According to statistics, most users do not use even the half of feature-rich programs' capabilities. One of the reasons — is that people just don't know about this or that feature or can't find it in the interface. The Photoshop Elements users may refer to Guided Edit image editing mode. It provides access to frequently used editing functions. In this mode, all tools are divided by the tasks. There are color correction, lighting and exposure, basic editing and other categories. When the user chooses a tool, its settings open directly on the Guided Edit panel. Photoshop Elements supports the layer masks. The value of the mask layer is difficult to overestimate. The processing of the images using layer masks blurs the line between amateur and professional photography. Using the masks, it is possible to do the restoration of damaged photographs, to get the endless possibilities of photo collages creation, to retouch and so on. Adobe Photoshop Elements includes the Organizer module. It helps to synchronize files between multiple PCs, to add smart tags to photos (for example, marks not clear photos or with contrast lack) and to recognize the people's faces on the images. You can use these tags to filter images. For example, it is easy to quickly find all the good pictures with your grandma. One of the features that is available from the Organizer window is direct upload of photos and videos on the Facebook. After selecting the appropriate option you will need to login with Facebook and allow to perform the actions through Adobe applications. After successful authorization Photoshop Elements will remember your login. You will only need to choose the files you want to upload, specify the albums for the photos uploading, as well as to decide the visibility status of files – for friends, for friends of my friends or for the everyone.

Pros :

  • Powerful image-manipulation tools.
  • Great export options.

Cons :

  • Slow import.
  • Big memory consumption.

The first thing which needs to be said about Painter is that it is not Photoshop. Corel leans in heavy on the Digital Artist Software moniker and for a good reason. Painter is not about Image Manipulation or Image Editing (Photoshop's mainstay), it's about creating art. The easiest way to think about the line between the programs is this. If your goal is to clean up a Photo for the magazine cover, then Photoshop is your tool. If your task is to create a digital Mona Lisa, Painter's the alley you want to be in.Photoshop has some basic art effects, watercolor and pastel are a few. And several plugins grow that base significantly. But none of them could touch the raw power of Painter when it comes to Art medium simulation.Painter is a mature product, almost as old as Photoshop. And it's learning curve is just about as steep. This is not a tool that one installs and starts producing art within the hour. It has a huge amount of adjustable brushes, and each attribute can be customized to taste. But because of its maturity, Painter doesn't have too much new it can introduce by way of new brushes or gimmicks to attract a user to purchase. What Painter relies on is the ability to perfectly simulate a multitude of art forms, oils, crayon, chalk, watercolor on different canvas' and produce an output that truly is representative of the creator's talent. If you can't draw, you can't blame Painter. Brush strokes heavy handed? All will be revealed. Painter is truly representative of the artist medium.Although there are some plugins for Painter, and it does fully support Photoshop Brushes, allowing the user to leverage the huge amount of free brushes on the web, Painter pretty much comes ready to use out of the box. The one must have item I would mandate that any artist serious about using the software effectively get is a fairly large Tablet. In fact, I'd say that not using a tablet with Painter makes the software essentially useless since it relies so heavily on the artist hand pressure and stroke. One can do Image retouch by mouse, but not painting a matte using oils or a charcoal drawing. Bottom line, use the money you would have spent on Photoshop art plugins to get a fair sized tablet. Working in Painter is easy, and it handles large files easily, via it's Riff file format. Even though it doesn't leverage GPU rendering, Painter rarely chokes on files that can easily reach a terabyte. It is also fully compatible with Photoshop and can write to the PSD format. In the end, if painting, drawing and producing "art" in a digital medium is your goal, Painter is by far the best tool.

Pros :

  • Mature software that comes ready to use out of the box.
  • Digital Art Software accomplishes its goal.
  • A full featured tool for Professional Artist, customizable brush, stroke, light, color attributes.
  • Stores Artist Palettes..
  • Can produce artfully representative of your talent.
  • Supports Photoshop Brushes.
  • Uses proprietary RIFF format which support large file sizes.
  • New Digital audio Brush uses audio file to paint.

Cons :

  • Expensive for anyone other than the Professional Artist.
  • Learning curve can be steep.
  • Tablet necessary to get quality art.
  • Cheaper tools available if "Artifying" your Photos is your goal.
  • An commitment in time to maximize your investment in software.

It is now many years that Corel develops excellent software and different Suite to allow photographers, designers, and technicians to create and improve at the best their projects. PaintShop Pro is a great product for photo editing that is included in CorlDraw Graphic Suite and can also be purchased individually. With the many features and professional tools made available can be considered one of the competitors of Photoshop.

Pros :

  • The strength of Paintshop Pro is definitely a chance to work on their own in a highly professional photo and at the same time using an interface quite user-friendly, thanks to tabs Manage, Adjust and Edit will allow you to gain confidence day after day with each individual instrument.
  • Like all major photo editing software, you have available the feature multilayers, due to the levels you can apply different types of effects and nuances applying a superposition of levels thus having the only limit of your imagination and creativity.
  • Paintshop Pro provides all types of automatic image correction, a large number of filters and effects applied to your photo, different types of Adjustment (brightness, contrast, shadows, saturation, Color, Clarity, Tones, etc ..), several useful tools how much it used Clone Brush, different kinds of Brushes, Text tool, Pen, erase, red eye tool, etc .. Currently with the latest version (Paintshop Pro X8), you have two types of licenses: PaintShop Pro X8, sold on offer with 10% discount at a cost of € 62.99 (44.99 if you have already purchased the product, and you only need to upgrade to the latest version) PaintShop Pro Ultimate X8, this also sold on offer with 10% discount at a cost of € 79.99 (62.99 if you have already purchased the product, and you only need to upgrade to the latest version) PaintShop Pro is also sold in the money-back formula, then you will have 30 days to claim a refund if the software does not meet your needs.

Cons :

  • Some effects and some tools are a bit too basic and not very attractive, but for the price at which it sold really great value for money.

Alone or as a companion to Photoshop, Painter brings the maximum in artistic possibilities to digital artists and creative professionals. Keep in mind that you'll need a pressure sensitive graphics tablet to get the most satisfaction out of Painter.

PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate has two big advantages over Photoshop: a lower price and easier-to-use modes for beginners who might be intimidated by working with layers. PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate is a versatile, pro-quality full-featured photo editing program which even demanding, experienced Photoshop users will find perfectly capable. It crashed once on my underpowered mini-notebook during many hours of testing, but other than that I can find very little here on the down side.
