Commission Junction probably would be one of the largest affiliate marketing company available over the internet. I have heard both positives and negatives about it. Have used it a lot but with not much luck. What i have observed is it works best if you have good pitching and selling skills. Commission junction works on a model where one needs to sell a product and earn commission on the sale. Selling to unknown people in the internet world needs a special skill set. But those who has this skills are rewarded handsomely by commission junction. There have been many affiliate marketing channels over the internet since the revolution of affiliate marketing had begun, many channels had to close shop, but CJ has battled it out and today has very few competitors.

    Pros :

    • CJ is worded most renowned name, so the products and services which are shared through this medium is believed to be reliable and well known.
    • Advertising the products and services, there are various links available in form of banner, text links, search boxes, etc.
    • CJ forms the intermediate between the advertiser and publisher.
    • CJ earns money from Merchant for product sale, and it passes on the percentage of product sale commission to the publisher.
    • There is a certain payment threshold, but they ensure that if over any month the cumulative commission is over the payment threshold, then they make payment to its affiliates.

    Cons :

    • Payment threshold for publisher is on higher side i.e. 50$ for direct bank deposit, and it is 100$ if you are requesting for paper check.
    • It's a pain to get to this level initially, as you need to have strong selling skills to get anywhere near this threshold. But have seen people earning in thousands of dollars every month, they are the seasoned players in affiliate business.
    • Some of the offers listed in commission junction by the merchants, needs approval from the merchants for the publishers to start promoting. This is sometimes tedious, as you will have to wait until the merchant approves. rs.

Commission Junction, now known as CJ Affiliate, has been a trusted source for affiliate offers for many years. Many large name brands use them. I recall eBay being one I've used, in which you could get paid for referring new eBay members: once they sign up and bid on an auction (or something like that), you get paid. There are many affiliate tools to help you get conversions: such as many shapes and sizes of banner ads, and text ads. All pre-done for you and pre-approved, so all you have to do is promote via the approved channels. The publishers will have restrictions around what can be done and where, such as with PPC, branded keywords are usually banned. They want you to bring in fresh new customers who haven't heard of the brand before, a referral from your own marketing efforts. Say someone looking to buy something, but hadn't considered eBay, well you could have an ad that says get it cheaper on eBay and link them to it through your affiliate link. After you've signed up, the next step you take is searching their marketplace to find publishers you want to collaborate with, check out their  offers and marketing collateral, and if you like what you see, you can apply. Approvals can be automatic or manual; most are set to automatic for instant approval to not lose affiliates. They can always revoke your approval later, which they'll only do if you've broken the rules or misrepresented the company, say by email spam. All in all, CJ is a great way to partner up with big name brands and leverage their credibility, while you make money by helping drive sales through them. They also have a Pay Per Call offer, which you can drive phone calls to call centers too.

    Pros :

    • Vast marketplace of publishers.
    • Free to join and apply, never any costs as an affiliate.
    • Often auto-approval for new affiliates.
    • Good commissions, not as much as Clickbank, but you get well-known brands.

    Cons :

    • Can't find everything you want through CJ, and you're limited to the publishers conditions and marketing collateral.
