With Poser 10 and Poser Pro 2014, Smith Micro have created a new version of the application that will please all users in equal measure. By continuing to deepen the Poser feature set with additions like Pixar Subdivision Surfaces and by adding the brilliant new Fitting Room, Smith Micro brings Poser to an entirely new level of power and effectiveness for the casual and professional user alike.

Even if you never use Poser professionally and only dabble with it for fun, you’ll be impressed by the quality of 3D work you can produce with relative ease, and gain a new appreciation and understanding for the 3D design and animation work that goes into many of the scenes in films that leave audiences stunned.

I had already been aware of and convinced of Poser’s use as a viable reference tool for illustrators and other artists. What really sold me it were the additional physics and animation features. RWBY and Anomaly’s impressive use of Poser are excellent examples of what it’s capable of if you have the talent to back it up. Poser Pro 2014 has numerous applications in illustration, design and animation and is a worthwhile professional investment.

Whether you want to make animated movies or video game avatars or need digital crash-test dummies or animated crime scene reenactments, you can't beat Poser 9 for out-of-the-box ease of use. Even with no prior 3D modeling experience, it's relatively simple to adapt, pose, and animate any of the many included templates. Creating a fully digitized version of whoever it is in your imagination may take some dedication and time, however. So, what would you little maniacs like to do first?

Poser 9 is not just for geeks wanting to create their very own Weird Science. The program makes it so easy to get started with 3D modeling, it's the go-to tool anytime you need to manipulate or animate a 3D figure. Whether that figure is an animal, human, or alien, Poser 9 can make it dance.

Many of Poser's flaws are addressed in an update that's easier and faster to use.

Poser Pro is a great choice for creating your own comic or designing anime. The unique illustration tools and special features help you not only design amazingly detailed 3D anime, but also let you bring them to life with animation and audio. Some illustration tools and integrated email features are missing in this comic software, but it has enough to keep you busy and let you design amazing anime and comic books.

Poser is a character design, posing and rendering application. Version 10 builds upon existing strengths by delivering significant new features such as Bullet Physics, subdivision surfaces and a real-time Comic Book Preview mode. Smith Micro has also improved many of the application’s existing features, including the incorporation of vertex weight map editing into various toolsets, a better Morph Brush and new model libraries.

While the results still don't compare to studio animations built from scratch and driven by hours of hard work, Poser 8 has come a long way from its stiff, plastic origins to provide even non-animators with a way to fully realize their imaginations and see their concepts come to life.
