Shortstack is a great product. I've been using it for at least the last three years consistently for all of my clients' Facebook promotions. I'll admit, we don't use it as much as we did when like-gating was available, but there are other reasons to use it. However, it's not going to be an easy one to learn to use if you're not digital savvy already.
Pros : - Works with Facebook and Instagram. You can run contests on Facebook to gather email addresses as entry, or photos, or other data. - Easy to ask for permission to add email address to your existing databases, in compliance with privacy laws (in Canada at least). - Very customizeable with templates and the ability to change out all colours & pictures to fit your brand. - Ability to copy a previously used promotion and simply update for next one, which is a great time saver. - Ability to have Instagram entries auto-populated based on brand hashtag. - Ability to import names for a Like & Comment contest on Facebook. - Built in random draw generator. - Ability to assign referral points for recruiting friends to promotion. - Ability to gate based on required information, such as an email, i.e. you can't have the ebook/coupon until you put in an email. - Ability to change CSS codes if you know how. - Customer service is pretty good online. - Ability to embed a promotion on your website. - Ability to limit who can see the entry form (on Facebook at least, by country).
Cons : - Like & Comment import only imports from one post, so if you've collected comments on multiple posts, over a week, you have to import several times and consolidate into one database, at which point you can't use their random draw function, but have to resort to random.org. - I personally found it very overwhelming to learn to use. Almost every campaign I learn something new to do, so I've learned to use it bit by bit over three years to get pretty decent looking promotions, in conjunction with a graphic designer. - There have been glitches...my last promotion just disappeared one week before completion, after three weeks of no issues. They were able to help me get it back without any lost data, just a day or so of entries.

Antavo is an excellent tool, affordable, easy to use for most people without technical knowledge, and developed with the goal of managing typical user behaviours on Social Media. It also offers a free trial that, although has a duration of just 7 days, it should be time enough to play around and understand all the potential this tool has to offer.More about Antavo

While not perfect, ShortStack is one of the best Facebook app creators out there. And while they have a few omissions, like the lack of an Etsy shop template, they make up for it in their support, number of features, and ease of use.More about ShortStack

Antavo - What should I say? I'am horribly disappointed. I'am on the expert plan trial (2nd day). Have set up a photo contest. My problems with Antavo are as follows: 1) The Antavo dashboard doest load at all on phones. So, you cannot manage your campaign on the move. Better carry your desktop or laptop with you wherever you go. 2) In the "photo contest" app, the "upload file" link does not trigger anything on Android devices. It's a dead link. Nothing happens! I ran the photo contest for 2 days just to see there were no participants. It works on the microsite though. Also works on laptop and iOS. 3) On the website they mentioned about "email+phone support" for the "Expert" plan. But I do not find any contact number anywhere. 4) So, the phone support is available only when the trial is over and once you pay?? What's the point of free trial at the first place? HORRIBLE!!More about Antavo

GroSocial Use Cases and Deployment ScopeGroSocial was being used to manage our clients' social media accounts, primarily Facebook. We used it to build posts, create and change timeline covers, build promotions and contests, and integrate those with our clients' Infusionsoft application. The contests/promotions integrate into Infusionsoft Campaign Builder, to provide a cohesive lead generation mechanism across all platforms. We also used it to build Twitter backgrounds that matched the Facebook look and feel for the client. We built individual tabs as well for our clients for things such as newsletter sign ups, or other promotions, that integrated directly with Infusionsoft.More about GroSocial
