If you're looking for an easy way to organize the seemingly millions of receipts you accumulate while traveling for business, Shoeboxed is a great solution for your problems. But beware, the more documents you or your business need to submit monthly, the higher the priced plan you’ll need.
For as organized as I am, it's always stressful to keep track of every paper receipt in order to expense it correctly. This product simplifies the process so that I never have to worry about losing a receipt again. You can also upload business cards and other important documents to save in a secure and easily accessible place while you're on the go. In my opinion, the coolest thing about this product is that you can choose to link it to your gmail account and it will automatically move electronic receipts into your Shoeboxed account, which can be accessed online or through the mobile app. When you want to add a receipt, you can simply open the app on your phone and then either take a photo or upload a photo you've previously taken. There is even a mileage tracker that utilizes your phone’s GPS to accurately track your trip.
It's clear that Shoeboxed wants to push you into a paid account because they severely limit the number of documents that you can upload on a monthly basis with a free account (five). Their paid accounts allow 50 to 1,000 docs depending upon price. For those who travel a lot, you will likely need a paid account. Also, the turnaround time is much longer if you have a free account or one of the less expensive paid accounts. It can take days to process the documents you submit via mail. It's much easier to submit them electronically so this may not affect people who don't want to bother with submitting via mail.
