Is it RIP for traditional PCs yet?

At a recent Nvidia event launching the first graphics processing unit, many practitioners became  aware that the days of the PC were rather limited so long as the user could get decent connectivity. You can plan to use anything that has a screen and incorporates the word ‘Smart’ in its name. Smart phones, smart TVs and even smart cars – everything will gain.

Here are some applications that immediately come to mind –

Gaming is becoming better and device independent. You really do not need a big screen to play complex interactive games.

Programs are becoming OS independent. You like Apple hardware but want to run Windows software? No issues, the application will run in the clou and be displayed on your iPad.

The new GPU is giving 10x performance improvement – that is ten times better. When we get excited over 20% better performance, think how much better 1000% will look.
