CakeHR – The only software you need to manage employee leave and ‘off’ details

If you are running a small business and have to keep track of a number of employees you probably keep track of their attendance, off days and leave etc in either a simple register or an MS Excel spreadsheet. In most cases this may seem to be adequate. However, if you have ever had a computer crash on you, you know how easy it is to lose data.

CakeHR is a web based application – meaning that you do not have to download anything or install anything on your PC or server. You can access your data from anywhere in the world and from any device that can connect to the Internet. All your data is stored in the CakeHR servers and this ensures that you do not have to set up any databases, create tables and queries and create calendars. Everything is done by CakeHR software in the background.

What I really liked about the application is its clean and uncluttered home page and user interface. I was able to use all its functions in five minutes flat. Every possible report you want – from people who are off work today to how many offs have they taken this year – is available in a ready to use format.

When you enter employee details, you can upload their photographs and email details so that the screen gets personalized with their data. Add employee details including their birthdays and anniversaries so that you never miss another one. The Home Screen has your company details on it. A person looking at it will not be able to say that you are using a tool provided by another company.

You can even upload files into the CakeHR application and use it as a storage for data that you want to keep online. If you want to keep your product brochures or price lists etc, I think this is a great place.
