There are several FTP clients available online and a lot of these are excellent products even if though they are for free, the most used are probably FileZilla, WinSCP, FireFTP and of course Core FTP is positioned on the podium.

    Pros :

    • To start using the client, you can download the executable directly from the official website.
    • The latest version is 2.2 and it has been recently updated.
    • The client does not differ much with respect to other clients FTP mentioned above, both in terms of interface layout in both terminal functionality.
    • The features provided by the client are the different types of communication such as FTP or SFTP, FTPS, SSL, TLS, to resume the possibility of an FTP in transferring, possibility to directly import files using drag and drop, ability to open a specific file directly from the client and to carry out at the same time editing, ability to write commands directly custom commands, monitor and make parsing of FTP URLs, viewing and editing the command line transfers etc..
    • As for the GUI, the layout is very simple, the screen is divided into four areas, the area at the top you can see the command lines and all the steps step by step during the transfer of one or more files, the central area is divided into two distinct areas, at the left, local files on your machine or your server, in the right area of the FTP folders and files.
    • In the lower area you will have the details of your transfers with key data such as the Host, the destination, the source, the progress bar of transfer, the data relating to the sizing and the transfer rate.
    • Furthermore, all the main buttons are the key features (cut, copy, setting etc ..).

    Cons :

    • The interface may be slightly more modern but is not necessary for an FTP client, andnbsp; to be honest the site needs a bit of restyling too, is not critical but the aesthetical look is always of primary major importance .

CoreFTP LE file manager supports SFTP, SSL, TLS, FTPS protocols, IDN, command line mode, FXP, several types of proxy. LE is a free lite version, and PRO version includes many additional features such as file encryption, zip archiving, synchronization and a bunch of others. To name the few there are Ping andamp; TraceRoute utilities, IBM Information Exchange (IE) support, GXS ICS support. CoreFTP LE interface looks a little bit outdated. And although the panel layout is quite intuitive, you need to reconfigure it to work comfortably. You can use the Reset View command to change the display mode: for example, to shift the logs up, to remove the extra panel and more. From the other side, the client has very low memory footprint (near 4 MB when connected while the most clients need 8-12 MB). Talking about the working with FTP features, recursive file operations (upload, download and delete) and creating jobs for multiple sites are worth mentioning. There is also queuing of multiple FTP transfers on multiple sites, saving FTP transfers in the form of sessions for later resuming, optional reconnecting of lost connections. Multithreading in lite version is not available, however, a considerable number of options are found in the Connection section. In the Transfers section you can enable compression, but again in the LE version, not all options are available. The site manager's setting up is very flexible. The number of supported protocols and options provided for SSH, SSL/TSL, are imposing. Security settings can be found in Advanced File Settings section. Proxy is not forgotten, the list of available ones can be found in the FTP Proxy/HTTP 1.1/SOCKS list. Advanced users may be concerned about the Script/Cmds section, however, command mode here is not the best one, and the terminal is missing.

    Pros :

    • Good functionality.
    • Advanced settings for SSH, SSL/TSL and proxy SFTP support in the free version.

    Cons :

    • No schedule.
    • The outdated interface.
