I have tried a number of freelancing platforms to offer my software development services, including freelancer.com, Elance, PeoplePerHour, Guru and others. Guru does not have many reasons to be selected over other freelancing platforms. In terms of finding freelancers, the user base is actually relatively smaller than the other sites. Furthermore, there are much fewer clients who post jobs, so most of the existing jobs end up with hundreds of proposals. One of the only advantages is a feature which "suggests" jobs which you may be interested in, based on the skills added to your profile. Other freelancing sites also have this feature, however none of them work as well as Guru's.

Pros : - Guru has a feature which "suggests" jobs which you may be interested in, based on the skills added to your profile. It actually works very well, and saves time which would otherwise be spent sifting through dozens of jobs while narrowing them down. - The job application process is fairly simple to use, so applications can be sent out very quickly.

Cons : - It is very difficult to get selected for a job due to the large amount of candidates which apply. - Support staff take long to answer enquiries. - There is not much administrator moderation on job postings. - The UI is very plain definitely needs an overhaul. - Small amount of jobs which can be applied for per month.
