Sirius Radio is really the best. We used to use an iHome to listen to FM and music on our iPods and then upgraded to Sirius and we’re really impressed. We no longer have to hear the same songs over and over. Not only are there no commercials, there are so many stations to choose from, whether it’s music or news or sports.
Pros : We have a Sirius Radio portable speaker for our office, which allows us to set 10 different stations and switch those out if we want. You’ll soon find that 10 is not enough because there are tons of great stations to choose from! We use it for music and the selection is wide ranging, from hip hop and alternative to pop, acoustic covers and music from decades like the 70s, 80s and 90s. There are even a variety of holiday stations around Christmas. The sound quality is really great and it’s nice not to have interruption from commercials or long morning shows with more talking than music. I also like that the stations typically play music long before it ends up on traditional radio stations. I’ve discovered many new bands and great songs that I never would have heard on regular FM. Some channels also play recordings of concerts or invite artists into the studio to play live sets. Sirius also runs frequent contests for subscribers and you can win trips to concerts. Even though you have to pay for a subscription, you’re getting access to exclusive content and a greater number of channels than on the regular radio.
Cons : Very rarely, the portable speaker will cut out or shut off and need to be reset by being unplugged or simply turned on once again. Perhaps it’s an issue with our Internet connection. It’s really the only negative and the positives greatly outweigh this one issue.
Spotify is the ultimate tool for listening to and discovering new music (unless you’re looking for Taylor Swift). It’s easy to use and has an abundance of well-known and yet-to-be-discovered artists. Apple Music simply can’t compare. The premium version is recommended if you’re going to be streaming music in an office setting to avoid commercials.
The user interface is simple to use and clean. Even without the premium version, you can play specific songs and skip an unlimited amount of times on the desktop version. You also have access to endless curated playlists, new releases and a library with every genre of music known to man. You can also create and share your own playlists easily. You can even make your playlists collaborative so that your friends can add songs as well. However, you also have the option to make a playlist private. You can build your own or use the numerous Spotify playlists for inspiration when building your own. It also has a new feature that recommends songs and artists for you based on what you’ve listened to. It really does everything for you. You can even find a playlist based on the day of the week, time of day and your mood. It also has a radio feature that doesn’t tie you down to a specific playlist. I use it every day in the office. Spotify makes it quick and easy to find the perfect song to complement the task I’m working on.
When compared to other platforms, Spotify does have an extensive library of artists. However, there are some who have pulled their music. Obviously, the ads can be quite annoying when you’re using the free version. On the mobile version, you don’t have the option of choosing a particular song to listen to, which isn’t ideal. There are also sometimes weird glitches where a song doesn't play, but you just have to restart the program.

The app gave me the ability to drop down my Sirius plan a notch too, because I didn’t need all of the radios I was using anymore. It saved me money, and I got added value as well. For me, this app really is the icing on the cake, but I’m admittedly a big fan of the service. If you’re a music buff, give the app and SiriusXM a shot. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a new favorite app like I did.More about Sirius XM Radio
