I LOVE BambooHR! HR is a complex business with some very time-consuming components. Complex, because the HR Pro has to know employment law, has to read and understand people, has to be a strong presence at the leadership table, has to be a team player who also can/will lead and recognize when to step in. Time consuming because very specific and vast information has to be retained for every employee, plus information on any HR-related decisions/activities.When I realized the company I had joined did not have any type of online database, finding the right one became paramount. I engaged an employee well-versed in data management and computer/database usage to help me in my search. I did the initial search and contacted my counterparts in other companies for recommendations. Once I had several companies to vet, my expert helped me ask the right questions. After much assessing, conversations and testing, BambooHR bubbled to the top.
I used UltiPro HRIS application for 5 years. I experienced the implementation and began to manage the application for my organization. I feel that UltiPro was designed to give the user an "all-inclusive” experience. This product is user-friendly compared to other software for HR and Payroll needs.We used the cloud-based application which is administered by Ultimate Software. There is an Enterprise version that allows you to administer the back end of the software but it requires well-skilled staff, and I believe it has a hefty cost. UltiPro offers modules for Recruiting, Payroll, Application Administration, Reporting, Performance Management and others. I felt that UltiPro beats other software because it does provide a designated account manager that handles high-level issues and your overall account. The account manager served as a central point of contact and also escalated issues that required a specialist. I recommend scheduling weekly or monthly meetings with the account manager to keep projects and tasks on track. This worked very well and minimized issues.UltiPro is a product for a company that has goals of being paperless. There are paperless processes such as job changes, salary increases and even simple ones such as address changes. I recommend that you implement paperless processes off the bat. If you do no it makes it much more difficult for managers and staff to adapt to the application.The time and attendance feature can be confusing to users and seemed to be outdated. Reporting is user-friendly within the time and attendance module. PTO can also be a challenge with resetting dates that can wipe out time. I would recommend asking for a complete list of field definitions to better understand the content that should be entered.There is a home page feature that allows you to add pictures and messages for employees to view. This page is fully customize-able and was very useful to upload information such as instructions or company memos.

What we liked: HiringThing gives companies insight into how people are finding their postings. Managers can review and rate applicants from within the platform. HiringThing offers scheduling tools that managers can use when setting up interviews. Reporting and analytics tools show how applicant volume has changed over time. What we didn’t like: Companies with the Basic plan are limited to posting a maximum of two open jobs per month.More about HiringThing

I have had BambooHR for 5 weeks. I have been unable to import my employees information into the system, at least 3 times a week the system doesn't recognize my userauthor or password. I have been unable to implement this system due to the fact I can't use it.More about BambooHR
