  • I started using Box when my company used it. We shared files internally and with external stakeholders it was great to know your files were safe. The editing in app function didn't work so well, due to perhaps my company's hardware or operating system, but regardless, few in our org were able to edit within the app. We got around this by editing in Word and then re uploading. The collaborating was great because we could control who had the file open and who could see it. For individuals, Dropbox is probably fine. For larger orgs, Box is great.

Pros : Intuitive interface for basic functions like uploading Access it anywhere Useful mobile app

Cons : Hard to access and navigate folders Non intuitive search function Hard to get the editing within the app function working

  • Overall, it’s not the cheapest file sharing program out there, but it offers a lot for the money. While it’s pricier than others, it offers a lot of storage, unlimited machines and a high rating to prove that it’s worth the money. But take this with a grain of salt: Box is still a solution for business and enterprises. I wouldn’t recommend it for small business owners or freelancers.

    Pros :

    Cons :

  • Box offers one of the best selections of business-oriented tools in the industry, making them the ideal solution for organizations who need to manage their documents and projects all in one place.

As a designer who works with a lot of film posters that can range anywhere from 4-18 gigabytes, a fast downloading service is necessary so that I can get to work ASAP on these files. As a trend, I have noticed that the files we get from box.com tend to download about 20% faster than other secured file sharing competitors. This means getting my hands on a large asset 10 minutes faster than other services. When something like a film poster has to go live online immediately, those extra ten minutes are a deal maker for me.

As far as the UI goes, I'm a fan of its simplicity which dictates pure function: everything seems in place, and nothing is there to distract or confuse. Box.com is a utility, and its interface makes it work as so. As a designer, I appreciate that the interface is a bit more contemporary with its flat design aesthetic.

I'm also a big fan of their pricing structure: $15 p/m with only a 5 GB limit in file size with unlimited storage space. I'm sure most of the studios we work with use the enterprise tier since they often send us 15gb files, 5gb is enough.

The drag-and-drop interface is really nice. It works as advertised and is really beneficial for saving time instead of using something like a "Browse for files button.

    Pros :

    • An extremely fast downloading rate.
    • Very clean UI.
    • Microsoft Office integration works very well.
    • Price of the service is very affordable.
    • The security and selective sharing features work fantastic ( which is very important when you are dealing with something like an unreleased film poster ).
    • The drag-and-drop interface is really nice.
    • The mobile app is very clean and useful.

    Cons :

    • I really wish box.com integrated with our NAS the way other file sharing services do.

Box.com, another one of many consumer and business cloud services available for storing all your files and accessing them across all devices.andnbsp; Great!

Now how do we choose which is best for our business? All things considered, Box does offer a great value to its users and it certainly is a quality cloud storage you can rely on. That being said, I personally feel competitors like Google Drive bring more to the table that makes me feel like Box is missing, mainly the ability to edit and word cooperatively inside documents.andnbsp; In terms of accessing your files anywhere, Box offers a desktop app which creates a folder on your computer and makes it very simple to move, rename, organize files, etc.

The mobile app also makes for quick accessibility for the businessman or woman on the go. If you, for whatever reason, actually use the online website box.com, the interface, in my opinion, is probably the least user-friendly in comparison to Google Drive or Dropbox.

    Pros :

    • I say Box is a good value because you get a healthy amount of storage for a very reasonable price.
    • The unlimited storage plan for $15 per user is hard to beat, especially if you run a small business like I do and are currently the only user.
    • I access my files remotely all the time on my iPhone when traveling or just away from my home office.
    • Box's iOS app gets the job done, but I often feel like bigger files take a lot longer to load compared to trying to open the same file (usually audio or video) on Dropbox or Drive's mobile app.

    Cons :

    • As I said previously, the online browser interface is a bit of a turn off in my opinion.
    • Sometimes, when I needed to edit a file and I was not at my computer, I would access the website from another computer to download the file locally. Next, I would make the changes I needed, upload the updated version, then delete the old version.
    • I think you now see why I prefer Google Drive's native ability to create and edit documents right on the web without this download / upload business.andnbsp; andnbsp;

    I have only used Box for personal use but I am a big fan of it.andnbsp; The integration with Android, the ease of uploading through mobile devices is great. It also allows me to share it with my family and friends.andnbsp; There is an upload limit which I wish was larger due to videos becoming larger and the box does fill up really quickly. Occasionally I do have to keep logging in because for some reason it doesn't always remember my username and password.andnbsp; In a world of single sign on I wish this glitch didn't occur. It syncs well but lacks some collaboration ability which some other platforms allow. It does have great integration. andnbsp;

    Pros :

    • The integration is first class. It compares well to its competitor in Dropbox and gives you more storage than Dropbox.andnbsp;
    • I have been using Box over Dropbox for years because of the ease, integration and options that it allows.
    • It does have some design features that feels rich and is something that adds to its usability.andnbsp;
    • Its web app integration with Google Apps makes it an ideal partner for online use and cloud collaboration.
    • It syncs very well and it also integrates into numerous high profiles applications like Salesforce and Chatter.andnbsp; It also allows you to import contacts which is very useful.

    Cons :

    • While it does have a collaboration interface, it is very limited.
    • Other competitors have better options and ability for collaboration.andnbsp;
    • While it's free offerings is generous, with the 250 MB limit it does make it hard to upload videos taken of the family that are a little bit longer.
    • The drag-and-drop is simple but not as customization and does take time to get the folders where you want it to be.andnbsp; The online editing feature is the weakest feature in Box and is very limited.

Box allows you to access your docs and files from anywhere while keeping them secure. I use this all the time as I work from different locations but need to access the same files. I'm also able to use this tool to access files from any platform or machine, such as a computer or mobile device. It's also a great place to share files with others, such as team members and co-workers. My company uses this to provide a single source location for company important company files (e.g. HR resources, legal documents, marketing and sales materials). There are also several ways to access Box, whether through a browser, desktop sync, or mobile app.

    Pros :

    • I like the fact that I can access my documents from anywhere at anytime.
    • I also like the fact that it is a very secure tool, unlike other file sharing programs.
    • Sometimes I find documents, ebooks, videos, and other material to help me become more successful in my career and like to share them with others.
    • This makes it easier to share rather than sending out an email to many people at once, and I can also upload large files that are too big to email.
    • There is an option to be notified every time an edit is made to the folder, so when someone adds a file, an automated email is generated, rather than having to send out an email on my own every time I upload a document.

    Cons :

    • The desktop sync option is very helpful as it does not require the need to log into a web browser.
    • One of the problems with the sync is if that if you are not the owner of a folder, then you have to download the folder.
    • You can set up to receive notifications whenever a change is made to that specific folder, but you will have to download it again, which may be time-consuming, depending on the size of the folder.
    • Once you do this, if you add it to your Box desktop sync, you will now move duplicate folders.

Box makes it very easy for an individual (who gets 10gb of storage) to use and get acquainted with the software, and the corporate plans are affordable and allow seamless unlimited storage across the organization. If you have experience with other cloud-based storage/sharing software, you'll notice Box is quite a bit faster!

    Pros :

    • Extremely easy to use, and integrates with Salesforce nicely. You'll also notice that compared to the competition, Box is much faster and has way better security with their file / data storage.
    • You can use Box easily with an iPhone or Android, and just about every tablet you can think of as well.
    • There really is no downside to Box; in terms of what it is and what it promises to deliver, it does the job!
    • Particularly on an iPhone, Box integrates with your camera and take existing photos off it with ease, or take a photo right then and there with your phone’s camera and upload the picture to the folder of your choice.
    • This makes this software particularly appealing to someone like a photographer, who constantly battles with having enough memory at an event to capture everything they’d like to.
    • You could simply designate the folder to sync that content to, and get right into transferring it wirelessly and being on your way!

    Cons :

    • My only complaint with Box is the inability to invite a certain user to edit and access a single file. you have to make a folder and invite them to edit the contents within that folder, and that can be a bit messy when you have to create those folders for multiple users across the platform.
    • Other than that, I have no complaints. I am told that individual file privileges are being expanded as well, so I'll look forward to editing this review at that time to reflect the positive change!

Box is one of the most efficient access to the online file sharing and content management services for various businesses and individual marketing. The immediate and quick access offered by this software to all my social networking websites and other details that I have to follow up with it. Box offers an incredible user-friendly platform that has provided users and its clients to easily sort out their business marketing techniques all together at one single platform. Its wide integration with the various social media giants along with the mobility and the flexible usage it is providing is yet another benefit that would make itself sustain in the market. With all these integrating usages and features, the platform also privatizes our work and delivers and ensures regular security upgrades offering the users a premium safe and secure database. It delivers an effortless collaboration to the complete platform from any device accessible by the user.

    Pros :

    • Box has provided my business network grow nicely, their freemium model has given me 10 GB of free storage for my work to be spread across in my initial stages though the subscriptions are different. It has given me a platform to be productive and give more of time to grow my business network.
    • The easy access to sharing the connect with one simple click and allows me to share my content to all the social media platforms where I wish to deliver.
    • Apart from me comparing it to the other service providers providing me the same cloud service I had found the platform to be more of user-friendly and the interface has provided me great support in understanding the media world of marketing more and keeping myself updated with the works happening around.

    Cons :

    • Although Box provides the initial free storage space of 10GB, which is only beneficial for entrepreneurs and small business markets, the annual and monthly subscriptions need you to pay excess for a limited amount of storage that is not that cost worth when it is compared with the other competitors in the market.
    • The features in full scale are not much to be appreciated.

To dump our data, the modern competitive market provides a lot of services these days. Box is nothing but another version of a Dropbox. Its major design is for content management and not very much suitable for individual requirements. It is secure and fast; Box helps to satisfy the data need of Collaboration, synchronizing and editing. It works well with Office integration. It has an amazingly well designed mobile application. With the help of Box a lot of data work can be automated and thus saves a lot of time. One can save, share and transfer data with the help of this software. This product has a security first approach which is both at personal as well as organizational level.

    Pros :

    • Box is capable of layering up a lot of additional features that help in making it stand out from its competitors like Dropbox, Google drive, etc.
    • This helps us to come up with new better data management.
    • It uses high-end security protocols and hence very trusted in the market as it ensure data safety.
    • This is best useful for organizations that simply have to collect all data files and synchronized them all into folders and collect them at one place.
    • It provides free cloud storage facilities, like all other players in the market, with all its packages and is subjected to change as per organizational requirements.
    • This software has made sharing files and synchronizing data from clients, and external teams query work very simple and convenient to manage for us.

    Cons :

    • To use the product well one has to put in a little effort especially if not from the technical background, but the learning curve is smooth and opens up a lot of experimentation.
    • The last issue that we faced with the software was when a re-installation occurred, the software was blank with no historical data, we could only retrieve things from the cloud and before the update we were not warned of the same.
    • Also, it does not provide clear details as to what is being received unless downloaded.
    • This poses a challenge to a lot of users.

Box is a cloud storage platform and a file sharing and collaboration solution for all types of enterprises. It helps people collaborate from any location and any device. One can even create and edit documents from within Box and share them with others in real time and receive comments and feedback.

Box also enables employees to access to business documents from mobile. With the hybrid deployment, the IT department is always in control of the critical data and employees can access the content from anywhere and any device. This is very important for departments like sales where members are mostly away from office and need to access the latest and updated content and powerpoint presentations on a regular basis.

    Pros :

    • Box provides an easy alternative to store safely the company data into the cloud that can then be accessed by the authorized people simultaneously in a secure manner.
    • The individual files or folders can be secured using a password and access can be time limited by setting an expiration date after which the access will be automatically revoked.
    • A considerable amount of version control is provided which allows restoring a previous version in case anything goes wrong.
    • It offers APIs for integration with various other apps which make Box much more useful for the businesses.
    • It can be seamlessly integrated with digital signature solutions like Docusign and various CRM and ERP solutions like Netsuite, Salesforce, etc.
    • A lot of tasks can be automated based on the event of file upload which otherwise require manual intervention.
    • These features will help you save a lot of time and increase productivity.

    Cons :

    • Box is great when it comes to sharing the documents seamlessly, but it lacks in another important feature that is an automatic backup of the document to the cloud.
    • There is no provision to schedule future date and time for automatic backup.
    • Further, just like torrents, I think it should provide a provision to choose the bandwidth and upload speed for the document and backups.
    • Box securely encrypts the data while the data is in storage as well as in transit.
    • But it does not allow creating private encryption keys which is a requirement for a lot of businesses as they want to be in the driving seat for all of their critical information rather than trusting on Box’s encryption algorithms.

Box is a very handy platform that allows you to upload a multitude of files and easily share them with peers. While there are many alternatives to Box on the market, I find it to be one of the simplest to use on an everyday basis without getting the headache that some of its competitors give you. You are able to do everything from the website or install the client software to sync bigger files on your computer. A quick drag and drop backups your files to the cloud and just a few clicks to share content with people in your contacts.

    Pros :

    • Box is compatible with most operating systems whether it is mobile or desktop based. However, there does not seem to be any Linux compatible client.
    • The sync clients allow you to always have access to your personal files while on the move or work from anywhere and any computer. It is very easy to backup files of any sizes.
    • Box is prized for its simplicity and reliability. Many online storage services offer complicated user interfaces that are sometimes hard to understand due to lack of available online resources like forums or user guides.
    • File permission management allows you to control who has access to your files. They can easily be revoked at anytime when you no longer want to share a file. Your files are protected with optional password and encryption. Box takes security of your data very seriously, all of your files are encrypted.
    • Of course, all of the Box servers are backed up and replicated across multiple locations on the globe to ensure availability and integrity of your data.

    Cons :

    • Box does not offer a lot of space if you only sign up for the free account.
    • It would be nice to have a less intrusive desktop app.
    • A more customizable desktop client would be a big plus and allow you to choose more precisely which folders you want to share.

Years ago, Dell sent me a "50 GB Box.com" invite. I created 3 accounts, one for myself, one for my wife, and one for my dad. I started moving all my pictures on it, good backup. When I first hit my 50 GB, I created a folder in my wife account, and shared it to mine, and continue to add pictures. Now, I'm using 120 GB for pictures and videos. You are at a dinner with friends, and someone asks how your kids are going. You get your phone out of your pockets, you open the box apps, and you can start showing pictures and videos of the family. Every time, everywhere! You can share folders and subfolders individually to people, so they get notified when you add new pictures, etc. Every time my computer crash (because hard disks die) I just log in my account, install the soft, and my pictures are back. Why Box.com? First, they gave me 50 GB for free, second, I don’t need my family to get paid account to access all my stuff, only the owner get charged for the files. The file limit is 250 MB for the free version, which is pretty bad for me. I have to edit all the videos to split into smaller files. When a file is too large, and can’t be sync, the icon changes, but my wife never see it, and we lose some video. I know that the paid version is way better, but I’m not in the mood to go forward with them. I did try the support sometimes, because of bugs. The service is ok, but better not calling them. I didn’t try the enterprise version, but I know that it’s way better, with a lot of corporates features for security, auditing, etc. Maybe a better choice for businesses.

    Pros :

    • Only the folder owner get charged for space.
    • You have to share a 1TB folder to a free user, and it can access all files.

    Cons :

    • The sync client always break, you need to install the updates.
    • It's not easy to us Maximum file size of 250 MB.
    • I have to split my videos Read-Only share cannot sync locally.
