Duolingo's work is very effective knowing it has accumulated a waiting list of more than 350,000 users at the beginning of the private beta in 2011. In 2012, Duolingo launched for the general public. This product was chosen as the iPhone App of the Year by Apple in 2013; it was the first time that an educational application was awarded. Also of this, in 2014, Duolingo won Best Education Startup at the 2014 Crunchies; it was the most downloaded education application in Google Play between 2013 and 2014. Duolingo has about 60 million users that 20 million are available in January 2014.
