CERN launches the Helix Nebula Cloud Computing project
CERN – the European Organization for Nuclear Research is providing more details about its Helix Nebula European Cloud Computing project at the Cloud Computing World Forum to be held on June 12 and 13
CERN had launched the Helix Nebula Cloud Computing project to support the use of commercial cloud services in European scientific organizations. While a number of major cloud computing vendors are already part of the Helix Nebula project, CERN is looking for even wider participation.
Helix Nebula is looking at working out how much of the scientific communities’ needs can be met by the commercial cloud. The Cloud Computing World Forum 2011 session had been attended by more than 3000 major decision makers of whom at least 20% were CIO / CTO / CEOs (C-level executives). 100 global exhibitors are expected to showcase their solutions.
