Consumerization of IT and the Challenges faced by the Cloud
In today’s scenario consumers across the globe are driving the cloud adoption, at a pace which is faster than what enterprise IT can anticipate and accept. What we are witnessing is the cloud environment undergoing massive changes which can broadly be classified as “consumerization of IT”. This phenomenon is going to drive businesses to reach their true potential. The need of the hour is to stay abreast with the changes being witnessed around us.
The ultimate threat new technology faces is not capital or manpower but how will it adapt to the real world problems. A world where rate of adoption is not governed by technology but, by the rate at which humans can evolve their skill sets to handle new technology. Arguably the rate at which firms can acclimatize themselves to this technology is proportionate to the rate at which one can dispose of legacy skill sets from the IT departments of their respective firms.
What experience has taught is that, our human race experiences and lives in linear time whereas technology on the other hand grows exponentially. We always think about what to do tomorrow, unfortunately technology does not share the same philosophy. When tomorrow does come, technology has moved exponentially up the curve and the distance it has put between itself and us is more than what an average human can anticipate or comprehend.
Technology has no limits and it will keep evolving, wherever there is a demand, technology will be there to satisfy it. The question is are we as humans up to it and can we take up the challenge of making the human race evolve quicker so that they can adapt to the changes and also to keep them abreast with the sweeping technologies in a manner which is safe and secure.
