  • Just falls short

I had high hopes for this CRM, but in the end it falls short. I am looking for a simple, straightforward CRM for my real estate business. They are on to some really good things, but they aren't there yet.

Pros : The interface is clean, simple and attractive. It seems intuitive to learn. The CRM integrates with Google and Twitter, and has mobile apps. One of the most unique features is the ability to log (and record) calls. No additional software is required, I registered my cell number, and simply by clicking a phone number in the program, it uses my cell to place and track the call. There is a main feed that tracks all activities made by the team (which I don't need), and a clear, easy to read dashboar

Cons : The CRM did not like my IMAP email--it took over a week to get it to work. The system also does not pull in emails other than Gmail (which I don't use for business). Email tracking is done via a bcc address. The system also boasts that it has a top-secret method for constantly searching the net to fill in missing information on contacts, yet it can't even find straightforward Facebook profiles. For the price ($20/month) this CRM just doesn't do enough to justify the cost.

    Unhappy with Nutshell

We used Nutshell as our first CRM as on the surface it had good features, however, when we grew and it came time to migrate to a custom CRM we had built, it was near impossible to export our data and the support team was absolutely useless. I would avoid using Nutshell.

    The best for its price

We have tried out Salesforce.com, PipelineDeals and Highrise. Nutshell is by far the best in every things. The user interface is much more intuitive and the integration with tons of cloud-base applications like Xero and Quote Roller is just wonderful. The automation of the sales process is excellent and the customized template of the sales process makes it really easy to remind the sames reps of what steps are to be taken next.

Pros : Easy to use and the reporting section is just amazing and very easy to customize your own reports and save them to reuse. The social aspect of mentioning team members and accounts is great. Plus integrated email and a Mobile App

Cons : I would like to see more updates, especially in the mobile app

  • What do you like best?

    1) The setup of Nutshell is easy -- setting up processes, milestones, tasks, activities are very easy.

    What do you dislike?

    1) Nutshell doesn't work for subscription revenue companies. If your company earns its revenues from monthly or annual subscriptions, there's no way to account or track for this type of revenue model. In other words, doesn't work well for SaaS businesses. Similarly, it doesn't account for SaaS businesses that have multiple paid seats within leads. For example, if there are 10 contacts under one account within a lead, there's no way to indicate which of the specific contacts within that lead have a paid seat. Same with reporting -- no way to track subscription or per seat pricing (which is a bit odd given that Nutshell is a SaaS company itself).

    What do you like best?

Simple integration with Google, forces me to enter results of meetings (this is good - everyone else on team needs the info), works on iPhone & iPad, minimal setup. $!0 pp/mo. And lovely, responsive customer service, even to idiot CEOs.

    What do you dislike?

Nothing, but then again, I am not used to a lot of bells and whistles that just (for me) complicate what I'm trying to get done.

    What do you like best?

When we were evaluating CRM's the one deciding factor between Nutshell and SalesForce came down to spin up time and price. Nutshell wins on both counts (by a huge margin). Salesforce was 10 times as much per month for what we wanted and they wanted development dollars to upload our ERP data. Nutshell gave us a formatting document for our data and we uploaded and cleaned it in under 2 business days.

    What do you dislike?

It's still a cloud app (and so is SalesForce). As an admin, I am going to be very wary of anything that I do not have direct access to. The biggest thing my sales force has kicked back to me is the architectural and procedural philosophy of Nutshell doesn't align with how they think. Nutshell has the idea that every interaction is a sales activity and bases everything around leads. I think it is a great way to force some very needed discipline on sales staff (they are like herding cats) but they hate it.

  • This is clearly a solid offering in the space and I’ll definitely follow Nutshell over time and see what the future holds. Admittedly, when I evaluate these types of cloud offerings I do a drive-by for a few days and if the curb appeal isn’t there, I move on. As a small consultancy I look for products that can immediately improve my business processes. This one had enough usability issue that made me say “Huh?” that I punted on it for now.

  • Nutshell is a promising but immature product that we don’t advise adopting (yet). We’re giving it a 67/100, a D by our scale, with the caveat that it’s probably going to improve, perhaps drastically.

  • Nutshell.com is a valuable tool for anyone who needs to find an effective way to manage sales leads and contacts. The application provides users with a place to store a wealth of data, and even provides items that the user might not expect (like local weather for contacts). The three subscription plans allows users to pay for just as much access as they need based on the number of users on their account.

  • To wrap this review up we would like to express good impression that Nutshell has made on us however it needs to refine its user interface which contains lot of good ideas however it is not polished yet and there are some issues that could make the whole experience better and easier for a user. Other then this we are very positive about the integration options, mobile support and Reports module, which differentiates Nutshell from its competitors.
