Eloqua are very advanced compared to Hubspot.
    • It is easy to report on real revenue using this tool.
    • In addition, the amount of apps that integrate with the tool is amazing.
    • There is a wide selection of free apps you can use like ReadyTalk, Contact Washing Machine, Campaign Manager, etc.
    • It integrates with other tools like Demandbase, SnapApp, Cisco WebEx, Brightcove, etc.

    Cons :

    • Even with the newest upgrade building forms in Eloqua is a long and difficult process.
    • It requires some coding knowledge to build forms and landing pages in the tool.
    • Compared to a Hubspot it takes triple the time to build a form or a landing time.
    • You save so much time, headaches and stress using a tool like Hubspot. In addition, Hubspot has much better support then Eloqua does.
    • The support feature is built right in the Hubspot tool, so you don’t have to call or email anyone if you don’t want. You can just open a support ticket up right in the tool, and you will then receive a response via the tool.
    • Eloqua also requires a ton of mapping steps that are very time-consuming. For instance, when you build a campaign you need to associate the form with it as well as the landing page, this process takes much longer than compared to Hubspot.
    • Setting up the integration between Salesforce and Eloqua is which more time-consuming than Hubspot.
    • You have to manually map every form field in Eloqua with Salesforce where Hubspot automatically maps most of the fields for you.
