  • Adobe Dreamweaver 2014 is another positive evolution in the web design industry and is one of the best design suites out there to help you meet the demands of the next generation of web content.

  • To me, the target for WYSIWYG Web editors has always been to let people edit on-canvas, not only so that non-coders could build pages, but so that even coders could design visually. Otherwise, why call them WYSIWYG editors? In the past, most Web editors that tried this failed miserably. Dreamweaver CC 2014 is getting closer, though, even if you still have to know code conventions, and if you like editing on-canvas, you’ll like the updates that Adobe has made.

  • The additional tools and services in Dreamweaver CC 2014, many of which are web-focussed, certainly provide a compelling argument for the subscription service if you haven’t already made the jump.

  • Dreamweaver CC isn’t a major overhaul; most of Adobe’s work this year went into migrating the program toward the Creative Cloud subscription service. Adobe still has much work to do to make this application and its Creative Cloud siblings truly cloud-based. Nevertheless, Dreamweaver CC remains an inspiring application, with many ways to help you realize your Web creativity. If you’ve decided to subscribe to the Creative Cloud subscription service, then you’ll certainly want to try it out.

  • Dreamweaver isn’t perfect. Even the newly simplified interface can be confusing to navigate, although Adobe typically provides three or four different routes to the feature you’re looking for – either from the top-line menu, or the CSS Designer panel, or a pop-up context menu, or by clicking the name of a page element in the main interface. As in previous versions, the raw code that Dreamweaver creates isn’t formatted in the elegant way that many hand-coders prefer, although that won’t bother most users.

  • As an advanced website editor, Dreamweaver has no serious competition, and, unless you're willing to code by hand, it's the only serious choice for building up-to-date multiplatform websites.

  • It’s open to question whether Dreamweaver itself is the best choice these days for web design and development: even the Creative Cloud suite itself offers two alternatives (namely Edge and Muse). But if you’re a web professional wavering over Adobe’s new subscription model, we reckon this is one update that could tip the balance. Add to that, anyone who uses Dreamweaver will find out that the new CSS Designer will make his life easier every day.

  • It’s pretty clear that when it comes to abilities, Dreamweaver is probably the best web design software that you can find. But if you’re not a professional or don’t have serious intentions of creating a website with high expectations, then it’s better to just look for a simpler and easier to use alternative instead.

  • Adobe Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG and text editor for Windows Macintosh best suited to Professional Web Designers and Professional Web Developers. Dreamweaver CC is a high-end professional development and design tool. It is missing some modern features that other Adobe products have, but is still a good choice for professional designers.
