With a corporate account, you can set up team members. This gives you the ability, as the admin, to assign credits, move credits and delete credits from each team member. You can also track credit usage for each member. This is helpful to track costs of the images you are purchasing for your projects. They allow a "Comp" download before you buy an image so you can try it out to make sure it will fit your needs before you purchase.

Pros :

  • With a corporate account, you can set up team members. This gives you the ability, as the admin, to assign credits, move credits and delete credits from each team member. You can also track credit usage for each member.
  • They allow a "Comp" download before you buy an image so you can try it out to make sure it will match with your needs before you purchase.
  • They also have audio and footage for your projects as well.
  • They also let you chose the size and quality you are looking for at different price points.
  • The corporate account allows you to buy bulk credit at discounts.
  • Their team is there to help you search and answer licensing questions you may have.
  • You have a "lightbox" that allows you to save images, footage, audio too so when you are searching and find files you like you can save them and go back to them for easy downloading or comparing later without having to redo a search.
  • When you find an image you like but not quite what you are looking for, they have a feature that allows you to browse similar images. Also, if you find an image with a model you like, you can also browse fro more images with that model or even that particular photographer.

Cons :

  • Images are not exclusive so others can download and use them as well.
  • You still need to make sure you select the correct licensing level you need before you download.
  • Many images are not categorized correctly so you do get some images in your searches that are not relevant to what you are looking for. andnbsp;

Does the minimalism is the main thing that you want to see on your photographic portfolio site? Then you should definitely try the Viewbook. This service offers clean photography sites, without ad blocks, decorations or other distracting things. Each site created on this platform demonstrates the best quality of the images. The photos are never compressed here, they are just resized for the previews, so the photographer can always be confident that his works are presented in the best way when viewed in the full screen mode. All uploaded photos are backed up so the online archive is safe. Note that there is no need to upload the photos by hand. You can use the automated tools for photos transferring from Facebook, Wordpress, Myspace, Twitter or iPhone. There are handy tools for the sharing of each photo. The images could be shared in social networks or you can get the link for embedding the photo on the other website. One of the great Viewbook features is creating portfolio for the each project. If you have a lot of different photos, it is possible to create separate galleries for each project. The galleries will be linked to each other on the main site. Some galleries could be public, the other could be closed. The photographer can upload all photos and then choose only the best images for the showcase. The clients can always download the original photos with a couple of clicks. The Viewbook galleries are easily configured with a variety of parameters. There is even the specialized iPhone/iPad gallery with all the essential tools for a quick preview of the image in a sensor design. For those photographers who like to analyze the best and worse site pages here is the Google Analytics integration. Add it to the site and you will always know what images attract the viewers, what galleries should be revised.

Pros :

  • Clean portfolio websites.
  • Many services integration.

Cons :

  • No integrated contact forms and ecommerce.
  • No preview for the website.

The great thing about Veer is that your revenue per download is generally quite good for microstock with their credit system.  However they just went live with their new subscription program in December 2011, so only time will tell if that will turn Veer into just another low-paying subscription dependant site.  In their defence though, they listened to the microstock community when implementing their subscription system (after initially revealing a horrendous design that almost everyone bailed out of), so hopefully it will serve both contributor and agency well in the long run. All in all though, Veer is a good microstock agency to be a part of.  Don’t expect a flood of downloads, but every now and then you may just get a very pleasant surprise (especially with their excellent Extended License rates).

The key factor behind the success of 123RF is the low price offered to the buyers making it affordable for all irrespective buyers go through one-time purchase or subscription program channel. The website’s rewards program is a big temptation for its active users. Instead designers who are hunting for wide variety of original images.

Veer doesn’t have the selling power of other microstock agencies, they’re also very slow to review content, and still have a few quirks in their system. But the average royalty per download, until now, is well above average. Extended License royalties are also well above average. This is what makes Veer a respected and well-liked agency in the microstock industry. But all that will go away if the current subscription plan is implemented as it is.

The folk at Viewbook seem to be working in good faith, doing everything they can to provide a good product to a loyal client base. However, while work continues on the much-delayed but now-testing V3 (the next-generation Viewbook), the current product feels neglected and under-serviced. There is no way to sell photos, no in-site option for contact-form creation, and the template options cross the line from minimalist to simply limited.
