Prestashop is absolutely a great solution if you want to create an online store or start on eCommerce, I've used it a few times for some stores, and it's easy to implement and use. It has a bunch of customizable options, and you don't need a deep understanding of programming or development to use it which is great. You can manage your templates and almost every important section of the platform, but it's limited if you are not planning to pay for a good template.

Pros :

Here a couple of things that I think Prestashop is doing well:

  • User experience and usability: The platform is simple and easy to use, it doesn't matter if you know about programming or something similar, you will be able to manage your store without major problems.
  • Statistics: Some of the things that I liked more about PrestaShop is that you can see your statistics in your own admin panel (back office), I mean you can see your sells, visits, orders and statistical numbers about it.
  • Manage clients and discounts: One of the things that I like about PrestaShop is the way that you can manage your discounts and clients, you can see which type of clients are the most active and other things that can help you organize your targets and SEO. Also, you can set rules for discounts really easy.
  • Installing Prestashop is really easy, I was surprised when I had to set up the whole thing because it was concise and simple, a really good and non-traumatic experience compared to othe

Cons :

Somethings I didn't like about Prestashop when I used it:

  • Finding good templates for free is hard, I wasted a lot of time trying to find a good theme for the page and couldn't find anything good honestly, after a couple of hours and searching I found one, but it was a little buggy. If you want a decent theme, you'll have to pay for it.

PrestaShop is a platform that is overall cheap and extremely flexible IF you have the skills to manage it. After reviewing the PrestaShop platform, we believe it should be a top contender in your comparison and analysis of the best ecommerce platforms only if you have a good understanding of programming knowledge and skills.

Lifeyo is ideal for anyone who wants to build simple website quickly, without any design experience. The application is very easy to use. The two subscription options are very affordable, starting at free. Individuals and freelancers would get the most use out of Lifeyo because the site limits the maximum number of sites for each account. Users can easily choose professional templates, customize them and add content without worrying about any coding.

The rich feature set and powerful tools that WebPlus X7 delivers into your hands count for much; however, this web design software simply doesn't offer as much as others do. Everything that is packaged within WebPlus X7 is high-quality, grade-A stuff, but that won't do you any good if you can't find what you want. Of course, if you're making your website from the bottom on up, this won't be a concern. WebPlus X7's excellent tools and advanced features ultimately overcome most of the lacking numbers, but for beginners, there is probably better web design software available.

I have three stores now with Prestashop, which I have been using for over six years. I would say that the older versions worked perfectly well and I had no problems. I would have given 5 stars in all areas. (I am talking version 1.6.0.9 or thereabouts) Unwittingly "upgrading" to the latest versions, I'm now on 1.6.0.14, has rendered Prestashop almost unworkable. It only works now for me thanks to the brilliant paid add-on Store Manager. My two sites with fewer products - 20 and 1200 respectively, work fine still. My main site, which is my main source of income has 4,500 products. I cannot edit or save products (which is where Store Manager comes in). The search indexing does not work. CSV product import will not work. Database backups always time out. There are frequent errors with Payment gateways. Every recommended update usually causes new problems. All this despite the fact that I am using the default template and have made no code changes. Support is absolutely zero. My problems have been well discussed on the forums for over two years and are common. The programmers do nothing. I am not a programmer. I have spent over $2000 on programming help over the last two years just to keep my site running - and Prestashop is supposed to be "Open Source" and free. I would highly recommend Prestashop if you have few products, but I would say that if you start to go over 2000 then in my experience it simply does not work. The programmers are too busy making add ons which they make money on, than getting the basic shell to work. Transferring to another cart now would be a nightmare, largely because of the huge number of product photos, I think about 30,000 now.

It’s been somewhat difficult to write paragraph after paragraph about where LifeYo has missed the mark, but there really isn’t much that they provide at all compared to the multitude of platforms available today. From their friendly and welcoming vibe, it seems like their development team honestly wanted to make a great product. Unfortunately, someone forgot to do their research first on what’s made some of the competition before them successful. For a paid-only service, it’s just not even close to some free builders out there, making LifeYo tough to recommend.

Between a frustrating, inconsistent interface and being Flash dependent, it’s really hard to recommend Moonfruit. If today was 2006, Moonfruit might be a decent option but the reality is that in 2012 there are much better website builders to build your website on.
