If you need 3D modeling of human figure most likely you need Poser. The process of setting up character animation is one of the most difficult stages of 3D creation. Poser helps to solve this problem quickly. The Poser user has a complete set of tools for creating and configuring skeletal animation. The main purpose of this app is game assets creation, but it could be also used in medical projects, for simple presentations creation, as well as for multimedia projects where you want to demonstrate human movement in 3D. You can flexibly control the movements of the various parts of the skeleton, to determine the degree of influence of one or another part to the outer shell. There is a console from which the user may control the tilting and rotations of the bones. A definite advantage of the program is that there are a lot of libraries, including animated people, animals, and various scenery that can simplify the creation of environment. Poser compatible with a number of professional 3D editors and also with the most popular game engines — Unity 3D and Unreal Engine. The last Poser release is named Poser Pro Game Dev. This edition can use Kinect for Windows motion capture system. Because of this, it's very easy to achieve the realistic character movements. Poser Pro Game Dev also contains tools for editing the model topology, making it possible to obtain low-poly animation. The other prominent feature — FBX file format support. The earlier Poser version (Poser Pro 2014) includes only Collada import and export.
The first thing which needs to be said about Painter is that it is not Photoshop. Corel leans in heavy on the Digital Artist Software moniker and for a good reason. Painter is not about Image Manipulation or Image Editing (Photoshop's mainstay), it's about creating art. The easiest way to think about the line between the programs is this. If your goal is to clean up a Photo for the magazine cover, then Photoshop is your tool. If your task is to create a digital Mona Lisa, Painter's the alley you want to be in.Photoshop has some basic art effects, watercolor and pastel are a few. And several plugins grow that base significantly. But none of them could touch the raw power of Painter when it comes to Art medium simulation.Painter is a mature product, almost as old as Photoshop. And it's learning curve is just about as steep. This is not a tool that one installs and starts producing art within the hour. It has a huge amount of adjustable brushes, and each attribute can be customized to taste. But because of its maturity, Painter doesn't have too much new it can introduce by way of new brushes or gimmicks to attract a user to purchase. What Painter relies on is the ability to perfectly simulate a multitude of art forms, oils, crayon, chalk, watercolor on different canvas' and produce an output that truly is representative of the creator's talent. If you can't draw, you can't blame Painter. Brush strokes heavy handed? All will be revealed. Painter is truly representative of the artist medium.Although there are some plugins for Painter, and it does fully support Photoshop Brushes, allowing the user to leverage the huge amount of free brushes on the web, Painter pretty much comes ready to use out of the box. The one must have item I would mandate that any artist serious about using the software effectively get is a fairly large Tablet. In fact, I'd say that not using a tablet with Painter makes the software essentially useless since it relies so heavily on the artist hand pressure and stroke. One can do Image retouch by mouse, but not painting a matte using oils or a charcoal drawing. Bottom line, use the money you would have spent on Photoshop art plugins to get a fair sized tablet. Working in Painter is easy, and it handles large files easily, via it's Riff file format. Even though it doesn't leverage GPU rendering, Painter rarely chokes on files that can easily reach a terabyte. It is also fully compatible with Photoshop and can write to the PSD format. In the end, if painting, drawing and producing "art" in a digital medium is your goal, Painter is by far the best tool.

Even if you never use Poser professionally and only dabble with it for fun, you’ll be impressed by the quality of 3D work you can produce with relative ease, and gain a new appreciation and understanding for the 3D design and animation work that goes into many of the scenes in films that leave audiences stunned.More about Poser
