DropSend is a great file sharing service, through DropSend you can send files to other users with no restrictions on weight and storage of files. To start using the service you have to go on the official website and register. DropSend offers different types of possible account, depending on your needs and your budget.

Pros :

  • Account Lite: it is Free, you can send a maximum of 5 files per month and with a maximum weight of 4 GB, slow transfers Basic Account: $ 5 per month, you can send up to 15 files per month, fast transfers, 1 GB of online storage, 8GB maximum file weight Standard account: 10 GB of online storage, can use DropSend Direct, you can perform drag and drop uploads, you can make 45 submissions per month.
  • It also has Professional plans (Professional, Business Lite and Business) that are sold at an higher cost (start at $ 19 per Month up to $ 99 per Month) and allow advanced operations such as Resume downloads, Dropbox customizable, the Encryption of data, an online storage and bandwidth up to 500GB , unlimited sends and much more.
  • DropSend has different strengths, one of the first points in favor to highlight is the fact DropSend offers file security and uses a method of 256-bit SSL Encryption.
  • Unlike other online services that offer this type of file sharing provides a client software called DropSend Direct, through this software you can send files directly without using your PC and then log on to the site (of course you will still have a usable account) and with this you can also manage the down of connectivity without losing the parts of files already sent .
  • Unlike other competitors' services can be integrated directly into Outlook convenient plugins with which you can send files directly from your Outlook client with minimal effort at no cost.
  • Finally also, it offers the app for smartphones, usable on both iOs and Android platforms.

Cons :

  • The professional plans are a little bit too expensive, but the quality of service is good.

I have to admit, I'm not using Cubby a lot. There is so many competition, that at sometimes, you need to stick to one. Cubby is not very popular, so when you want to share with others, you will get a lot of "I don't have a Cubby account". I know, the answer is "go get one, it's free" but you will receive a "why, I already use ***" So, why Cubby? First, it's by LogMeIn, one of the best cloud company. Second, they give you 1 GB free for each friend you invite, and that's a lot! And Third... you have a real selective sync. Instead of having a root folder, with a subfolder, you create "Cubbies". A Cubby is like a folder. You can share, and sync a Cubby. When you install the desktop client, you will select which Cubby you want to sync. You may want to sync your documents on your personal and professional computer, but maybe sync your personal picture only on your personal computers. Also, maybe your pictures are on your C: drive, but your documents are on your D: drive. With Cubby, you select the Cubby, click sync, and choose the destination folder, for each Cubby. I use it to sync my Outlook signatures, my games save, my apps configurations, etc. You can simply create a Cubby by Dragging and Dropping a folder into Cubby. It may be used to share, or to backup. Unfortunately, storage is pretty expensive. You can have 1 TB for 10$/month from competition while with Cubby, 1 TB will be 40$/month. The Cubby client is pretty big, without a lot of advanced features. They have DirectSync to sync across computers, without the cloud, but only with the paid version. The data is encrypted, and you can add client-side encryption if you really need it!

Pros :

  • Selective Sync Select destinations individually 1 GB for friend invite From LogMeIn.

Cons :

  • Not very popular.
  • The client is ugly.

Overall, DropSend is a great free service that gives users the chance to email files up to 2 GB in size. Having the ability to easily transfer large files from any email address on the Web can help users send the files they need without having to downsize. DropSend is also a great way for users to send high resolution photos. Although there are many file sharing sites on the Web, DropSend is one of the best on the market.

I hate beta because it can entice developers to keep their product in a constant state of development (I’m looking at you, Google). Even in Cubby’s beta infancy, I believe it is the first true competitor to make a legitimate run on the cloud syncing crown. LogMeIn has a solid user base and they are known for producing a good product at the right price. If they extend that level of quality and product innovation into an already feature robust Cubby, Google Drive will be the least of Dropbox’s problems.
