HipChat comes highly recommended for businesses and organizations that are looking for a communication solution that offers more than chatting features.

HipChat Use Cases and Deployment ScopeMost of our IT departments use HipChat. We also have a few admin departments using the rooms feature. We are able to communicate on the fly in real time, see who is available at the time and eliminate mass emails. We also use the one on one chat.
Pros : Using the rooms for a dept is the best feature- you can lock rooms off as private or have open rooms for anyone to join. The emojis are pretty cool.
Cons : They should add the feature to be able to chat to 2 people in one conversation. The last update has been very buggy- Kept crashing. HipChat was fine until this update..Search feature used to work great but now it has not been working properly.

HipChat Use Cases and Deployment ScopeOur organization uses HipChat for both work and play. We have HipChat rooms for individual teams as well as for semi-work related topics such as our internal ping pong bracket and "Where Are We Going for Lunch Today?" Additionally, we use HipChat to stay in touch on a one-on-one basis as we are spread over several offices across the globe. When it comes to immediate, short communications, HipChat seems to be the default way of communicating.
Pros : Private and Public Chat Rooms - It's being able to have organization-wide chat rooms as well as private chat rooms with specific team members.Mobile App Functionality - Being able to get my HipChats on the go enables me to stay connected when I'm out of the office or in a meeting without a laptop. I appreciate being able to only have certain notifications turned on as it stops me from be inundated with messages I don't want to see when I'm on the go.Reference - Being able to search through old H
Cons : Aesthetics - This is a minor complaint, but I would like to be able to customize the aesthetic of my instance of HipChat. Currently users can only customize their profile picture.
Have used HipChat at work with my software development team, and while it does the job, it's not my favorite chat application out there.
Pros : Like the app on my phone, but often I miss the chats I receive there because after a push notification it's hard to go in and read the full content of the chat, or sometimes even find that message at all! I guess that's not really a pro anymore. I like that you can integration with Confluence, but I wish it was a deeper integration, like being about to group notifications together.
Cons : I want to be able to edit my chats after I send them and not just with the s// feature. I wish I could change the display so it took up less real estate on my screen.

HipChat is an easy to setup communication tool that provides our organization plenty of ways to integrate and pass messages. It can be be integrated into monitoring and alerting tools to quickly contact group within chat rooms and enable rapid response using ChatBots. There are so many pre-built integration's that you hardly have to do anything at all, but if you want or need to they have a very good API that you can use to write your own integration's.
Pros : Easy, fast, responsive Many integration's Great API
Cons : Using the hosted service there can sometimes be lag and service disruptions.
HipChat is a nice communication tool which enables you to stay in contact with all of your team members. It is easy to use and is built very intuitively.
Pros : Easy to use and many functions
Cons : Not free for bigger teams
