How to Get Your Xero Free Trial

Founded in 2006 by Rod Dury, Xero is a software company in New Zealand that develops cloud-based accounting software for small-to-medium-sized businesses. It has numerous offices in the US, UK, and Australia and most of its products are sold as a SaaS model. The accounting software can enable businesses to manage reports, perform standard business tasks, create purchase orders, generate invoices, determine fixed asset depreciation, make expense claims, and perform automated banking. Enter https://www.xero.com/au/ into the URL of the browser and explore the site to gain vital information regarding the accounting software and how it works to improve your business operations. Once done, click on the ‘Try Xero For Free’ option (highlighted in green), in the center of the page.

After clicking on the ‘Try Xero for Free’ tab, you will be redirected to the Sign-Up page. As you can see, signing up will provide you a 30-day free trial of the accounting software to test every feature and add unlimited users. Fill out the form by entering your first name, last name, email address, and phone number. Then, tick the ‘I Have Read and I Agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy’ box and click on Get Started.

Your free trial won’t last you forever and will expire within 30 days. Therefore, if the accounting software works for you, it would be a good option to purchase a monthly package. Three pricing plans are available: Starter, Standard, and Premium, all of which have some unique features.   • I started using Clientexec in-house version (year 2004) to generate invoices for our customers , then we move to Kbilling (year 2006) which is a standalone software, its a great software, but as it is not cloud based it is difficult to manage, then we move to Zoho Books (year 2013) which served most of our needs. I decided to give Xero a run as apparently it can integrate with lots of other apps. I am still trying to move data from Zoho boos/Kbilling to Xero , May go back to Zoho Books...

  • Xero is a feature-rich cloud-based accounting program and one of the few to offer integrated payroll. Their prices are higher than other programs, but they try to make up for that by offering third party app integrations and other features that you are often charged extra for with other companies.

    Xero is a great software for SMEs, and my experience using the software has always been very positive. Very user-friendly interface, good features and adaptable.

    Pros :

    • This one is obvious - it's on the cloud. No concerns over backup and security. You can access it on the go any time. Caters to a global clientele.
    • Very user-friendly - one of the best software you can find in the market now for non-accountants. Easy to use features like invoicing and payables.
    • has a good suite of management reports and added features like budgeting and performance analysis.
    • Good support team though they may not always be based in your location. The software undergoes constant development too which is positive.
    • Integrates well with a lot of great add-on software. I have tried ReceiptBank, TradeGecko, DebtorDaddy, PracticeIgnition and Workflowmax, and they work without many issues.
      • The Xero App for smartphones allows immediate access to a company's financials - bank balances, receivables. It is also quite easy for an employee to put in their expense claims via the app.

    Cons :

    • They only have country versions for NZ, AU the US and UK. The rest of the world uses global version, and the automatic bank feeds don't work in a lot of locations. Eg - Singapore.
    • It's not recommended for companies that have heavy inventory integration.
    • Xero is best suited for small and medium-sized companies - trying to adapt it to bigger companies - I would say more than 150 Employees may slow it down and would not give the best results.
    • While the Xero app for smartphones is an innovative feature, it does not have any facilities to show reporting. It is not really possible to see any management reports on the app. For travelling professionals, this might be a disadvantage. I understand Xero is working on this aspect and expects improvements soon The Global version of Xero payroll does not have an inbuilt time sheet function. This is available for the country versions though and can be handy for many industries.

    It's a useful online application which suits to small - businesses. I have used it in my one of the projects where invoices being generated by the recruiters and then send to Xero systems. It was being used as third party integration and was very popular among employers specially deals in the recruitment business. It provides many features and builds on sound financial principles. Also offers many features which can be useful in our daily lives and pleasurable to use. Although it can't match the other software like QuickBooks in terms of features and extensibility, but in-spite of that it provides a firm solution to small business accounting solution that built an impressive amount of support over the years. Every major accounting function is supported that is Account receivable and payable, payroll and inventory management. It's possible for the small business person with no accounting knowledge could run the company's finances using this system because of its simpleness.

    Pros : It provides online invoicing , support third party integration, Browser based access plus it also provides mobile application as well. Its easy to use for business person without having accounting background. Blog are also available for regular updates on product development.

    Cons : I encounter slow email support , plus it also proved less features in mobile application. Still to be handful to complete with software like QuickBooks.
