Sfax is easy to use and offers various options to send and manage faxes. The online fax service provides all the standard features we expect from a fax service, including customized cover pages, delivery notifications of faxes and fax logs.
When it comes to sending and receiving faxes, Sfax provides all the fundamental features you need. You can send an email directly to a fax number, fax to multiple recipients and receive email notifications upon delivery of a fax. The online faxing service has auto re-send should a fax fail to send, and mobile fax alerts. There is international faxing available on certain plans.
The Sfax Driver allows you to send and digitally sign faxes from any application from which you can print. Let's say you need to fax a document you've created with Microsoft Word. Using the driver, you can fax the document directly from Word by simply clicking "print" and selecting the Sfax Driver as the printer.
You can fax from the web, your desktop or an integrated application. Sfax Online provides access to your web-based account from any standard web browser. The web interface is much like an email client, with typical folders such as an inbox and outbox, a contacts folder and the ability to compose a fax. New faxes are sent directly to your inbox, where you can print, forward or delete them.
The third option to send faxes is with Sfax API, which enables fully integrated faxing. With this function, the online fax service provides everything your IT department needs to seamlessly integrate Sfax with your existing management system. For instance, medical offices that use an electronic medical record (EMR) system can fully incorporate Sfax so they can fax directly from that system interface. Not only is this convenient, but it also ensures that your faxes are wholly compliant with any relevant government-regulatory mandates such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) if you are a health-care provider.
Sfax does not have an email plugin specifically for Microsoft Outlook, though the Sfax Driver integrates with Outlook and any other application from which you can print.
Given its start in the health care industry, it's no wonder that Sfax employs powerful and industry-compliant security measures to safeguard sensitive information, especially during the transmission of faxes. To begin with, Sfax utilizes 256-bit SSL Certification and 2048-bit private keys to encrypt data. Additionally, proper user authentication is required to access any Sfax account. Finally, the Sfax data servers employ redundant backup technology, are secured by multiple firewalls and intrusion-detection systems, and are housed at facilities that boast around-the-clock physical security. Given such robust security features, Sfax is an ideal online faxing service for any business that routinely handles confidential, sensitive or proprietary information.
Mirrored after online email clients, Sfax boasts an interface that is clean, familiar and intuitive – similar to other fax services we reviewed. Top-level navigation tabs make it easy to navigate between folders, and a static search bar lets you quickly search for specific faxes or contacts using a keyword. One feature we really liked is the star function, which allows you to star, or tag, high-priority faxes.
Sfax offers decent help documentation in the form of a FAQs section and knowledgebase. We thought some of the entries were brief, but the amount of information provided turned out to be helpful. If you don't have luck finding answers to your questions in this section, you can send an email or call Sfax's telephone-support phone number during business hours. There's a contact form on the company's website and live chat support as well.

Though, not entire Windows-friendly (lacks Windows plug-in option), it is still a worthwhile storage and transport option for those who want secured and private data transfer. So, if you are looking for time-based fax transport, here is a good tool to help you in your endeavor.

While Sfax lacks a Microsoft Office plugin, its overall functionality compensate for that shortcoming. It has an easy-to-use interface and a range of customizable features. Sfax is a good option for any business with limited faxing needs or where security is important.

Sfax’s prices are definitely on the high end (for all except the pay-as-you-go plan; that one is a pretty good deal). But I think the prices are actually pretty reasonable, given that you’re getting HIPAA-compliant service from a company that takes its security seriously.
