There is currently a huge amount of competition in the drag-and-drop website builder and CMS market. Webs is one of the big players, along with Wix, Weebly, SquareSpace and of course, WordPress. With such a large choice of tools available, the main tool chosen depends on preference mostly. However, there are definitely a few reasons to choose Webs over some of the others. First of all, there are a substantial set of design templates to choose from, complete with their own unique CSS styling. Having said that, however, some of these templates are somewhat outdated when compared with the templates available for Squarespace and Weebly. Another reason to choose Weebly is that there are a fair amount of SEO options such as the ability to add custom meta titles, tags, and keywords. The code generated by the site builder is also SEO-friendly and plays nicely with Google, Yahoo and Bing. This is of utmost importance for almost any website. Another reason to choose Webs, is that it is theoretically possible to create a website from inception to hosting, for no cost at all. This is because Webs offers a completely free plan, unlike certain CMS platforms such as Shopify. The disadvantage of this, however, is that websites created on the free plan are limited to ten web pages. Furthermore, the free plan does not have much choice in terms of eCommerce-related tools, and an upgrade is necessary if the website's main purpose is to be for the selling of goods. One of unique features of Webs, is that a mobile-responsive version of a website can be created automatically, using the same WYSIWYG site builder. This is not a common feature found in other CMS and website builders. Besides this, Webs also allows users to easily create card-based UI layouts, which are also excellent for mobile responsiveness. All in all, Webs is a great platform, however, it is mostly suited for general-purpose websites, rather than dynamic ones, as unlike WordPress and Drupal; it is not possible to edit the generated HTML and CSS code.

Pros :

  • A large amount of design templates to choose from.
  • Decent amount of SEO tools.
  • The code generated by the website builder is SEO-friendly.
  • Webs includes a free plan, where it is possible to create a completely free website.
  • Webs contains native support for card-based layouts, which is great for mobile responsiveness.
  • Webs can automatically create a mobile-responsive version of a site.

Cons :

  • Free accounts do not get 24/7 live chat support, and there is no personalized help for free plans.
  • Free websites are limited to 10 pages.
  • Templates are a bit outdated, and not as striking as Weebly's templates.
  • The free version has limited eCommerce capabilities.
  • It is not possible to view or modify the website's code, unlike WordPress or Drupal. This even includes HTML and CSS.

uCoz is not the simple CMS. It is a powerful online builder for websites creating along with the hosting. You do not need to install and configure the engine, everything is already done for you. Your task is to create a website visually and fill it with content. At the moment, the users have created more than one million sites with uCoz. The user is offered to build the website using the modules. There are three basic modules (Users, Site Search, Page Editor), and more 20 can be connected in the admin panel. There are also site news, articles directory, photo albums, videos, email forms, SEO module, stats, blog, Bulletin Board, forum, polls, online store and many other modules. uCoz modules can be used together to create a full featured website, or separately, e.g. as a blog platform, online store, etc. The each module is full features. This means that while using it, you are unlikely to have a thought like "but it would be possible to do like that!". Any uCoz template can be edited manually. There is a template designer where you may edit CSS/HTML or even draw a design from scratch. The value of all blocks are signed and described, so even with minimal knowledge of these languages, there should be no problems. There is even a visual editor for individual units. It is not as beautiful and easy as, say, uKit, but it is still able to perform its functions. Of course, you can import any of your code in the body of the website. Or replace the individual sections of the template code.

Pros :

  • The quick start Large selection of free domains.
  • The ability to add your domain.
  • A large number of templates.

Cons :

  • The lack of support for PHP and MySQL (compensated by the great number of modules).
  • Difficulty when transferring site to another engine and hosting.
  • Not the best support (but a lot of fan forums instead).

Webs.com is a good website builder with a rich set of features that can’t be found anywhere else. The way you can organize your site’s design stands out. The carousel image slider is pretty unique and will make your website look very professional. However, at this time some parts of the user interface feel a bit inconsistent as they’ve been taken over from the old site builder version. Let’s hope Webs will polish everything out in the future.

uCoz website builder has both benefits and disadvantages, yet the former definitely outnumber the latter. What I like most of all about this particular web service is that it provides you with complete freedom, as you get direct access to your site’s code. This is to say that it offers everything to build an exceptional, multifunctional website.
