I much prefer Quicken over Inuit’s Mint, because it can handle much more complex financial scenarios and it isn’t read only. Quicken can definitely grow with you as your finances become more complex — Mint on the other hand cannot.Intuit’s Quicken 2014 still remains the gold standard of personal finance applications — locally installed or in the cloud.

Quicken Starter Edition is great personal finance software if you're looking for the basics. The free mobile app is convenient. Email and text alerts allow you to monitor changes so that you can quickly intervene if necessary.
If you need to track investments, you can upgrade to Quicken Deluxe.

Quicken Deluxe is great for your budgeting and general finances but if you have more complex investing needs (like comparing mutual funds or tracking cost basis) then Quicken Premier will work better for you. Quicken Home & Business might suit you better if you want to track your business as well.
