  • Little for existing users to get overly excited about, but still an accomplished program that has a lot to offer.

    We Like:

Amazingly simple to use yet yields great results.
Wide range of effects, instruments and samples.

    We Don't Like:

    • Feels a little basic at times.
Can be fiddling and time consuming to bring a project to its conclusion.

  • More samples and better performance than ever before - this is the friendly face of music production at a great price. The program is very flexible and you are able to create your own custom workflow to suit your style.

  • Music Maker's feature list is impressive, but in use it falls flat owing to numerous unresolved quirks and usability issues. As such, it's extremely hard to recommend Music Maker to any but the most patient computer music novices.

  • Two stars may seem harsh considering the software's strengths, but for us, life is too short to be grappling with cumbersome controls, especially when it distracts from the creative process.

  • If you're just starting out, you could do a lot worse than Magix Music Maker 16 - especially at just £44. You'd face a far steeper learning curve with the aforementioned programs or a product such as Cakewalk's Sonar or Steinberg's Cubase. Magix Music Maker 16 really is easy to use. However, the lack of real audio editing is deal-killer for more hands-on types.

With MAGIX Music Maker 2013, your creativity is the limit:

    Pros

    • Good range of musical instruments to choose from.
    • Allows you to edit your arrangements.
    • Includes MAGIX Loop Designer.
    • Text to speech capabilities.
    • Automatic remix agent.
    • Multi-track, intuitive interface design.

    Cons

    • The lack of uniformity in the design of some of the windows make it look a bit patchy.

  • MAGIX Music Maker offers the tools to create interesting and unique compositions from its large library of sounds and its various recording capabilities. However, this audio editor lacks audio restoration tools that are often synonymous with audio editing software. But if you are looking to record multiple audio tracks at once, as well as incorporate and arrange a variety of samples into your compositions, this program is worth your consideration.

Magix Music Maker is a simple program for producing creative musical compositions. You can use the vast loop library, play MIDI instruments and record live instrumentation to produce music. It is powerful PC music software that even the most novice user can pick up quickly.
