Convenience: Website owners can tend to their visitors no matter where they are. Messages can be routed to consumer IM clients (i.e. MSN, AIM, GTalk, Yahoo), so messages can be replied on-the-go with mobile IM clients. And if website owners are not logged onto the Zopim Dashboard nor their IM, Zopim detects that and switches to the offline messaging mode where visitors can leave their message.

Simplicity of design: Zopim’s Chatbar design is very much inspired by Gtalk within Gmail. The Chatbar design is not just highly visible, its a more elegant way to handle chat than in a separate pop up browser window.

  • I use this for a b2c and b2b auto parts aftermarket part reseller and just got one of my other customers to add it to his brand new app site in the Netherlands. His only comment was no skype integration, but my understanding is that it was a microsoft decision and has nothing to do with zopim. It works on his iphone so he is happy, the auto parts reseller puts it to use on the desktop of one of the customer service guys. The search on the site works well, so most of the people on that site contact us when they cannot find a product. If they cant find it, we probably don't carry it, but as a result we were able to pinpoint what other lines to carry so we can capture the sales.

    When choosing a platform for hosting a live chat system, a number of options are available. One of those most popular choices is Zopim, and it has truly earned its reputation as it has a large amount of features and an abundance of advantages. For many users, the free plan is enough to get started with, and the other plans are relatively cost-effective, especially when compared with some competing products.

    Setting up Zopim on a website is very straightforward since the actual code can be generated. This means that non-technical users can easily configure the setup of the live chat from Zopim's website, and then copy and paste a code snippet into their own website. Zopim supports many browsers, so the code snippet can be added to any major browser, and should be completely compatible.

    Plugins for Zopim are available for many mainstream content management systems such as Shopify, WordPress and Magento, so setup on these platforms is also very straightforward. Zopim has a number of useful features, which helps to facilitate the job of support agents.

    First of all, the live chat screen and popups can be hidden if no support personnel are online at a specific point in time, so as to avoid disappointment for customers. Support agents can also easily select pre-suggested answers for commonly used sentences. Users can select a department to be directed to before commencing the chat, so agents need not worry about dealing with issues beyond their expertise. While Zopim is definitely a great contender for a live chat system, there are some slight issues which are worth mentioning. First of all, site performance is sometimes impacted with the addition of the live chat. It is not a frequent issue, but in my experience, I have noticed it occurring on some occasions. So for users with strict requirements of performance and reliability, they might need to look elsewhere.

    Besides this, the only other problem which I have encountered is that the live chat layout, feature set and look-and-feel, is not very customizable, unlike some competing products such as Olark.

Zopim has helped me to get a measuring unit of the customer satisfaction that I am achieving and managing my tags and posts over messenger with their Facebook integration. Using enhanced and advanced analytical approaches for targeting and creating new customers and to create a user-friendly and unique experience for each visitor that visits. Real time chatting with the customers and knowing their demands apart from it analyzing and directing the particular type of customer and its requirement is what Zopim offers at its best to help and grow the business of an organization.

    Pros :

    • Zopim has helped my handicrafts business to grow nearly 25 percent in the last quarter, the real-time chat offering that they have helped me to identify the actual requirement and analyze his or her choice and then guide them towards their particular section of buying.
    • This has helped me in creating a more strengthened bond with the customers and increase my sales greatly.
    • The freemium plan that they provide has given me a chance to gain confidence over this and then finally I went into the premium plans that I found to be quite cheap and affordable.

    Cons :

    • The customer support at the Zopim team is great, but it could have been improved more to make it perfect.
    • I faced certain issues with the 24*7 support over weekdays due to time problems in different zones of the world.
    • Apart from it, the free trial that they provide is just for 14 days while usually, the companies are offering a package for at least 30 days.
    • The premium customers are being given the 24*7 services even over the weekends while for the lower packages such services are not yet available.
    • The customer support is only via chat, they do not offer support over telephone or video chat. This would have provided to get connected to the customers more for a particular business while providing the customers and experience of shopping that they had never imagined before.

    Zopim Live Chat interface is clean and modern. This live chat app can be used from anywhere on any device given an internet connection. It helps customers to get in touch with agents from their mobile devices and without waiting in long telephone queues. Also, the agents can attend client’s right from their mobile devices.

    Pros :

    • Zopim also offers its API, which is required to integrate existing applications like CRM, ERP or Analytics solution with Zopim Live Chat application.
    • Zopim also supports foreign language translation. This enables clients to communicate in the preferred language of their choice.
    • Even when the agents communicate in their language, the clients receive the translated messages in their choice of language.
    • This makes sense for global businesses or businesses that attract a lot of international customers.
    • The live chat has another advantage over the telephone support.
    • The agent can see all the information related to the client’s device, geographical location, IP address and this data is very vital in better knowing your customers and target them with personalized promotions.
    • Also, with all the other customer touch points, the customer is the one who initiate the contact but with live chat, the agents can take the initiative to contact customer once he is on the web page and see if he needs any help.
    • One can also ask the users the purpose of the chat before the chat initiates so that the customer query can be directed to the right department. This is very helpful in case the companies are using the same interface for receiving queries for multiple departments.
    • It also tracks what all pages have been traversed by each visitor to land on a specific page which helps in improvement of site navigation.

    Cons :

    • Zopim live chat tool is not very flexible to customization.
    • It allows limited customization that makes it unable to be adapted to the look, feel, and theme of the website.
    • The customer support from Zopim is available round the clock, but it is also available as a live chat option.
    • It becomes a limitation in case the internet is not working, and one can’t reach the customer support without internet.
    • Round the clock customer support is only available for the premium customers and not all the customers.

    Zopim is an easy to use chat tool for interacting with visitors on a website. Plus there's a free version for 1 agent to try it out, so for small businesses and solo entrepreneurs, you can use this at no cost. For teams larger than 1, the rates are very affordable. There's also a 14 day trial of the premium plan available for say tech people in larger companies to try out before committing to it. It's pretty much like using any instant messenger, and you just chat to visitors through the Zopim website or an integrated IM chat program. Zopim even has mobile apps for iPhone and Android, so you never have to worry about missing a chat with a potential customer. It's pretty simple to install: once you're set up in Zopim, you simply copy the embed code, then paste it into your website in the head code. To do that on say a Wordpress site, you can go into the theme settings to see if there's a box for that, or else go into Appearance > Theme > and find a file named header.php and paste it in there. A similar process applies to other websites. Zopim has some neat features like you can see the visitor's path through a website, and see whether they are active or idle. I used it at a company when we were launching a product, so we were all on standby on chat to answer questions and help drive sales. You can see where a user is located and how long they've been on the site. When a new users comes to the site, you hear a noticeable, but relatively annoying, high-pitched sound that still rings in my ears to this day. Though you can use other IM systems too with Zopim to avoid this. Zopim is owned by Zendesk, and they integrate together, to give you a holistic customer support solution
